Opening kind of smells like a locker room at a spa or swimming pool, but evolves into a smooth and pleasant, if a bit generic sporty outdoorsy smell. Not bad but wouldn't be my first choice.

Cesteiro

CraigB

Not exactly oldschool barbershop, but not exactly modern either. Really fresh stuff that smells just as good 4 years from when I picked it up from a friend who said it reminded him of his ex girl. His loss, my gain I suppose! Better than Acqua di Gio by miles.

Curtis Gabriel

I found a vintage first generation bottle of this on Ebay unopened with the cellophane wrapper still on. Smells like stepping back in time, in the best way. This is an absolute classic, it's a timeless easy wear. Moderate sillage and longevity. I still enjoy it as much today as I did when I was a kid.

Old_SnakeTwitch

Seems Im not the only one with a 90's bottle still over half full..
We are the super sour apple Hugo club

Billsdadoc

Great fragrance. Too bad it doesn’t last long. Good for dry summer condition.

TrashBoat0

I have a bottle from maybe 14 years ago. Still performs, and smells great. A fantastic classic. I'm saving the last 1/8th of the bottle.

Alex771

Is this fragrance still available or is it discontinued?
I mean the original Hugo by Hugo boss, i do not mean the 2021 Hugo Boss MAN
thank you!

jinjayagi

It appears many men have had this bottle as their first designer perfume in the past. Now it is more nostalgic to older men. I, as a young man see in this scent that it's the best at creating memories with your brothers, wherever you are. It is sweet, but not seductive. It feels masculine like a deodorant, but also is a luxury style brand. I am grateful to have this in my collection as a gift from family from when I was a little bit younger, and will use this scent when I spend time with my friends to lighten the mood during the day.

Marssade

Say what you want.Easy one of the best ever scents. So many memories...imbossible not to like..

Victor Marin

This was my first designer perfume so it will be always very special for me. I have get a lot of compliments with this fragrance and it will be forever in my collection. Sometimes the beauty lies in the most simple.

ourevilonus

For me this is one of the best Boss Fragrances (I need to check out though Bottled Intense EDP "discontinued" and the Elixir) Spring, Summer, early Fall fragrance and office fragrance.

RonSmith

Is this fragrance still available or is it discontinued?
I mean the original Hugo by Hugo boss, i do not mean the 2021 Hugo Boss MAN release.

Thank you

Jordysmellsgud

It smells like Versace Dylan blue but more green. Not too fond of it, has some note that gives me a headache, and it smells too powdery/synthetic and spicy.

ashroloie

Need to eventually buy another one of the newer boss flankers. My brother had this and from what I can recall in my mind it was very uplifting and pleasant. It was stronger too. Definitely a scent that helped draw me into wanting to have my own collection.

Don't care if Hugo boss scents have average performance. They smell nice and if you can get them outside retail for decent cheap prices you are onto a winner.

IA2023

Edit: The original doesn't seems to exist anymore.
The current "Hugo" (man), is awful.
But there's another page to review it.

FragranceAnon

Modern, energetic, optimistic and versatile.

A tart apple with spices and evergreen woods, it's masculine but not overbearingly so.

You ask it a question, and it just smiles back at you sincerely and reassuringly, more of an eye-smile than mouth.

A good choice for warm weather, sunny days.

JamesPawn

the older bottles smell better then the new stuff. sprayed some on my shirt and its really beautiful you can really smell the apples . its been around since the late 90's i remember it along with tommy and polo sport

Bedesten15

Hugo! This scent is like a time machine, it takes me back to my younger, tougher days. It's like a walk in the woods, but without the sweating and mosquito bites. Bergamot and grapefruit are like a burst of sunshine, while lavender and mint add a sweetness that melts my heart. When it calms down, geranium and clove make me feel masculine and sophisticated. Like I'm wearing a suit made of trees! But seriously, this scent is perfect for any occasion - whether I'm chopping wood or trying to impress my lover. It's a classic that never goes out of style. The only downside? It doesn't last long. It could be better. But no fragrance is perfect, right?

benkim

Received this as a gift back in 2008 or something. My bottle probably had turned bad (it's got that turned hedione). Aside from that, Lavender and Green/Minty are predominant notes. Somehow I detect pepper (which I detected in 2008) which is not found in the note breakdown.
I wouldn't wear it, but i know my brother used my bottle sometimes.

