SWY absolutely for a mature woman that lived in New York between the years 2003-2007

Goldberry2000

I am truly devastated! The whole aesthetic of the perfume is right up my alley, along with the notes. It is a signature for so many and such a beloved scent. However, I am sucker punched by the play dough. Needless to say, not really a fan. I can't even stand having it on me for long. *sobs violently in the corner*

gourmandluvr69

i am one of the poor unfortunates that can only smell play-doh.

Upahara

Im just going to start this off by saying I love the OG Poison (green box) and I thought Hypnotic Poison was going to be similar....boy was I wrong.
They smell absolutely nothing alike, they are entirely different - and I hate it. Why name it Poison if its nothing like Poison? I am not a fan of HP, everyone was hyping it up like its the best perfume in existence, compairing it to OG Poison like as though there was any competition. OG Poison is superior. I prefer that spicey, incense, plum smell, not whatever the heck HP is supposed to be. The sillage is weak, I have to basically put my nose directly on the area I sprayed it on to smell it. Its not a long lasting smell either, after 30mins I found myself needing to reapply only for the smell to be totally gone 12 hours later. I have the EDT version so maybe thats why, however OG Poison EDT is still just as strong as EDP.

I dont know what im smelling with HP, its not a bad scent by any means but its just not as fantastic as everyone makes it out to be. Its sweet but not syrupy, its not a totally generic smell, but its not anything groundbreaking. Way too overrated. The dry down smells a little similar to Flowerbomb's dry down. Someone below mentioned it smells like Play-Doh, and yeah I can kinda see that. Its certainly not a sexy smell, youre not going to get stopped as asked "omg what are you wearing??"

Would I puchase this again? Absolutely NOT. Waste of money.

Would I recommend this to anyone? Only if you cant handle the intensity of OG Poison.

jswenson

Okay, so I bought partially used bottle. The batch code pulls up the year 2022. And i recently aquired a brand new 5 ounce bottle produced in the year 2022. And I can tell you right now that there is most definitely a difference.
The partial bottle smells deeper and stronger and lasts longer than the new bottle.
the brand new bottle is thinner and weaker and doesn't last as long as the partial bottle does. These two bottles were produced in the same year.
I think this goes to show that the current Hypnotic Poison needs time. Spray a few times to let oxygen in and then put it away and forget about it for a couple of months.

Petrab83

I love the scent and I personally think it can be worn everyday. I live in a tropical country and still wear in the daytime. I do not find this overpoweringly sweet but different folks. I love the fact that the scent is eternal.

nordlanderin

Overpowering, cloying and sharp scent. "Cough syrop with almond" would probably be the closest short description possible.

09pinkrose02

the notes looked incredible but it unfortunately just smells like play-doh. to the point where I was in a gallery and said 'it smells like play-doh in here' not realising the girl next to me was wearing this scent...

Yasmeena0

Dior killed this scent , it was sooooo powerful , 2 sprays were enough if not too much, now it’s weak and the perfume it self changed . It was so sexy now it’s generic vanilla scent with BAD lasting power, I really hate this new reformulation

Vanillesaf

All I smell is Brut. Good thing I bought a sample because it's a huge no from me.

Hgf2008

I wanted very badly to like this - I'm a huge fan of vintage scents. Unfortunately it didn't seem to work too well on me - much like Dior Addict, something about the Dior rendering of vanilla is a bit too dark, dense and (I know, it's an irritating description but it is quite apt) Play-Doh on me. I'm not sure the almond note works very well on my skin, or possibly just to my taste. Either way - it's probably a masterpiece on some people but do check before you buy!

deshenychristelasher

All I get is the almond note.

bellalandia

Amazing and very warm scent. This fragrance is the real motherly hug in a bottle. Classic that never dies. Chefs kiss

HaileyAppleKins

so lovely .... my girlfriend got this for me so it'll always have a special place in my heart.

TheFinalPurl

I’ve been really into yummy warm gourmands lately and Hypnotic Poison is always recommended in forums and stuff so I stopped by Ulta today and gave some things a sniff. It smelled pretty nice on the tester. Definitely sweet, I guess I was expecting more complexity but it was bad. I went for the wrist sprits and unfortunately I have the skin ingredients that make this smell like chemicals or something. Like very very fake sweet scented makeup you used to spend your allowance on at Claire’s. What a bummer. I actually like pure poison better!

byga0819

This is simply not what it was. It would be profound and long lasting, staying on scarfs for days. I wish some arab perfume house made a dupe of the original fragance!!

Ensconce-in-Bloom

Fragrance was purchased from Nordstrom, and the other direct from Dior online. I really liked this fragrance, and notes are well blended. On my skin, notes that was most prominent was nuttiness of almonds, jasmine, musk, and creamy vanilla. Unfortunately, quality of fragrance was extremely poor - zero projection, 30 minutes max silage, no notable depth IMO. 😭 Not keepers like I had hope.

TheScentualWorld

@Parfluive 🤗 You are most welcome! I’m glad you found it in the way that you did and that you like my collection. 🥰

Parfluive

@TheScentualWorld This is so special♥! I was reading your interesting review at the perfume page of Knowing by EL and i was so intrigued i went to visit your profile page. After browsing your gorgeous collection i went to your reviews and found your note to me about the wrongly placed review from my HP edp. I had already discovered my mistake last week but thank you so much for pointing it out though. So beautiful i got to discover this in the strange way that i did. Kind regards x

Jnh_fm

This scent did not live up to the hype. The dry down happens at light-speed, and all I was left with was a very two-dimensional wood and vanilla scent. If you want a light, warm perfume that fades quickly, then you might like this but I am looking for something that packs more of a punch.

If you want a more well-rounded version of this perfume, I would recommend Jimmy Choo I Want Choo Forever.

malake

Gorgeous, comforting, cosy but also sexy alluring perfume. It's super feminine i'm onto my second bottle I can't live without it

catcat42

simple, juvenile sweet but so very watered down..

ana.cris-geo

It is embarrassing how watered down this has been... I bought this perfume for the first time in 2017-2018. It was deep, dense, with an intoxicating scent, immediately from the first spray of a new bottle. I bought a new bottle 1 month ago. It is barely scented water, it has almost no smell and fades away extremely quickly. After 1 month of letting it settle down, I saw barely any improvements. At this moment, it is just a huge waste of money.

edit (1 month after first comment). It seems to be slightly stronger. I will probably just let it sit for the next few months and see if the performance improves. I love this scent, and just want it to work.

unlimitedfrysauce

Love at first sniff. I was intrigued by the many reviews who said it smells like root beer, and bought it for that reason alone. Root beer was my dad's favorite drink - and I wanted to something to remind me of him. I've received only compliments on this one - it definitely wears well on my skin (no Play-Doh note - which is a relief). Some people are able to pull out the almond note on me, but most people say it's a creamy soda (which is what I get). It's perfect. I also bought JHAG MMMM and this is just a stronger version of that. Love and recommend both - though I'd say it's redundant to own both.

NDL

Finally got a vintage of this (2006 bottle) after all the hype regarding vintage. The perfume is genuine and was purchased from a reputable seller. I also own a 2021 version. I’ll try not to ramble on, but basically it’s not worth seeking out vintage for the silly prices they go for. They smell identical but modern version is actually stronger and lasts longer.

As for the perfume itself it’s a gorgeous creamy almond very comforting and playful. I feel a vintage vibe with the powderiness. Absolute love for me.

I do get nose blind pretty quickly, however others can still detect it. I wore this last week and took my daughter to her appointment and by that point I couldn’t smell it on me anymore. When the nurse came in she asked what smelled so lovely, and asked for the name of my perfume.

isolaviola

Such a strange perfume. Do not blind buy this no matter how tempting. On first spray, it smells overwhelmingly like playdoh or for those of us who are british a cherry bakewell like others have said - I thought surely there's no way a perfume could smell like this, but it does. However give it a while and it settles down to a pleasant sweet almond and vanilla with a touch of marzipan. Sadly once you smell the playdoh it's hard to un-smell it, but my best tip would be to spray some on your wrist at the store, then wait 30 minutes until smelling to figure out whether you really like it.

Once I let it sit for 30 minutes, most of the playdoh went away and it really became quite nice and smelled entirely different to the initial spray. I know this perfume is often hyped as a 'femme fatale' scent but outside of the packaging I don't get that at all - if you are looking for a femme fatale, sensual, complex, seductress this really isn't the scent for you and there's much better fragrances on the market (would suggest the original Dior Poison, Givenchy L'interdit Rouge, Black Opium Over Red). The scent profile is not very nuanced at all but is comforting and cosy, grows on you the longer you wear it and is definitely unique in a good way.

NatalieHilder

This is a love for me, though it wasn't love at first sniff. I do get some of the playdough smell initially, but it's more like an almond vanilla paste used in baking. There is definitely something very comforting and non offensive in this scent. It isn't in any way loud or abrasive. But what totally sold me on HP and made it one of my top 10 is the drydown. There's something magical that happens in the dry down of this perfume.

archerries

I am immensely disappointed by the entire Poison range. What would you expect from a perfume named poison? For me, something seductive, alluring and mesmerizing. Instead they are fruity, floral and sweet. I find the mismatch incredibly jarring. Particularly with hypnotic poison - what's hypnotic about the scent of play-doh?