Grig02

I instantly liked this smell and bought a box with edt and deodorant to gift to my dad. He loved it. I must mention that for me it is not so strong and in my case it didn't stay for long, otherwise it is a cheap and great smelling fragrance.

Crisp&Clean

This was my first designer fragrance.. love this scent, brings back lots of good memories..

Detman101

Loved this back in the day. Need to pick up a bottle for my son to try.

Jessk

My hubby has about 10 fragrances & this is my favorite. Laughed out loud when I found out it was a “vintage” oldie with a million flankers, that most recall their dads wearing. If you didn’t know this was an oldie, you wouldn’t guess that it was. Though my husband is an old soul so maybe that’s why it fits him so well.

It’s fresh, clean, and manly. It’s not thick & not sweet, just a really nice “man” scent without trying to conquer the room or be obnoxious. To me, while nice & invigorating for sure, it’s also comforting and approachable. Like a cool guy that you can actually be yourself around. I love it.

Anasparfums

It's a classic , so fresh with a touch of green apple, one of my favorites summer fragrance

HaraJ

I was in high school when this dropped. This was used and abused by a lot of the fellas in those days. Over-sprayed was usually the M.O. This frag was a beast in those days as well. Not every guy had it, because Tommy, Polo Sport, and of course Aqua Di Gio were all very trendy at the time. This one was unique and held its own. I think more guys admired this fragrance on themselves and wore it because it made them feel good and confident and fresh. It’s still very unique and could easily be worn by all ages in all seasons for all occasions. Synthetic, sure but not bad.

samudex

Not a bad smell. Better than Dior sauvage for sure. I kind of liked it.

Camazing

As with many reviewers this one is an old time favorite and one of the first fragrance purchases I made as a young man. I still enjoy the scent but typically use it more for work/office settings as it is pleasant and non offensive.

thecologneconnoisseur

I didn't like this one in all honesty. I ended up giving it to my dad and he seemed to like it.

Glennard

This was my go-to for all occasions, year round, many years before I started actually taking an interest in the world of fragrances. I feel it's still a fantastic one for the summertime, but perhaps not all the time. It also feels a little youthful for me now but I'll still finish my current bottle. Might not buy again simply because I personally feel as though I've outgrown it. That being said, it's probably going to be the first fragrance I buy for my son when he's older if they still make it. It performs very well and is a crowd pleaser. Would definitely recommend, especially for younger guys starting out.

twiztidladii

My very first boyfriend wore this back in the 90s. This scent definitely brings back memories for me and I love frags that hold memories. I’ve been trying to get my son into the Hugo Boss line because I feel it’s a great youthful and affordable house. He owns a few of them. I’ll always like this one best though.

TetraMike

A 90s classic. To me this doesnt smell dated at all and is a very versatile fragrance that can be worn year round for a lot of different occasions.

dvorka38

One of the best summer scents to me. I mean the scent itself, the performance and sillage is very poor . The price is pretty low for 200 ml bottle though, so no problem to respray it during a day.

RLB1979

It's a classic, like countless other mid 90's fragrances it had that Apple/ Lavender / Mint combo that defined that era for men's fragrances, matter of fact this came out when I was in high school so I remember it well, I think it is very much in the Calvin Klein Eternity vibe without smelling exactly like CK's Eternity, Would this still work today? I think so, it has that beauty of not smelling like the hundreds of blue fragrances that are every where now but to me regardless of how old a fragrance is wear it if you like it

Afc_Croatian

This is a classic. My dad wears this all the time so maybe there is a bit of bias to my review.
I love the green apple and mint in this one. It blends together for a fresh shower gel vibe, makes you feel like you just finished showering. My dad loves to wear this with a suit and he always looks so happy and well-put together and proud.
I'm glad Hugo Boss created a fragrance like this that is easy to wear :)

terribleterrier

This is the second cologne I owned as a teenager. I love it as much now as I did then. This has been a summer staple for me for over 20 years and to this day still get compliments. My collection is over 60 fragrances now, but this one is still the one I consistently reach for on those hot summer days. It's such a wonderful meeting of the sweet apple and more bitter aromatics that simultaneously make it feel modern, masculine, and sexy. Also, unlike many summertime fragrances, longevity is great. 8+ hours off skin. A+ and a classic.