Lbustos2

This is such a pretty fragrance. It reminds me of Lana Del Rey’s first album, Born to Die. I’m not sure why. I just get a retro, vintage, coquette type of powdery almond smell from this perfume. It smells like powdery, sweet almonds and stays pretty mellow and consistent throughout. It may be an overlooked fragrance, as there are more almond fragrances on the market, but I do love this perfume. If you love almond scents that lean slightly cherry, then this will be for you. Hypnotic Poison is one of the building blocks to all almond fragrances. She’s a trendsetter. I will say, I can’t quite detect the other notes. Not saying they aren’t there, but the sweet, consistent, creamy almond smell is linear throughout the wear of this perfume. I love it. I wish I still owned it.

angelbeast

Hypnotic Poison has one quality that makes her so different from her older sisters: she's approachable. There's none of the rich darkness of Poison, none of the aloof serenity of Pure Poison. Hypnotic is utterly sweet and edible - all fruits, alcoholic almond and vanilla. For all the femme fatal imagery, in actuality, she feels girly, friendly, almost teenaged. Just a little too sweet for my taste, but still inviting and warm.

thesilliestevrr

When people said this smelled like flat soda, they did NOT lie. If you’ve ever tasted/smelled a rootbeer dum dum (lollipop brand), then you will know exactly how this smells. Sadly, rootbeer smells give me headaches so this was NOT for me, but surprisingly, was very hard to wash off. If you want a light and airy rootbeer smell thats very hard to get rid of and strong, then this is for you. Otherwise, take your headaches meds like I am.

FreshieFrance

All right, For everyone saying this smells like Play-Doh, do you understand that Play-Doh is actually a scented product? Lol. Pretty much everything has fragrance, if not I am pretty sure no parent would allow their kid to play with Play-Doh. I am pretty sure it is actually scented with vanilla.

Now I have not been around Play-Doh for years, so I don’t actually think this smells like Play-Doh. It also does not remind me in the least of my childhood Plato experiences. This is a nice perfumie vanilla with some airy florals. The longevity is fantastic. I am talking about the EDT, and I have a new bottle. It smells reminiscent of Kenzo amor, only the Kenzo has absolutely no longevity or projection. I have sprayed a few of the Zara vanillas, but they don’t smell nearly as nice as this and they don’t last Worth a shite. You get what you pay for with a Zara fragrances.

I do enjoy this, but it was released 25
Years ago and I’d say by today’s standards, it’s not groundbreaking. I’m still gonna wear it tho! I love it actually and can’t believe I didn’t “discover” it sooner. My 20 year old self probably would not have picked it up. But me today? I love it, I love the cute bottle, I love the perfuminess that comes from it.

beatrixrussell

Initial spray? Woodsy Play-Doh. Drydown? Straight Play-Doh. Like it's almost uncanny, just straight Play-Doh smell. I thought people were exaggerating until I tried it myself.

Saveria

A timeless classic.

Hypnotic Poison is woody, spicy, vanilla, a little dark, a little "bewitched", like a potion. I don't know why but this perfume reminds me of a sexy enchantress that you really shouldn't bother. Did you say captivating? Yes, it's true. The bottle itself is reminiscent of a poisoned apple with a slightly “magical” or “witchcraft” side.

A perfume for self-confident women, quite sensual and spicy!

For those on a budget, Zara has apparently made a pretty good dupe, simply called "Hypnotic Vanilla" (which I actually have to go and try myself!).

Adrian1jones2

My signature scent i went through 4 bottles of this and i have many many perfumes but i cant get enough of this one its just comforting and lovely at first i disliked the perfume but with time i fell in love with it and the more i use it the more i adore it its been years and i wear this even in the summer its simply amazing. its a comforting almond cookie ice cream shop vibe its just beyond and it lasts it projects it devours.

marie82

I first smelled this on a lady in a nightclub in around 2005 and trust me it was STRONG. I was captivated by this unusual intoxicating smell and she told me it was this. I used the smell the tester all the time in Boots, it was so different from anything else around at the time. fast forward 20 years later and now it resembles a cheap knock off watered down version. It's as weak as hair mist. Saddens me so much that Dior have destroyed their signature fragrances.

Katyaintheact

This one pisses me off because I love the idea of a vanilla almond gourmand, but it just smells faintly of play dough on me and nothing else. TF Vanilla Sex is still the only vanilla almond perfume that smells good on me but it's expensive and doesn't last long.

TheScentualWorld

@Parfluive - I think your review is for Hypnotic Poison Eau de Parfum and not the EDT here as the licorice is only in the EDP version.. ☺️

glitterveinxs

This fragrance is my signature scent! Yes, I can see why people say there’s a playdough type of smell but it’s not as bad as people make it seem. Perhaps the scent takes me back in time, there’s a sense of nostalgia to it. It’s sweet. Classy and sexy vibes. The strongest smell you get from this is vanilla, it’s the first thing that you smell. It’s a very interesting vanilla scent like none other that I’ve ever smelt before, nothing compares to this or comes even close. It’s not overwhelming. This scent is pretty seductive in my opinion, it’s great for a romantic date night. It’s definitely a warm smell which leans to more of a night & winter scent. It’s a unique scent that may not be for everyone but my goodness in my opinion it’s one of the best perfumes I’ve ever had the pleasure of smelling. 💋💋💋🍎

tsnyder

My all time favorite, signature scent. By far the most complimented fragrance I own. It's a go to for date night. Yes, you can smell the Playdoh and a little licorice or rootbeer, but it's perfectly blended. Enjoy!

szania

I don’t like this, very polarizing play doh scent.
Synthetic vanilla and marzipan that’s what you get.Not well blended, no depth. Meh for me xx

White Lemon Sugar

This one started my journey into fragrance 🖤 it can be quite over powering but if used moderately it definitely gets you attention. I get the plum, Lilly, vanilla, sandlewood and musk but no hints of rose. Not office friendly - a sexy date night scent for sure.

stakasaki

Definitely very nutty and sweet, like marzipan. Unfortunately, I did notice the play-doh smell as some others have pointed out, to kind of an overwhelming degree. It's okay, not for me because I'm not really into sweet scents, but I also don't know if I would like it on anyone else either. If I smelled it out in public, I might assume it was something cheap rather than a designer fragrance.

jdb_

A root beer float with heady florals and a powdery finish. I do barely get the play doh thing but compared to all the popular linear vanillas out there now, this one is offering more complexity. On my skin she develops over time starting more floral, a bit stuffy and ending up v sweet and marzipan-like. A bit cloying for my personal tastes but if you wanna smell like a snack this is in that vein. Smells delicious on a sweater or scarf even days after spraying.

She’s not a lifer for me though I miss her from time to time since selling my bottle. I think the femme fatale thing is a bit overhyped with this one. She’s too sweet for all that IMHO. I once heard this was Adele’s signature scent and THAT makes sense to me. I feel like Adele probably gives good hugs and this scent would enhance that experience. I really want to smell the OG EDP, I think that would be more suited to my appreciation of gothy gourmands.

Ps if you want this vibe without the florals, try lush’s turmeric latte!

LLilies

To me it smells very warm like brown sugar but with notes of coconut and almond. It has that femme fatale vibe and is very sexy.

Pamula

I’m so sad because this perfume should have been my signature but it literally smells like root beer on me :,(

Juliana.sfern

É um doce muito sofisticado. Pode ser forte para ser usado durante o dia no calor do Brasil. Esse perfume é delicado e sexy ao mesmo tempo. É um dos meus preferidos até hoje, e com certeza teria de novo.

meemz22

Hypnotic Poison or Poison Play-doh. I tested this beside Mmmm… by Juliette has a Gunn and while they aren’t identical, they’re in the same family. The Juliette smells a little sweeter, like play-doh dipped in root beer. Not for me.

The dogs Bollocks!!!
For non British folks this is a good thing, it means amazing fabulous wonderful the best!
This perfume is distinctive and delicious and strong as hell. It radiates waves of gourmand creamy vanilla marshmallow almondy marzipan goodness. I can smell the Mr Kipling cake Cherry Bakewell in this perfume it's probably the tonka and almond notes.

Its definitely a compliment getter, I've never not been complimented when I've worn this.
Men especially like the smell, it's very unique to other perfumes it's too damn expensive though. It should be about £20 cheaper than it is in my opinion.
It's very lovely though, no mistaking this one for something else. God l wish l still had a bottle. I occasionally smell marzipan or almondy sweetness in a food and it triggers lovely memories of this perfume. I may have to buy it again when l can get it on sale. I miss this sexy beast, and almost hope l never smell it on anyone, because it will have me online like an addict searching for a bottle and buying it.
For me its 10/10.
Update 30.03.24 it's been a good 20years since l last had a love affair with this potent lover l sold my baccarat Rouge and got 150mls of H.P plus it came with a load of free gifts from dior. Including Oud Isaphan, Gris Dior, Vanilla Diorama, and a few others. I'm in love once again with hypnotic poison ❤️

Creamy_ambrette

I really feel the reviews talking about poor performance are greatly exaggerated. I don’t have a vintage bottle, mine is 2022 bottle and no, it doesn’t fill a room but I wore it to bed last night and I could smell it all night and it’s the next afternoon and it’s a strong skin scent. This would be lovely sprayed on a sweater and in hair.
As for the scent it self- it’s lovely. Cozy, nutty, slighty sweet and doughy in texture. I don’t get play dough because play dough is very plastic like and salty (yes, it smells salty) HP has a doughy texture but is sweet, slighty woody and powdery. I wish it was a bit more beast mode but it’s a nice fragrances for intimate occasions like fireside chats, snuggles on the couch and bedtime stories with the little ones. I am curious to compare this to a vintage formula. If anyone wants to swap samples, I have a large collection.

ckeener

All of the notes on paper seem like it would be something I'd absolutely love, but the playdoh notes everyone mentions in the reviews is definitely a concern. I couldn't get past that. I have Bath & Body Works Snowflakes & Cashmere, and that body mist smells like Hypnotic Poison but without the playdoh.

lavendermenace

The almond stays a lot longer than any of the other notes for me. I smelled this on a friend and got obsessed, but it smells a lot more almondy on me than her. Still like it!

Pauline99

Probably my least used fragrance of all.. it is decent but I guess I just don’t understand the hype… I like it but I don’t love it and neither I understand where the hype is coming from..

katiesimpsonhair

Iupdate! I think this perfume needs a disclaimer to say it needs to sit for a few weeks once sprayed to let it develop and intensify. Like me and probably lots of others you’ve bought a new bottle and decided it’s really weak and want to cry. bide your time , give it a few sprays and let it sit for three weeks, and this becomes much richer and better lasting! I’m so addicted to this it’s amazing! It’s thick creamy, nutty, edible and sweet. I’m getting the 150ml bottle next time!

hirayanaapuhap

At first, I hated this perfume because this is my aunt's signature scent and I don't have a good relationship with her. However, when I sniffed it directly from the bottle and sprayed it on my skin, wow this perfume is majestic! It's like the older sister of flowerbomb without the cloying black currant. I love how the plum dominates and how nutty it smells almost powdery. I think on my aunt, hypnotic poison smells so bad because she rarely takes a bath and uses this to mask her bad odor. On its own, it's a beautiful fragrance. I would consider buying this one when I have the extra money just for the collection. I could see myself wearing this on date nights with revealing outfits.

elisa.pagani1

Hate this with a passion. Obnoxious, nauseating, every single time that I wore it it gave me headache, and smelling it on others really makes me nauseous.
On top of this it is really overdone, lacking character and personality.

Magellan0101

I have worn this, off and on, since it's first release. So great, and the almond was very special ..And, I have to say, last year I bought the eau de perfume from fragnet.com....yuk. it was very bad. So, I bought a decant of EDT from same place.. better, but watery...I'm thinking, what up with this!?
Bought it recently, directly from Dior...and it's really good. All I can say is, if you want to MAKE SURE you don't get a watered down fake or an old bottle, not stored well, then go to Dior and pay for what's real. It's worth it to have the real thing. They send miniatures and samples. You get lots of perks in their program. I recommend it highly.
I know we all want a bargain, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

vpace91

It is sooooo comforting. But are the notes accurate for the EDT? I get none of those fruit notes. Just vanilla and almond, really. It's still beautiful. Very easygoing.

jswenson

I don't understand why Dior watered this down so much and made it so weak, when their current male offering Sauvage Elixir is an absolute beast.. it's not fair at all... shame on you Dior..

Edit- just because a perfume has crap performance doesn't mean it's fake, Dior is notorious for constantly reformulating their perfumes and nobody can change my mind about that

inesfidalgo

I'll tell you what, it wasn't love at first sniff. I thought it was a strange perfume and I didn't get why it was so popular but years later I gave it another shot and holy shit, I get it. One of my favorites for sure.

sweetcherie23

just got this perfume today after being in love with poison girl for years and...i think this might be my new favourite. Warm spicy vanilla with a hint of coconut in there which is gorgeous then has a liquorice woodiness which goes perfectly together in this fragrance i CANT get enoughhh !!

smorrismchugh

I love vanilla and almond but all I’m getting is licorice and powder… I wish I got what everyone else is getting from this? So confused!

Linis

The dua brand has a dupe of this one, but the vintage formulation called Hypnotizing Venom. =) Tip for anyone who misses the vintage version.

Dianatish

Ι am so in love with this perfume. Unfortunately it doesn't last at all....any recommendations for a dupe that lasts longer?

scenturian

If you are wearing only black top to the bottom, following gothic and punk fashion, metal rivets, spikes etc, gothic accessories and jewellery, leather jackets and boots, black make-up then this is a must to complete your vampiric femme fatale soul and outlook, otherwise if you are colourful then this will wear you.

Plumlady8

Love it!
does it smell like play doh? yes.. but only for some minutes and then its such beautiful smell.
When I smell it I imagine a woman in her dark era that might look a little bitch-y but smells like such warm person you want to hug, so cozyy!
8.5/10!

Durumi

This is not for me, it smells like play-dough. And i feel like you can find similar perfumes for cheaper prices. Coconut, vanilla, almond and tuberose in my opinion doesnt go well with each other.

user2988

my mom used to wear this when i was a kid, so smelling this is very nostalgic for me. the nostalgia factor may be making me biased but i think this smells amazing. person under me said winter in a bottle and i totally agree.

anna222

Winter in a bottle!

Am I the only one who thinks this smells like Brut?

a lady sat next to me on the train and she smelt so beautiful i had to ask her what she was wearing, when she said hypnotic poison i was so excited to try it bc i’d been a ‘poison girl’ girl for years when i was a bit younger. but i suppose chemicals react differently on everyone bc the musk wasn’t that all that nice when i tested it, i’m a more sweet floral person. it’s not my favourite of the poison collection but i see why people like it, my friend bought it on the spot when i did test it so.. to each their own!

Hypnotic Poison by Dior is the epitome of an enchanting Amber Vanilla fragrance that has withstood the test of time. This scent, over the years, continues to captivate and mesmerize.

Perfect for cold and bad weather, Hypnotic Poison envelops you in a deep, sensual embrace with no sharp edges or high notes. It's a fragrance that speaks of mystery and confidence, making it perfect for confident and alluring women. The captivating and magical essence it exudes makes it an ideal choice for those who appreciate a well-crafted perfume.

As you delve into the scent, you'll find yourself in the embrace of the sexiest coconut-vanilla heavenly devil. The fragrance is a delightful journey from the nozzle to your skin, maintaining its beautiful scent for hours. It's a sweet and warming companion on cold days, perfect for those moments when you want to feel dark and moody, yet not evil.

What sets Hypnotic Poison apart is not just its alluring aroma but its ubiquity. This fragrance is everywhere, and its influence is undeniable. Unfortunately, its popularity has led to numerous attempts at imitation by other brands, a testament to its iconic status. It's a fragrance that not only stands the test of time but continues to set the standard for seductive, mysterious scents. In a world of imitations, Hypnotic Poison remains an original masterpiece.

This is such a calm and beautiful scent. It’s the perfect vanilla musk combination that’s so sexy but at the the same time has a very calming soothing effect. I find the EDT better than EDP.

Rurulandd ♥️

Ok. So I kinda blind bought it, 'kinda' because my aunt gave me a sample and I fell in love with this perfume. So sweet and sexy. It lasted on me all day.
Then I bought it, but honestly I'm not so fond of it, because it has a play-dough type of scent. Still unsure on keeping it or giving it away.

saroraa

I honestly love it. The name and bottle make it sound musky and sexy, but the scent is actually very sweet almond and vanilla.
The powder definitely does give it an old lady feel, but this is for sure my favourite old lady scent. I would wear it daily if I were 30 years older.

SAdemoglu

Honestly, Edp way weaker than Edt on my skin. White flowers says hello for a couple mins and then clove, clove,CLOVE FOREVER!!! I did not take anything different.

daniellecrowe

This is the only bottle that I have bought several times and will continue to buy over and over again.

Its dark but not heavy. Its the smell of the scarf (a scarf for EVERY outfit, so chic, so mature) over my leather bomber circa 2012, tail end of my dance club days. It was released in the mid 90s, but somehow it never smells dated. When I first wore it, I recall being told it was too mature for me. Someone's mother wore it as their signature scent. To be fair, mom smelled great. She was probably wearing it to a cocktail bar to get a real drink.

Its nostalgia and timelessness all rolled into one. I don't get the fruity notes. Just a hint of jasmine. To my nose, its like a blast of root beer booze that mellows into a deep bitter almond vanilla.

Across the shelf at Ulta lies perhaps my all time favorite vanilla perfume, and one of the great triumphs of the noble genre of things that kind of smell like sexy plastic: Dior’s Hypnotic Poison. Conceived as a flanker to the equally revered Poison – Hypnotic Poison was the New Testament to Angel’s Old Testament. Hail full of grace, sinner friend, for the savior of uninspired gourmands is with thee. Projecting a force field of heliotrope and sweet coconut when first applied, it coats the dermis with a thin film of sweetness, lasting the whole day on skin in a Dionysian romp of all things tempting and delicious. I love the fact that Hypnotic Poison is dubbed a ‘play-doh vanilla’ by both detractors and devotees of the scent, as if the public can’t make up their mind about whether or not to revile or praise what sets this perfume apart. Much like the public reception of Angel, this is in my eyes the mark of a truly innovative fragrance. As someone who gleefully applies the Demeter perfume made to smell like actual play-doh, needless to say I find the way in which almond and heliotrope herein conjure played-with pastel mush incredibly endearing. There is a very interesting essay to be written somewhere else on the theoretical link between gourmands overperforming sweetness and something like Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece 1964: masochism, submission, femininity made onto disruptive excess. I alluded to this with Angel, as well, but this is where gourmands begin to become truly interesting for me. When seduction fails, when patriarchal codes designed to attract, repel – repulsion begins to feel something to me like glee. In consequence I theorize, in one of the first moves of Marxist-fragranticist analysis, that all great world-historic perfumes must appear twice: the opening notes as tragedy, and the drydown as farce.

Vstar1

A warm, soothing vanilla gourmand that’s like a warm embrace. It makes me happy every time I wear it.

MrsLang

I remember this smell on older girls and women when I was in middle school. It smells good, but gives me headaches after about an hour, sadly.