DariaFrancesca74

An aromatic breath that evokes very fresh and relaxing summer atmospheres. A blend rich in aromatic, boises, citrus and floral notes that refers to the wonderful and luxuriant Mediterranean scrub. Energizing fragrance.

OzTheFragranceLover

As a new teenager getting into fragrances, if you're looking for a strong, masculine, long lasting, almost bitter fragrance? By a great reputable brand... This is for you. By bitter, obviously not bitter, but the scent profile contains quite harsh tones, especially in the opening, however that can literally be perfect for a strong, masculine scent, meaning it obviously isn't as light as your expected summer fragrance or gourmand whatsoever, but it has the assertiveness and obvious presence going perfect with a confident man. However, I don't think this would be ideal for more relaxed scenarios, like lounging around at home but realistically it's pretty much versatile enough to get away with anywhere else as long as you don't choke anyone out with it.

Smells great as a strong masculine sharp fragrance.
Versatile.
Affordable.
7.5/10 personally, but for older men I think this could be perfect, and so cheap possibly not worth ordering samples? But very bold so may not suit you. Again bitter: strong message, may like it or hate it but definitely strong and confident.

Jonathanelsher3

Hugo Hugo Boss is exactly how a man should smell. This will forever be a classic. It's perfect in every sense. My father used to wear it and it always reminds me of him

Yessamin

Hugo or Hugo man is a mix crisp of apples, herbal aromas and wild forest scents. Feel the freshness and boost your confidence.
EdT

obsidianknighthawk

My brother likes this. I get a slight petrol note. And plenty of apple.

Johnypogo

One of my first fragrances I bought and still one of my favorites. Has that citrus that makes it great for spring/summer and that piney smell that I enjoy in the cooler months. I get only 4-6 hours max out of it but I always enjoy it while it lasts.

stevestyle

So this is a story how I came to find one of the best men's perfume on the face of the planet. I was walking through the shopping centre and I caught the wiff of something that smells absolutely masculine and divine. This is what a man should smell like. I went up to the man who is wearing this Masterpiece and asked him what he was wearing and I literally went down and bought a bottle blindly off-the-shelf that day . How can I have Missed this absolute gem. It's very masculine without having that old man Vibe about it you can wear it on any occasion anytime of the year and it just smells absolutely fantastic. Signature scent worthy and it's now my new signature scent

Astrid89

Huh...
At first that mix of green apples, lavender and mint (maybe hint of fir as well) makes me nauseous. It smells like a mojito with apple vinegar. Later on you can smell more fir and cedar so it's much nicer but still... My problem with this scent is mint! I can't stand mint. I think it's great when we talk about toothpaste but not male scent. It's so strong that it's not fresh any more but annoying.
On the other side longevity is great, sillage is great...
If you don't mind annoying amount of mint it's worth your money. But if you ask me...Hugo Boss have a lot of better options 🙈

Cdub5_

Just like the person below me, this was my signature scent in high school in the early 2000s. The most, by far, compliments I've ever received on anything. Granted, at that time I'm around a lot more people being classmates or going to parties or whatever.

I did actually pick up a new bottle two Christmas's ago and I could tell it was different, but not for the worse. It actually smelled really good, especially the sillage. If you can ever find yourself a vintage bottle of this, do yourself a favor a pick it up. But if all you can find is the current juice, that is perfectly ok, if not better, than the original.

NotAnEqualizer

I've been rocking this stuff since the mid-2000s, and it's gotten me more compliments than anything $100+. It's very casual and sporty. It's safe for the office, and it is a beast for the gym. This is a super dumb reach for any man at any age, and it's wide open for youth (teens and up). The green apple, lavender, and pine scents are what stick out most for me. Great value for a full bottle.

EauDeToilet

My old signature in the '90s. Fresh, sporty, and sweetish. Not the same scent but it reminds me of Invictus for some reason but with a ghost of MDMA, EU, and highschool fatigue.