Nanalvzpink

I tried Hypnotic Poison on one hand and Burberry Her Elixir on the other and found a great similarity between the two. Elixir being more fruity is what sets them apart to me.

anacervino

such a good perfume!! opens with plum and coconut, then dries down to a very strong vanilla and almonds smell. very good longetivy, i like the projection too. but, it can smell like play doh for some people and i actually don’t find it very “femme fatale megan fox in jennifer’s body killing men and georgina sparks” like people say, i find more cozy sensual like a date night. overall, smells really good and worth the price.

katiesimpsonhair

I’ve just bought a new bottle of this after about 13 years and it’s not how I remember it. It doesn’t have that thick vanilla base to it and this bottle seems lighter and less dense. I’m a bit disappointed as it used to be a heavier fragrance which is what I loved about it. Unless I’m imagining it was different I’m not sure! Maybe it needs to maserate for a bit to get richer. I still love the smell it’s addictive.

Anastuki

The GOAT of perfumes... Best vanilla-almond ever, intoxicating, unique, unforgettable, a Hypnotic Poison indeed!! ❤️❤️❤️

elyssanicole

Dior hypnotic poison will always have a special place in my heart. This was my first designer fragrance and I wore this and nothing else for about a year. So I think I have enough experience with this perfume for me to write a review.

Longevity: On the daily I used about 3 to 4 sprays. And this would last me all day. The next day I could still smell it on my sweater like if I just sprayed it on.

Scent: At first spray, I get mostly the fruity notes (plum, coconut, apricot) mixed with a licorice- like smell. On the dry-down I get, a musky vanilla on skin and a root beer, ice cream, vanilla on clothing.

End notes: I give this fragrance a 5.5/10
I wish the fruity notes stayed throughout the day, that would make the fragrance more rounded.

I stopped wearing this fragrance because I've grown sick of it over the year due to its sickly- sweet smell. Good if you like sweet vanilla or gourmands.

Mac_23

This was my first perfume ever. Smelled it when i was 11 (probably too young for this scent but whatever lol) and i have loved it ever since. Still wearing it over a decade later. It is a perfect mix of vanilla, powder, and woody. To me, this is a staple in my collection. I love wearing this when i am going out for the night and want to feel absolutely beautiful.

bambibimbo

Personally, I think this is a very beautiful and intimate scent. I don't smell playdough or anything negative. However, it's definitely not for everyone. It mixes perfectly with my skin and gives me that sexy creamy cozy vanilla but on my mother it smelled like watered down beer (she's the original Alien type of woman). I'm actually looking forward to wearing it in the summer, regardless it being classified as a strictly winter scent.

mea194

This was my first designer fragrance and I loved it at first sniff. The bottle is absolutely beautiful and really tries to captivate a mysterious sexy villain era vibe. And funny enough, growing up I enjoyed the smell of play dough quite a bit and this scent had a very familiar play dough note in it. I love the softness of the vanilla and almond powder I smell in it, however it is not longer a scent I can bust out on a regular basis due to the sharpness of the play dough smell. I now use it sparingly on special occasions and I enjoy it more this way. ☺️

vitamin_e

I must say that I returned this perfume and miss it dearly now lol...this will be a re-buy for me.

Root beer forward. Licorice. Seductive. Interesting. Actually hypnotic, because I find myself wanting to keep sniffing it. Definitely a night-time scent, but I dare you to be interesting and go out in this in the day. You will get compliments.

ghostthewriter

Very similar to Mmmm from Juliette Has a Gun. Powdery, deep, warm. It's a very intense, sexy smell! The coconut really stands out. The perfect date night perfume!

xrhea

smells like apple playdough ngl i imagine an almond mom wearing this.

zianku

oh boy, this is G O O D. when i smelt this in store on one of those test cards, i wasnt a huge fan and honestly couldnt even smell anything. but i decided to get the rollerpearl version to try anyway and. my god. the smell is so so delicious and vanilla, and not like any vanilla perfume i've had before. this fragrance has such an amazing dark sensual scent that just really mixes beautifully with your natural skin smell (skin smell?). not to mention, it stays on FOREVER. ill put this on after a shower at night and throughout the NEXT day it still smells the same!! tmi but i constantly sniff my wrists now because of just. how good this scent is. this may seem a bit much but im just so excited because ive never had a perfume make me feel like this. if your hesitant or you felt the same as me, i really do recommend using one of the testers to spray this on your skin and then let it simmer for a day. one last big tip! get the rollerpearl!! honestly rollers give you so much more wear time, plus you dont have that alcohol scent after immediately spraying. and the bottle is still cute just like the apple lol

stella.cherie

While I have Eau Sensuelle in my collection, today was the first time that I tested Hypnotic Poison while at Sephora. I understand the hype around this fragrance with its deliciousness and depth. However, with both this and Eau Sensuelle, the scent turns cardboard-like with my skin chemistry. Longevity was about 3-4 hours. May have to declutter my bottle of Eau Sensuelle. DM me if you'd like to swap for any of the unicorns on my "want" shelf.

Best of the best

Heliodora

It's not a coincidence this is one of the most popular perfumes of all time. Thought this would be a safe bet for a blind buy, and I was not wrong - it's vanilla and almond primarily, but you will not smell like straight Christmas vanilla rolls, the sweetness is toned way down; there is also a prominent creaminess and woodiness from the sandalwood, balancing out the gourmand notes, making it very seductive. Some people also get notes of fruit, smoke/incense or something fresh, but I did not get that on my skin. Also do not get anything akin to Play-Doh. My mother in law said it's a very strong perfume, when I've worn this (even though I did not overspray), so that speaks about the projection power of this fragrance. :D It also lasts very long and is great for layering. My favorite combo is to layer this with something, that has a cherry note, or orange/orange blossom.

SSolstice

Just came here to say yeah… I get the hype. Nutty, deep, intoxicating. So beautiful to catch a whiff of in the winter air. It’s no wonder she’s a timeless beauty!

Nelliexoxo

I got this one for Christmas and fell in love with it, it's so calming and sweet. It reminds me of a mature mom who raised you, took care of you, picked you up from the kindergarten and read you stories, in other words, it's very comforting! Such a shame my main criteria for perfume is long lasting sillage and this perfume definitely didn't give me that. It disappears after an hour and no one can smell it on me, which is a shame cause lots of people say that back in the day it used to be insane. I'll try to overspray a bit but if that still doesn't work, I'm selling it. Not worth the money when you can't even smell it after the whole day!

Belphegor

I was in love at first sniff, it is sweet yet dark, heavy but not overwhelming though it certainly catches attention. This was my first designer perfume and it is still one of my all time favorites. This perfume the dark and edgy pinup girl with red lipstick and heavy eyeliner, yet expensive look

Phocoenas

My bottle is only 3 months old according to the batch code. it fades fast but I'm thinking that letting it macerate will help alot! it smells so good, im not detecting any play doh or rootbeer on my skin so im very happy!

deadxxxmoon

Dark vanilla...almond. It's a very nice, sultry scent that's great and cozy for cold weather.

Gokyyy11

I don’t know the older formulation (EDT) but I can tell the new bottles are awful in terms of longevity and sillage although it’s still one of the best fragrance in the community. It is too dark and seductive, anise and almond are perfectly dancing together. I wish it were well-performer instead of skin scent:(

Yoanvanesa257

Ordered it for Christmas from Douglas and for sure this can not be a Dior perfume. Disappears almost immediately, has no silage, no performance nothing. What did happened to Hypnotic poison edt, I don't remember to be that poor quality.

Anarig97

I love this...I was skeptical due to the mixed reviews, but I am becoming obsessed the longer I wear it. One reviewer stated that this reminds them of root beer, and I agree. Interestingly, I hate root beer in real life, and I don't even really care for the smell, but this is just so delectable on the skin. Sultry is definitely the correct word to use to describe this scent. I will say the complaints about longevity may be true. I only have a small tester, so I didn't spray much, but I do think it is dissipating pretty quickly. Since I do love the scent, I want to buy a full bottle so I can really put this perfume to the test. However, overall, I am very impressed!

silvertealight

i really wanted to like this :( i bought this as a blind-buy after a recommendation from my older cousin. she wore it back in the day and everyone around her would go crazy for it so she had me sold! unfortunately, it's way too mature for me. i can see myself wearing this when i'm older so i've saved it on my shelf. it does smell elegant but it's too creamy, powdery and sickly for me. i'm not a fan of the sweet almond extract vibe. it kinda smells medicinal before dry-down and i hate the bourbon smell in the opening. it does have intense silage and lasting power though! but since i don't acc love the scent i find it unpleasant. it's also quite overpowering so 1-2 sprays is enough, i did like 5 sprays one time and had car-sickness my entire journey lmao.

if mature extremely powdery gourmand notes are your thing you'll love this! but at this moment in my life, it just doesn't fit my vibe.