The obvious wearer of this would be a late teen/twentysomething guy who doesn't give a crap about being cutting edge. Perhaps his dad used Hugo. A fond childhood memory.

tl;dr – 8/10 inherited He-Man action figures

tecfield

This is one of my all time favorites. It has a crisp smell which lasts for hours and hours. Longevity is super awesome for the price point. I can sniff if off of myself after 10 hours or more. Silage is what it lacks but not sure how it could have more with its smell profile. The extreme version is not quite the same but it has better silage but maybe just a bit more. This is one of those fragrances that I wear it just for myself and enjoy it for hours reminding me good memories.

Basman

Nice fragrance. Easy to wear and you don't have to think about it.
I'm not much about the acquatic's so this is what i wear instead.

TonySpilotro

Smells kinda similar to Calvin Klein escape IMO.

Prince of The Possibility

Only thing this fragrance needs is the touch of vanilla to balance basil notes.

abahvdbs

SHARP GREEN PINEY SPICY SOAPY (modern foguere aromatic)

strong, sharp, green, dense, mildly spicy fresh soapy clean; in the genre/vein of frags such as Polo Sport, Hugo Dark Blue, etc; for casual, in or outdoor settings, versatile can be worn all year round hot or cold.

Projection/Sillage' is GOOD, nice scent bubble within 5 ft for 1-2 hours, then 1-2 ft.

Performance/Longevity is DECENT, on fabric last about 5-6 hours

Dustin1250

I had this like 15 years ago. My friend got a bottle and didnt like it so I traded him about 1ounce of luna rosa by Prada that I had for it. I almost forgot how much I love this fragrance. I love the Prada too. The crisp apple in the opening stays for most of its life. The cedar is an awesome base that gives the dry down unique life. By the way the guy I got it from is the only person I heard say he doesn't like it. Hes the same with food too. It's a pretty safe scent. And has solid performance.
Scent 8.5/10
Longevity 6/10
Sillage 6/10
Price 8/10
Great for summer and can be used in cooler months.

it just ok smell like you jump out of the shower but beware smell too sharp.

hugo by hugo boss: maybe it isnt relevant as it used to be, but this fragrance has a special place in the man's parfumery. it was released for the young crowd of the 90's, very dynamic, joyful and appealing. a great blend of green apple, lavender, sage, mint with a touch of sugar. yes it is synthetic, but it's so fresh, invigorating and the dna of the blend was copied many times. the niche snobs of nowadays underrate this edt, but i dont care about them: hugo is still pleasing, well performing and solid. it was still very popular in my glory days at university in the early 2000 and i still love this edt. if u want to be in the right mood to wear this scent just watch an episode of Friends, then play "disco 2000" by Pulp on the stereo and spray hugo. welcome in the mighty 90's!

alternative- tommy by tommy hilfinger(not the same fragrance, but the same young 90's vibe)

ps- the review is based on a bottle with the old "red box" logo, the word "hugo" inside like the picture above. dont know how is the new bottle with the big "H U G O" on the front.

Do not trust anyone judging perfumes by the notes given on Fragrantica. This does not smell at all like Eternity or Nautica, regardless what the notes table shows up here. It does smell much better than those, but this can vary since we all have different noses and taste. The performance is much better than those other two in their latest reformulation and this cannot be left to opinions, it's just a fact. I read it was everywhere in the 90's but I don't recall it at all and it was a new fragrance for me when I tested it, and bought after a few days, last month. It does not feel like an old fragrance and I suggest anyone to give it a try.

algekalipso

This is a beautiful scent. It shares the same aromatic notes as Eternity by CK (EDT not EDP). It shares the same green apple and oceanic notes as Nautica Voyage. And it shares the same almost condom-like "bergamot + mint + lavender" accord as Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger. It's kind of a middle point of all three (though not an average or blend!), in the sense that I could see it being reconstructed up to 90% with the elements from the other perfumes I just described.

This is an unapologetically aromatic fragrance: if you are not a fan of sage, basil, and coriander (not in the list of notes, but I can sense it) then you will decidedly not like it. If you don't like "sour" fragrances, this is not for you. But if you are ok with having a powerful sour aromatic projection and persona, this is for you. I personally dig it a lot.