Krstnd

I agree with the recent comments about the longevity being poor. Has anyone actually tried letting it macerate? If so, did it make any difference at all? I don't want to waste time macerating it and not using HP if it's not going to make a difference. TIA

jswenson

I'm thinking maybe the new formulation in the bright red bottle needs time to macerate. That same bright red bottle was a tester at ulta and it smelled like heaven and lasted all day on my skin. Gosh I hope it will get better with time these reviews are scary, I just bought a 5 ounce bottle. I guess we'll see

Itsdombby

Would be one of my signatures, if the longevity wasn’t lack luster. Latest formulation is booty. So sad.

batuhanavci

The latest formulation with the bright red bottle with a silver ring around the neck and silver lettering on the bottle instead of gold has terrible performance. 6 sprays barely lasted an hour, then the scent vanished into thin air. How very disappointing. Shame on you Dior!

motherqueen

I have this perfume and I just can't bring myself to fall in love with it. I want to so bad, but to me, it smells like black licorice and rootbeer. I don't know it just smells like an old perfume. I will say that it does last very long, I wore it to an 8-hour shift and it stayed on. I think I am gonna give it a couple of more wears before I decide to give it away.

nihmhie

Smells like the sexiest coconut-vanilla heavenly devil. Absolutely adore this scent, zero sharpness. Smells delicious from nozzle to skin, stays the same beautiful scent for hours. No weird notes, very simple fragrance. Would recommend for Winter or when you want to feel dark and moody, yet not evil lol. Sweet and warming on a cold day.

lanadelreyy

SOOO YUMMY. i always get compliments and asked what i'm wearing. sexy sweet yummy. i smell some of that play doh scent people talk about but it doesn't take away from the perfume. i think definitely test on your skin to see how it reacts with your own chemistry. will always be my fav.

babypong

Not as dark or sexy as I expected., I understand the play doh scent people are talking about but I think that’s just almond and vanilla. Definitely almond heavy. If you like this you probably would also like Pacifica silver moon, which is a great deal considering the performance and the price. They are very very similar in the almond notes but not quite a dupe as silver moon lacks vanilla, perhaps making it more mature than hypnotic poison and taking away the “play doh” smell. Overall hypnotic poison smells good, but personally I prefer silver moon as my example of an almond heavy perfume in my collection.

VRIN

I love the original Eau the Parfum, I still have a couple of bottles I got way back. The newer one is a bit less creamy; I am trying to like it but keep going back to the original. It's strong, I decant mine in a 10ml stainless steel ball glass roller bottle and only dot lightly. It stays close to my skin, it's so delicious and long lasting. It's my fav fragrance with the Channel Allure Sensuelle ELEXIR, I also dot that one, very strong otherwise and overwhelming. I hated both at first but once it settles it will seduce you and you will fall in love!

metaangel

my first dior perfume i've ever purchased! I love this scent so far it's perfect for the colder/holiday season. I was drawn to the notes of vanilla and bitter almond. I definitely feel like a more mature woman wearing this. It's a different type of vanilla... she is grown and getting her life together but still a carefree person. My only disappointment was the longevity. I'm not able to smell it on me after a few hours which was a bummer. It had reviews of a long lasting longevity so that was a letdown. Maybe I got a bad bottle? But I do plan on repurchasing when I finish it.

dulcecaramelo

Absolutely gorgeous! It’s seductive, different and addictive. You can feel it only from up close but once you do it’s very noticeable. My boyfriend loved it, but only when it was settled in my skin. Once I reapplied he mentioned the play dough which is hilarious given that I never showed him reviews so he came up with that on his own. He wasn’t a fan of the top notes but I love it! I get what people mean but play dough doesn’t smell bad to me lol. It’s very rich and addictive, sweet but grown and seductive. I will be wearing this non stop.

Glambunni

I've been on a vanilla hunt a couple years now and this was one that was recommended. I tested this today at a local department store and I was pleasantly surprised by the scent. I'd describe it as sweet, powdery vanilla that's quite suttle. Would I buy it though? Ummm...it's not quite the cozy creamy vanilla I prefer.

Astaria_Rex

Hypnotic Poison is not named correctly. It is absolutely HYPNOTIC, but there is nothing nefarious about it, to insinuate "poison" or "darkness" or "death" so to speak. Quite the opposite. It is soft and sensual, but you WILL acknowledge it. Lively in a way, that is vanilla on the wings of an early summer thunder storm in the Great Plains. This fragrance in the EDP is exquisite, dimensional, timeless. Warm, sugary, inviting, proper yet daring, sweet, earthy, playful and relaxed: BUT this woman "has her shit together." This fragrance is a woman of the 90's. She is no wallflower.
"Mature" is a note, of course. The powdery note of a well-dressed, composed woman. She is a refined woman with a full face of soft makeup, but is not in a suit jacket on her way to the office. Her shoes aren't cheap or boring. Probably a designer you haven't heard of. She doesn't work in an office. She is worldly and creative, approachable, but she works with her hands. That's the hint of woods and paper you smell. Your throat goes a little numb. Her coffee requires liberal cream, exotic spice and sugar, dark espresso swirled with lactonic cream, exotic pepper, cloves and vanilla. Her lipstick is not matte, but creamy and is impeccable at all times. A perfectly lined, sweet and supple almond kiss. Her scarf is cashmere, her hair is careless undone curls. Her bright green eyes shine. She is ready for and willing to participate in anything that comes her way. Casual, honest and simple, like old fashioned licorice candy. Her smile is her greatest attribute. That Julia Roberts Pretty Woman kind of smile.

SofiaNo.5

A magical potion that is far from being flat, predictable or generic. This is truly a "creation", not a "production". You can tell this scent was carefully crafted by someone who put thought into it. It opens fruity, floral and a little in-your-faceish, but settles into a beautiful toasty sweet hedonistic marzipan, although it still smells like a perfume and not like something edible you could drink from the bottle. Lasts a long time on clothes.

Note: some say that Sweet Hope by La Rive is a dupe for Hypnotic Poison, but I would say it definitely is NOT. What I can say though is if you like HP, you will most likely also enjoy Sweet Hope and vice versa. But no, you won't fool anyone with the La Rive version, plus the longevity and sillage of SH and HP should not even be spoken of in the same sentence. You can smell HP days after spraying it on your clothes. You can smell SH for about 10 minutes before it disappears without a trace.

Heathermarie8617

Finally tried this a couple times and yep, I love this...and bonus, my hubby does too. I do get a "root beer" feel in the opening but luckily I do not smell anything that comes across "play-doh" esque. This is addicting.

juujsju

Pode ser usado tanto no inverno quanto no verão, cheiro fixa na pele e é perfeito pra quem curte essa área gourmand
Achei muito caro pra algo com tão pouca projeção porém se você não se importar em gastar dinheiro ele é valido

MareaCamacho

This brings me way back to the times where my mom and dad had platinum memberships to a tropical island themed Waterpark. We would go every other weekend and have a blast. This scent reminds me of seeing beautiful tourists glamorously adorned in the most luxurious bikinis sipping on coconut juice right out of the shell as they laid on the white poolside loungers. My own mother used this as well and I remember it was way stronger than what it is now.

This scent has that creamy coconut but not in a overly synthetic way...this is the coconut you get when you blend the manha with ice, almond milk, vanilla beans, and topped with amaretto syrup, almond slivers, and a crisp cherry. (Even tho there is no cherry in here but it has that type of vibe) I'm thinking that might be courtesy of the plum and apricots in here blended with the creaminess of the sandalwood.
It's decadent.
It's such a love.
Hypnotic for sure.
My nose rediscovered this scent this year and while it's not the same powerhouse it was when it first came out- it still has a soft spot in my heart.

. It is the scent of my childhood. What better than hypnotic poison - thank you mom.

reminds me of fond memories I've had with my family ..having a loving and kind mom, a playful dad always by our side, and our family just being together enjoying the time we have.

The time and scene was a Beautiful summer with wonderful sunsets.

This scent evokes the feeling I get when I'm at peace watching the sun go down after a long day breeze in hair and the sky is full of pinks, oranges, blues, and purples. The air is cold after a sunny day. My love wrapped around my waist. The sun is slowly dropping and yet it's over so fast and the moon comes out shortly after within the next couple hours.

The only thing that pains my heart is the strength of the scent now.. I wish it was how it was the way I remembered it. It's definitely watered down. Still a beauty tho. I'll always repurchase due to the nostalgic factor alone. It'll forever be in my collection.
❤️

Deliza1997

It is a powdery vanilla forward fragrance with subtle sweetness. To my nose it smells like a little sweeter and gourmand version of Narciso Rodriguez Poudree. The powdery aspect of it gives some people play-doh vibe but luckily i don't get it. It's a mature fragrance so It will not resonate with many people but personally I like it a lot. It smells pleasant with two/three sprays. Performance is bomb.If mature powdery notes brother you please don’t buy it. I think it is designed for a little older demographic who don't like super sweet and fruity scents.

renchay

It smells like an unbearable amount of Play-Doh to me.

BigReps540

All I smelled was Play-Doh. I am guessing it is the vanilla, musk, and tuberose.

IVamp

One of my favorite classics. It's addictive but one has to be careful not to overdo it. It's very bittersweet, ripe, and creamy. A hot and dark fragrance for winter/fall nights. I imagine it on a voluptuous brunette with a dark bordeaux red dress and lipstick. Powerful but soft presence with no sharp notes, great longevity and sillage that leaves an intoxicating sweet trail. So, yes, of course, I love it.

Scissorslizardspock

Root beer float. In the best way possible. No specific note is detectable, it’s just the smell of root beer and vanilla bean ice cream. And who could be mad about that?

verytrulylauren

Not a fan. SO strong (it’s a headache type of fragrance) & not what I expected at all reading the notes.

Zethre

I get lots of almond, a hint of vanilla. The florals a more of a sort of enrichment of the almond than individual jasmine, tuberose etc I get a sort of generally rich, deep almond rather than floral as such.
Very nice.

Also, very very similar to Confetto, which is 5 times the price!

g!tterb!tch515

Smells strongly of root beer at first, but turns into a sweet vanilla. I have mixed feelings about this fragrance.

cottonpuff_

When I tried this perfume 5 years ago, I hated it. But now I love it! It smells way different with my skin chemistry now vs before. Back then, I detected a lot of coconut, which disappointed me because I wanted to get the vanilla almond.

Re-visiting it recently, now I don't get any coconut. I get a balanced combination of vanilla and almond. It's so intoxicating and cozy. I love spraying this on a scarf during winter because I get wafts of this throughout the day. It also kinda smells like root-beer which is nice
(i got a comment before saying this doesn't smell like beer but I think they just don't know what root-beer is. Root-beer is a type of sweet soda! Not like regular alcoholic beer at all haha)

Projection and sillage is about medium, not too loud & not too quiet.

CherryWavesforever

this comes to my mind for "the scent of a woman" It seems like a basic fragrance at first but i find myself drawn to that simplicity. Spice from the almond and vanilla, sweetness from coconut, plum and apricot. A must have imo. Sillage is moderate, i would say "enough" for a perfume as sweet as this. i can smell this on my clothes in the morning but not on my skin. and its bottle is a plus. such a pretty bottle! i feel like i am holding a red apple. but the fragrance has no apple notes.

CleoCleopatrat

This, to me, smells like toothpaste unfortunately. The bottle is pretty tho

Gres

Like it but i just wear it very lightly during winter cuz i get easily headaches with this one

aflakes

Wow, I love it. This fragrance is still relevant after all these years, and for good reason. Fortunately, HP edt works with my skin chemistry and I don't get the play doh. I mainly get a soft, airy, almondy vanilla scent with a slight touch of coconut.

evilchristopher7

slutty play-doh

e0quee

I can definetely smell vanilla. Overall to me this perfume smells like some cheap strawberry incense sticks. I dont hate it, just don't like that weird burnt note.

E1X

I'm a dude and i prefer wearing this over PDM's pegasus, if your skin chemistry allows for it this is amazing on a guy. :)

russianprincess98

Every time I smell HP I feel so nostalgic... I picture my mom in early 2000s putting makeup on her way to have lobster with her rich friends, 90s glamour, Ugly Betty/Devil Wears Prada playing in the background and vintage NY fashion shows. I also envision Julia Fox, Gabbriette or Kate Moss wearing this, thin eyebrows, glossy red lips, velvety textures and faux fur coats. Femme fatale exterior but super sweet interior. I'm just so in love with this perfume, the scent is sooo cozy & comforting, but it has this nostalgic vibe to it. 💕 This is my signature for winter/autumn!

angelica4444

Smells like turkish raki. I’m not joking. Anise in here probably makes this but i don’t want to smell like raki so it’s a no for me

zenbabylove

I have posted a review for HP before and I’m now on my 4th bottle so it’s definitely safe to say that this is one of my signature scents at this point.I originally could not stand this scent! but years went by and I tried it on at Sephora and was immediately taken in.It has a powdery, vanilla extract vibe and I can see the root beer, almond comparisons.I know that Adele,Madonna and Chrissy Teigan all call Hypnotic Poison their favorite perfume.I can see why it has a cult following because there’s truly NOTHING like it! It is warm, radiating and sweet and perfect for a gourmand frag lover but it’s not over the top sweet! I’d say it’s the older sophisticated sister-scent to Warm Vanilla Sugar.I love, love, love!

perfectly_pink

This fragrance, is very powdery and soft. I know it’s a vanillary fragrance but it’s not super sweet, it’s airy and powdery and there’s also a lot of other stuff going on, I pick out the coconut particularly. I sometimes crave this fragrance when I want something cozy, but once I put it on I don’t enjoy wearing, it smells very mature. I remember working with someone whose signature scent was this and she was in her early twenties and it suited her, I think this fragrance has to suit you, I like the fragrance on others. Just to note, the plum and apricot notes don’t stand out, however these are notes I don’t like in fragrance and I’m sure it contributes to my overall feeling towards the fragrance.

pureangelgirl

One of the best vanillas. So pretty, feminine, sweet and sultry. I do get the play-doh note, but personally I don't really mind that. It's great all year round and definitely not headache-inducing to me.

Boba2908

When I first smelt this fragrance I fell in love with it and bought it at that moment. I wore it for a couple days but when I told my fiancé to smell it, he said it reminded him of cheap wafer vanilla biscuits and plastic. Since then, that's the only thing I can smell when I use it. I haven't reached for it in a while. I would suggest testing it as it can have a bit of a chemical and synergic smell to it and can be nauseatingly sweet. If you love a good yummy vanilla gourmand, then this is for you! The longevity is 5-6 hours and sits quite close to the skin. For me, all I get is vanilla and almond at the start to the very end. Buy a tester or roller ball before deciding to splurge on it!

chlorophyll24

Smells like root beer with a hint of play-doh to me.

nosedupnorth

This fragrance is polarizing; very much a love or hate situation. I love the sweetness that doesn't smell like cheap vanilla and many say it smells like playdoh which I can't smell. It's warm, enveloping and memorable.

Elena_Dz

It killed me. From a safe distance (15 cm away from the wrist) it's inviting, rich, magnetic and sweet. When I try to feel it directly from the skin it's so true to its name, almost causing my stomach to turn, too strong. I feel this perfume is like a thick aura keeping everyone around you at the safe distance, but that is not what I want from a perfume :D

kellyvandertogt

LOVE the original formulation! Powder, warm, vanilla and spaces hmmmm! 😍 New formulation is a day and night difference, a true SCRUBBER! It was nauseating to me and I wanted to get it off my skin asap 😪

cleoclesi

All of the rumors are true. The magic of Hypnotic Poison is in the way it radiates. Like a true poison apple, Hypnotic Poison entices from afar. It projects wave after wave of milky vanilla and almonds, the tidal silage ebbing and flowing but never losing potency. Dig your nose too deep into your wrist, however, and you’ll find yourself choked by powder and play-doh. An olfactory Monet, unmatched by its peers and gorgeous on a cold, rainy day.

mekanazekana

I Hate it. Almost vomited, received one as a gift, and after first try decide to gift it to someone else. I just could not stand it. Definitely not my cup of tea. It's too strong, gives headache and nausea.

lhembree17

This smells so almond-y to me, from spray to drydown. It's definitely sweet, like an almond croissant or coffee, but I think it gives it a bit of a playdough quality others have mentioned. I love the smell of almond but it can be kind of jarring, so I really only wear in cold weather. It is a compliment getter though! Not too offensive but lasts pretty long and projects just the right amount.

2castiel

i much prefer the EDP, but i do think the EDT is more likeable to a larger audience

usera19

Good, but smells a bit like playdough.

RoseAtDusk

It's unique and I loved it when I first tried it, although after reading reviews about this smelling like play-dough, I can't get that association out of my head. It definitely does have a play-dough scent. I like wearing this perfume occasionally, when I want to smell more playful. The almond is cherry-like and the creamy vanilla makes it gourmand.

Sosnovska1533

one of my favorites for sure, too bad it doesn’t last long on my skin, no more than 1h :( would love to purchase it more often if it wasn’t this expensive.

It smells like a mysterious, sexy, gorgeous woman, who got a black dress on and red lipstick. Totally recommended to wear it on dates.

renperd

Having applied six generous sprays of the original release edt early this morning, I received a compliment from another guy: it smells of lashings of vanilla ice cream, great stuff. The white flowers and fruit seem to calm down an hour or two in, leaving delicious helpings of Häagen-Dazs or some such high end treat trailing for hours. The jasmine does seem to resurface occasionally, but is well behaved. I recommend, male, female, etc.

fragrancenovice

I'm basing this perfume on a decant of the EDP from Surrender To Chance. It's OK. I liked it when I first put it on, but as I wore it over the day, I mostly got sweet powder. And vanilla. It reminds me of L'Heure Bleue without the heady florals. Or Shalimar, which sadly comes across as pure powder on me.

This one just doesn't work well on me - body chemistry, I guess. There are fragrances I like a lot better. It doesn't smell all that special or distinctive on me. I don't get a lot of notes or much depth. I did get good longevity from it on my perfume eating skin, so there's that. I apologize to all the fervent fans who love it!

I'd say be careful with wearing this to the office. If you sit close to people all day, or if you work with someone who's sensitive to fragrance, it could be a problem. And I'd stick to one spray for daytime wear.

I think it's not a safe blind buy. Try it out before you commit to an expensive full bottle. Also, I don't think it's a safe gift unless you're sure of the recipient's taste.

Overall: 6/10.

Edit: And it's not true that Dior fired Bella Hadid over her support for Palestine. Her contract with Dior ended in 2022.

Puuteri

I kind of like this and was going to buy this, but no more Dior for me. They just replaced Bella Hadid because... well, you know. Maybe vintage then, it is better anyway.

konga5

How sad. All the reviews coming in are based on the NEW formula not the original . (Among others) The entire POISON Line was destroyed by Dior years ago (the LAST time any of them smelled close to the originals was before 2014. SOMETHING happened in between 2013-2016 with MANY classic perfumes). So it's kinda like reviewing The Rolling Stones of TODAY and saying they don't sound so good OR look too good. I wish Dior could just have discontinued all of them -- to retire with DIGNITY (kinda like how Madonna should have retired after Ray of Light). Lastly , it's like a review of Johnny Depp with saying "He looks old and sounds like he smokes 2 packs a day". P.S. Hypnotic Poison was never "vanilla centric" to begin with . The vanilla kinda got used for the froth on the rootbeer float.

sarnachasegv

What can I say: it's straight up Dr. Pepper. Not in a bad way, though.

trebejos

I love this perfume! Sadly, it doesn't work with my skin chemistry. Delicious in everyone else but me.

russianprincess98

This is my favorite perfume ever (EDT). I expected something harsh/loud, but this beauty is the opposite. She's creamy, soft, comforting but with an edge. She's a hug from an enchanted princess who lives in a dark castle. Sweet, nostalgic, mysterious, hypnotic... it will slowly lure you like a siren song. I simply can't resist her.

MagdalenaM

Eau Sensuelle was always my favorite, but as it was discontinued Ive turned to this one, and sorry to say, but it was too late. Somewhere along the line Ive started to get bored of this scent profile. It is beautiful, but much like the fragrances such as Alien for example, Im just kinda over it. I still fully get why people love it, but to me it says overworn, overused, I get the same reaction to a yet another Baccarat dupe. The thrill is gone.