Baldrick cunning plan

A nice fresh old school fragrance thats similar ball park to CK Eternity and still works today as a everyday scent and is now great value.

raerrr

This is my husband's signature scent. Hugo is crisp and woody. A great mood booster and head clearer. Minty apple burst that settles into geranium cedar. My husband says the cedar is the most prominent, which is one of his favorite notes. He never strays from this scent! Definitely a staple juice.

caifan

Hugo by Hugo Boss is a fragrance with a pleasant and fresh scent, although it has a very harsh and synthetic output. The perceived notes are green apple, mint, lavender and basil, with a woody background. It was a very common scent in Mexico in the 90s.
There is a fragrance called Blackmoon by Luz de Luna that is identical and much more affordable in price.

sergiuniculescu

The Extreme version is way better. Same smell as the original, a little bit polished and the performance is super good! Like you put 3 bottles of the original in one bottle of the extreme version. Check it out! 👍

Guitar 2016

It's a great fragrance, Airy, Fresh , Crisp and Clean. It opens up with like fresh bitter citrusy , green notes and apple in the background then dry down is green woody. It smells so good and very pleasant. You can't go wrong with it. This perfume reminds me of Dior Higher EDT. It is perfect for the spring and summer. I really enjoy it and I love Hugo Hugo Boss for Men EDT. Longevity is good. Highly Recommended.
Two Thumbs Up.

I have changed my mind about this one. At first I wasn't impressed at all but after a couple of times it grew on me. The smell is really good but after a couple of hours I have to reapply! Therefore, on a personal note I can only give this a 6.7 out of 10. Who knows, that might go up the more familiar I come with this cologne!?

Miralem

One of the first fragrances I bought (retail) in the very early 00’s.
Very nice, clean and green scent. People around me like it so it’s still a gerat fragrance to have in your collection.

DookieShoes

Such a classic. It’s very crisp, fresh and casual. One of my favorite dumb reach frags when I’m just leaving the house for a little while or going outdoors with nobody to impress. You won’t offend anyone with this and you can go heavy on the atomizer and get good performance out of it. I get 8-10 hours of longevity with 2-3 hours of projection, so it’s no slouch either. 125ml on FragranceNet with a discount code will run you $30. Absolutely worth the blind buy!

julianernesto

This sent is totally 1990's. I sometimes wore HUGO Hugo Boss after wrestling or swim practice and, sometimes I wore it to go out with friend to the movies. Not my most favorite but, I wear it on occasion when I feel nostalgic or when I don't want to wear my expensive fragrances. I hate to admit it but, I still have my second bottle from 10 years ago. I'm not sure if it's gone bad or not I'm sure it's fine.🤷♂️ I did a spray recently and, the smell wasn't rancid or gross it smelled exactly the same as I sprayed HUGO at Dillard's department store many years ago. I keep all my fragrances in a cool, dark, and dry places stored away sun light. Hugo Boss need's to come out with a eau de parfum version of this fragrances the same way Calvin Klein/Coty Cosmetics did with the men's fragrance ETERNITY for men.👃

Bellissimo81

I absolutely love the smell of this perfume. This is my husband's signature scent, and every time he wears it, i fall madly in love 🥰 with him all over again ☺️
The first note(s) i smell, are the Lavender and grapefruit which comes through very strong

dennisisahypocrite

I love this one! Fresh, spicy and sexy. I would certainly enjoy it if I smell it on men, it's quite different from the generic shower gel scent that many perfumes fall prey to.

dptwigs

A fun, fresh, fruity fragrance for day-to-day wear. Reminds me so much of the 90s/early 2000s, will always be special to me.

quangntl

fruity vibe to me . base note is very nive , similar to the top note . it reminds me to my childhood

yourthemanowdog

this has been made by at least 2 different brands maybe 3 . very peppery and nice at least in the vintage bottles i own

The Wolf

My bottle (3rd) from the 90's projects beastly although sadly it's almost empty. I also get a fruity cherry vibe which I don't see in the note breakdown. Anyway as others have said this is a gem and my favorite from the house.

Old formula was beast one spray, 2 tops.

aet

very much a product of it's era. A nineties scent that smells like a mix of Tommy and CK's Eternity. However, it can be worn nowadays without smelling dated. it does open a little harsh, but it quickly mellows to a pleasant fresh scent. Very much a day scent and, as mentioned by Chesco, perfect for a white t-shirt and jeans. longevity good. sillage medium.