Ihatecords

I love this perfume with my whole heart. Lasts days on clothes and 7-9 hour on skin (in my experience)

ljsmith

The opening has a bit of sunscreen (probably the coconut), but it is clean and creamy and not green or tropical. As it dries down it gets nuttier and more gourmand but stays lotiony in a very pleasant way. I see how people get play doh but it isn’t super up front or aggressive. No sharp edges but still great performance, which is a combination that I think can be hard to find. Definitely a crowd pleaser, I can see why this scent is so popular.
Hot tip: layering Hypnotic Poison with one spray of Initio’s Psychedelic Love makes a divine combination.

HappiestGirl

the poison line is like depeche mode in a bottle and i love it. vampy, seductive, mysterious. will forever be mad i didn't pick up a bottle of this perfume to wear before i saw depeche mode live, it would have been perfect to wear for the concert. enough 80s new wave talk, i love dark, mysterious perfumes.

Fragaddict4u

Such a classic!! She’s deep, rich & a little powdery. The bitter almond weaves in & out of billowy musks & clouds of Tonka. A background of vanilla crème smooths everything out leaving a comforting & intoxicating aura surrounding you. An absolute staple!

lauren1nader

Another perfect winter fragrance. Deep, strong and cozy!

jshough

If you love the smell of Play-Doh like me, getting this is a no brainer. It’s not 100% exactly the same but it is pretty darn close. This is among the best renditions of an almond fragrance I’ve ever smelled. I’m definitely considering making this my signature scent… I bought this for me, and my wife is begging me to buy her a bottle for Christmas, too! It has decent performance—I’ll probably let it macerate more before really judging that. I’m sure this has been reformulated dozens of times, which is unfortunate because this smells absolutely divine. I hope it macerates into beast mode territory eventually.

EDIT: I ended up deciding not to make it my signature, but I gave the bottle to my wife as a very early Christmas present and she adores it. I’ll definitely be buying another for myself. May sample the EDP to see if I love that one even more.

Bkboynxtdoor

This is my 3rd review on this lol. I am struggling with her these days! I remember when I first smelled this it was at a dept store counter in the bottle before this that was rounder, and it was so unique and sweet to me. A very unusual mature vanilla. It was on my list for years n years and I bought a 30ml eventually. I liked it, but I’m struggling to really like it these days. I usually break it out only in October, but I feel like the almond is so bitter and dry that it is just so flat to me now? I also don’t find it to last long at all on me anymore, it’s a very musk-almond with a dusty dusty vanilla. I’m really sad because this used to be THE sweet vamp perfume I loved, I just can’t seem to mesh well with it anymore :(
Versace crystal noir although also reformulated, works for me still in summer. Mugler Angel and the new infamous Angel elixr give me that better sweet that this once satisfied. I love love love the bottle but I might have to retire it after this year.

Ch3rrybomb

honestly id say this smells like a sweet French escort

mxrtified777

is no one else seeing the "beast mode almond" mentioned in the cons section?? am i going crazy??

Suncica7

How I like my perfume to be- a little bit of vintage, creamy creamy creamy, musky, very luxury rich vibes, a little bit of arrogance, a little bit of surprise, and a little just a tiny tiny little bit of bitterness.

And this has it all. I see ppl are saying it is so sweet. I am not a fan of random sweetness, nothing sexy there for me. This is sweet but far in the background. As a matter of fact- there is this constant bitter touch that is rebellious - how dare you be bitter, how dare you not be a people pleaser? It's amazing.

It has a strong but subtle character. It reminds me of cozy childhood next to the fire place while outside is terribly windy. It reminds me of family and safe place and a warm bed and never being lonely. It also reminds me of dreams and wishes to be adult young girl, like those I would come across smelling like this and dressing up and dancing and loving.

The almond note is heaven on earth, the spicy something I sense is heaven as well and the musk is must have. I wonder if ther eis some other very clean musk fragrance to layer it with this, for better projection? Hmmm... and no for me this is not a dark scent at all. The moment it hits the skin, it is a skin scent, warm, cozy, sexy, creamy, cuddly, not a vampire kind of a thing, which I would not be into anyway.

Not a blind buy. No way. Especially because I find it very mature and a little bit vintage. I am 31, and for now, I have never smelled any girl in the 20s wearing it, and around where I live, thank God tho, coz I do not like to smell like everyone, what a nightmare.
Not safe for blind buy. It is a cold weather fragrance. And it smells like money. Wonderful. It smells like comfort. It smells like you can wake up and not think about money nor struggle for the existence.

Hesssa21

Very much a gourmand, sweet, autumn/winter vibe perfume to me. I usually don't like to assign seasons/time of day/occasions to a fragrance but this perfume really reminds me of that time of the year.

It's very sweet and and usually described to be a typical gourmand but I believe that the almond , sandalwood and musk make it more unique and drive it into more of a ladylike/elegant gourmand fragrance. Vanilla is also quite potent in this.

Until people described it as play-doughy I wouldn't have been able to put my finger on it but it's definitely not a deal breaker. If you're unsure don't blind buy especially if you don't typically like gourmand/vanilla scents.

Only thing I'd say is beware not to spray too much of this as it can become a bit too sweet and headache inducing.

strawberrymochi

i really like this! it smells like a rootbeer float when first sprayed, then develops into a almond scent. very nice :-)

Marinka71

Hey y'all, I just tried lots of different perfumes in Hamburg airport duty free shop and this one was the one that stole the show for me.

An avid hater of original Poison since 1985, I was keen on trying this as the reviews pointed to a scent that I might like.

This on me smells like atomic marzipan, vanilla, almond and loads of sugar with a hint of plum.
Sweet gourmand well done. A tad too much sugar and almond, pointing to possible headache in the long run.
A like. Not love.

blondeamber

I still love Hypnotic Poison. For years and years I thought I just didn’t like fragrances. I didn’t like 90% of the perfumes I smelled on other people and I didn’t like the few perfumes I smelled at the department stores. So for years and years I didn’t wear a fragrance, until I smelled Hypnotic Poison! It was so smooth, creamy and cozy to my nose. I was really happy I finally liked a perfume, so I searched for similar ones online. And that’s when I fell down the rabbit hole, yep. I still love this one, although of course there are other ones I love more now.

Mshapiro2115

A staple in my large collection of fragrances. This scent instantly takes me back to being a child and my mother and father dressing up to go out for the night and my mother smelling so sweet with a hint of spice and she smelled so sweet, sultry and glam and I was obsessed with smelling her perfumes as a child. Hypnotic Poison was always my favorite of many. It opens up with a shot of vanilla and coconut( I do not pull the coconut on my skin) with a musk and Oriental spice dry down. Some say Play Doh and I can understand the comparison but this scent t is so much more, that different people get different results from this scent. It lasts a good 4-5 hours on skin, longer on clothes. I just bought a new 100 ml bottle from Sephora so I'm set for the winter. This is definitely 100% a fall, winter scent. It's cozy and warm and just brings back so much nostalgia. I will always have a bottle in my collection!

nikxx

electaplume

This is my all-time favorite, my signature scent. Whenever I wear it, I feel undeniably sexy—it's a genuine confidence booster. The notes are impeccably blended, resulting in a wonderfully complex and truly unique scent overall. There's a good reason why this perfume is so popular; it's a timeless classic.

Some people claim it has a resemblance to the scent of play dough, and I can definitely see that, but it doesn't bother me. In fact, I find it rather alluring. It's perfect for those chilly winter and autumn nights when I'm heading out. My only wish is that it lasted a bit longer.

idkcool

its ok, but lowkey smells like mint toothpaste....and gives migraine i dont like it

sparecaim

It’s good and sort of unique. Just a little weird with the playdough scent

Maki

With the smallest amount I get to smell like an almond cake and I'm not complaining. Wouldn't say that it smells sensual on me, but it sure is pleasant! Warm and cozy, fireplace and christmas thoughts inducing. A little goes a long way, lasts eternally. Do not overspray! You'll make people around you sick probably. This fragrance has been on the market for many years but it's not outdated at all. I'd recommend it to someone older then 20

whiteorchid23

I always liked this perfume on others but not myself. I don't like how strong it is. It makes me a bit nauseus. Not for me.

Vanilljmaniac

Some said this scent is presenting a person eating rich white chocolate in a room full of white flowers. I think this is very accurate review. On my skin first note always go away so quickly. I feel the mixture of jasmin, vanilla and almond goes along for 3-4 hours. I like it. I recommend this to those who need almond floral vanilla scent for coming cold season.

emily385

I like it! It projects well and it lasts forever on the skin. It's not so overwhelming that it will give you a headache. The opening can sometimes smell like root beer or liquorice to me, but the scent is pleasant once it's dried down a bit. I like wearing it in the winter because it's a bit of a heavier scent

Eve_evolution

This is beautiful, delicious, captivating, creamy, delightful, bitter- almondy- vanilla cupcake. It also smells perfumey, not girly or infantile. It smells like voluptuous gorgeous woman in her mid-30s, wearing expensive make up, with straight white teeth and shiny hair, an empress, a successful shop owner. Love this scent and its ‘dupes, Valentina Valentino, bouquet d’oro. A delight in a bottle.

Lovisgrovis

I bought Zaras Hypnotic vanilla, supposed to be a dupe on this one. I really love Zaras version and had not smelled the original HP. So I tried it, since it supposed to be more elavated ir complex. Ive never experienced a fragnance fall flat or like playboy before but UGH. It really do smell like clay on my skin and its very subtile? I fint it super interesting. Not for me ovbiosly. Lucky i got Zaras version of it. For you whos slintype doesnt carry this fragnance i rexpmand you to try zaras hypnotic vanilla!

simplecowgirl

kittenpawz if you can hear me, and anyone else listening. I totally made an account after i read your review because i felt the same way about hypnotic poison. I'd read all about it and wanted to try it so bad. I fell in love with it but also felt that "i wish this scent could penetrate my skin and seep into my bones" vibe. I bought products to compliment this perfume because i wanted to use it as my everyday scent.

Anyway i recommend l'occitane's almond products. Some smell different than others so try at your own discretion. My personal favorites are the Almond Supple Skin Oil and the Almond Milk Veil lotion, I'll throw those on after a sower and feel so damn luxurious. I also recommend a bar of Sultana Of Soap from Lush. It really leans into that 'sweet italian desert' scent family and balances things in my opinion. I also love the scrubee from lush. What better way to introduce more sweet almond that to literally exfoliate with almonds. I haven't found a deodorant i like to compliment my collection, i've been trying various vanilla ones, but nothing has really hit the spot.

xoxo -hope any of this is helpful!

ingenpen

A sophisticated seductress. A lady enveloped in mystery that everyone who comes across her wants to solve. She is very busy and above everyone else. A little distant yet so alluring.

This is a true masterpiece. A great name for it too, it describes the scent perfectly.

Delrey2002

Of the top 3 perfumes I have ever worn. Always gets me compliments and it lasts all day. Leaves a very sweet but mysterious vibe. It's my signature scent for winter/fall.

natasha28

Dior hypnotic poison - I was really excited to try this, but it's just okay. It has an incense/woody/ slight powder-like note similar to JPG that I like. I just can't seem to get into cherry scents, I find the typical cherry sweetness too juvenile. This one is mature, but just not my thing. I love an almond scent, it's not strong in this perfume though. It's a similar flanker to Dior Poison Girl. I wouldn't buy it or keep it if gifted. It's not very strong for a Dior perfume, as it just sits a bit more than close to skin. I like Dior Pure Poison much better. I think it could be unisex. Prob for ppl on their 30s+

kittenpawz

My first poison fragrance. In fact I've decided it was *my* fragrance long before I added it to the cart. In my head it was custom tailored for me, from my favorite bottle color to the name, the notes, bottle design, the box and everything. We were meant to be. And I just love Dior's superb makeup, especially lipsticks. I've noticed a pattern here: if I don't like makeup produced by a designer brand, I won't like their perfumes either. I was choosing between Hypnotic Poison and Miss Dior EDP 2021 and went with my first choice which had become an obsession by that point. Blind bought 30ml.

Then a thought crossed my mind - "people who like this also like" all kinds of stuff I can't tolerate. Reading reviews on 3 different sites: bitter, playdoh, not a real gourmand, too musky, too chemical, cough syrup, headache inducing, harsh woods, dusty furniture, nauseating, vulgar, salty - what have I committed to?! I even thought to cancel my order and try to find a way to test it. But then again, reviews of Crystal Noir EDP paint a picture of a fragrance I wouldn't even stand close to, let alone sample, yet I am quite fond of it, and it turns into a delicate floral coconut on my skin.

I received my little poison friend, unwrapped it like the most precious thing on earth, sprayed on my wrists, took a sniff and immediately felt avenged for all my previous blind buy fails. "You've got a friend in me" kind of comfort from it reaching out to my heart to fill me with joy. Not star crossed lovers anymore but real twin flames.

The scent itself, oh, where should I start. Waxy "playdoh" is there in the opening. Gross? As someone who can't stand "quirky" scents... No, not gross (and here's hoping I won't come back to eat my own words). It won't haunt you the entire time you wear it either. Strangely enough vanilla-centered fragrances often turn a tad chocolate-y on my skin,
D&G The One has that kind of vanilla too. I still have no idea what people mean by "non-gourmand vanilla".
Cough syrup? Eh, if La Petite Robe Noir didn't have the cherry note (I feel the urge to add - and if it was a good perfume, pardon moi), they could be cousins or even half-siblings. LPRN eau de cough syrup pissed me off but I'm of the opinion that if you like it, you have a high chance of liking Hypnotic Poison EDT.
Now back to the lipsticks. Rouge Dior smells like Dior Hypnotic Poison to an extent (velvet shades specifically, they don't all smell the same, just tested) - the lipstick is not sweet and more waxy - oh wait, that must be the playdoh other people smell?! Well now you know what to do to get hypnotically poisoned to the maximum.
Occasionally I catch a whiff of something really special. The first time I did I wondered what it was - surely not the fragrance, it's not what it smells like! By the third time I knew it was this baby. It just smells like magic. Sweet fruity elusive magic you want more of - hypnosis-like for sure.
This is what I wanted Prada Candy Night to smell like. But I don't perceive it as a dark or night only scent. No siree. Maybe darkwave but definitely not goth at all. It's soft and velvety like the feel of a velvet Rouge Dior lipstick (I wonder if the egg came before the chicken?) Signature worthy and could easily be worn any time any day any place.

Salty, bitter, overwhelming, harsh, vulgar? Oh no, all good. Closer to the base it reminds me of Burberry Women, there's some note that's very similar (musk?), kind of bitter-ish woody but it's not as harsh in Hypnotic Poison.
I feel as if it doesn't have enough parfum. If anything, it might even be underwhelming. Many people said reformulations didn't ruin performance terribly, many said they did. I was prepared for the worst - Crystal Noir, Baccarat, Jungle L'Elephant intensity - only to find out now that it is not here and I do crave it. I *want* it to smell stronger and wear me instead of being worn by me! When I apply perfume the room smells of it for one to three hours. Hypnotic Poison is gone after what, half an hour? It is quite long lasting on skin but I feel like it becomes a skin scent way too soon. Additionally I don't get many middle notes, maybe it's *that* well blended, but I feel like it goes from top notes straight to base notes. Although I can't really comment much on that with a newly purchased bottle; this is how it performs as of now. I will let my companion rest and see if it gets any better.

J'adore Dior indeed!

Luckycharm

I had this perfume for 2 years. Initially, it wasnt real love for me - I just wore it because I felt like I had to. So I would put it on usually for evening events, like going out with my husband. But recently, I sprayed it again and it clicked. Something charming and sexy yet get elegant was there sitting on me and I enjoyed it so much! It def starts as a poison - the smell of sour (plum?), mixed with coconut (yet very mild) and lots of almond. In 20 minutes that mix wears off and transitions into a smooth, powdery, silky creamy almond! Yes, there’s lots of almond, but it’s high quality one, I tell myself I smell like an almond cookie while drinking some bourbon. To me, this is def not a “vamp” smell, it’s rather very elegant, sexy, feminine, and cozy. Cozy is the right word because you still remain being sexy Wearing this, as if wrapped up in a warm blanket! Great perfume, I am just now looking forward to colder weather to feel it more on me. Longevity is also a +++, in the end you just smell the small traces of what used to be almond and it feels very intimate.

JudeC

I cannot understand how this can even be compared with the original 1998 Annick Menardo version which was sublime, it smells very different and the longevity, after so many reformulations is appalling considering the price Dior have the audacity to charge….Why they did this I will never know. So many compliments years ago when wearing the EDT, projection and silage amazing, the fragrance itself so sensual, intoxicating and addictive…Shame on you Dior, would never purchase this now.

luanneog

Soft and delicate. Creamy and warm. Almost smells like spf. It's coconutty and powdery. The sweetness is a bit cloying. Kind of play-doh like.

Jessiebaby

A beautifully blended fragrance that’s comforting and alluring. Smells delicious and creamy without being sickly sweet or cloying. Husband loves this one.

Lauren387

I own two vintage bottles of this—one original formula made 2001 and one first reformulation made 2008. I don’t want to be redundant in my explanation. These obviously share similar DNA though the OG/2001 has more caraway and rose in the foreground. The caraway is reminiscent of licorice. Drydown is rounder, cooler and slightly aloof. Sexy, dark, and rich. 2008 is more fruity and almondy. I get some warm spices. Almost gourmand-like, marzipan maybe? Sexy and edible.

suzanne_ronald

ALMOND PASTE & PASTRY - A flaky pastry base topped with a sweet homemade almond paste, almond icing, slivered almonds and powdered almond sugar. Opens with a burst of coconut accented by faint hints of plum & apricot, and already you can feel the almond-vanilla base swelling through. That deepens into the heart where white-floral touches are added - a slight creaminess from tuberose, and a near-grape leaning jasmine helps to continue the faint plum, accented by nose-tickling caraway. Caraway here with the help of jasmine leans to anise giving a faint licorice-y note. That all rests on a vanilla-almond base that was there all along, rounded out by creamy sandalwood and fluffy musk. Overall I get an almond-paste & pastry scent, with the other notes serving to enhance different facets of the almond pastry. There is definitely a "paste" texture here, and that may contribute to the play-doh note that some get. If I look for it, I can get a play-doh note, but it's pleasant and much sweeter than real play-doh imho.

I've loved this scent since it was released in 1998, and it's inspired many dupes, clones and similar scents. Scents in my collection that dry down with this DNA include Olympea Solar Paco Rabanne & My Burberry Black Elixir (although the openings are all different). Has fantastic performance, and although the performance isn't as nuclear as it once was, for me it's still a one-spray-wonder. It's pretty sweet so I'm more likely to wear this in winter, and the best memories I have from wearing this are in icy January. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

ash3lin

this might be random but this smells realllly good on guys. like objectively i understand it’s pretty feminine but it stands out more on a guy, its very attractive lol that’s why i bought it..