Quasar

it is nice COMFORTING fragrance.

I can feel COOL PINY FRESHNESS with a hint of apple

I prefer to wear it during winter

Not pretentious just lovley and effortless

NykTri

Too old school for me. Find it bit harsh on my nose.

@Himanshu18

BATCH 9050 / YEAR 2019 (REFORMULATED)
Fragrance is nice, inoffensive, fresh & clean, i am from India 🇮🇳 , here in India 🇮🇳 LONGETIVITY is poor, Perfume projects for 1st 20-30mints than sits close to skin and after 2 hours it vanished no smell at all. Will never buy again

Kronstadt

I have always owned a bottle since 1996. Will always want one on hand and really enjoy it for work. A real heavy lifter for daily wear. Nothing special, just the workhorse of my scents.

Chesco

The 1st frag i ever bought, STRONG performance back in 1996! One spray was enough! Someone stole my first 2 bottles of cologne and my watch while growing up. I use to wear this in middle school because my cousin in college dating hot girls use to wear it and i not only wanted that lifestyle but also it smelt sooo good to me. When i bought the bottle for myself back then, i immediately felt like i smelt of young money, youth sexiness, fashionable and bold!

I really loved it for the mid 90's. Bright, clean, strong, linear - the opening smelled like the dry-off as far as i could remember. It's solid and true to itself.

Kinda curious what it smells like after 25 years, might by a bottle for my keepsakes.

*Update: Fucking INCREDIBLE! <3

Wow, i had good taste in middle school!..lol
Smells very close to the original formula, still performs, just fill-the-room beast it use to be. Im fairly certain majority of the original formula is here tho. Now that my nose is more educated, id bet money that this was Hugo Boss' answer to Chanel's masterpiece 'Egoist'. Both same power suit spicy-apple-piney scent genre, without it smelling like a pine tree.

It was a strong scent, but in a good way, and i loved it! I would sometimes get out of the shower in the morning, dress in my expensive clothes cause i was the only person in my school that not only had 1 job, i had 2, and id spend a good chunk of my weekend playing the newly released Playstation 1, the next-gen games blew my mind then, being able to finally eat whatever food i wanted to buy and wearing all these sexy clothes paired with this frag and dating the hottest girls that i could find in the city is the nostalgia this frag gives me when i smell it.

This not only smells fabulous, but it's an insane deal! Cost me like $300 in today's purchasing power of the dollar back in 1996, today you can get it for like $15 in today's dollars! What a score! What a forgotten masterpiece. What a hidden gem!
100% rocking this frag this summer in white t-shirt & jeans!
Im glad nobody talks about it today, now it's all mine! :P
Like Egoist, it still smells good, so it doesn't smell dated to me. But it's strong, so i wear it maybe once every 2 weeks so i don't get tired of it. Also has a kick-ass scent bubble. Lasts on my clothes for a half a week!
You know how people fight to get the 90's Jordans 11's-14's to wear to show off in public?
Well to me, this is like wearing late 90's Jordan's for frags! <3

4/5 Woofs!

Smell Ya Later

I went through about three bottles of this when I was younger. It's a really classic scent that reminds me a bit of a toned-down Invictus. Overall, it is very pleasant and a bit bubblegum, but also a very synthetic scent. Not sure I'd buy it again due to it being sort-of linked to an age and time period I wore it.

Grensfall

I bought this back in 1998. This fragrance encapsulates the best summer I had as a teenager. I could write a whole thesis about this fragrance and what it has meant to me growing up, but this is not the place for that.

Apple is a recurrent note in many Boss fragrances and is dominant in this one, especially in the opening. The scent is also somewhat fruity with a woody background combined with an overall green vibe. It's not a very natural smelling fragrance but it's not harsh in any way to my nose. It's very fresh and invigorating.

This is a spring/summer fragrance for daytime and casual wear but it's versatile enough to be suited for work as well, depending on what you do. Performance on my skin is very good, 8+ hours easily with good projection within the first 2-3 hours.

I still have my old vintage bottle with some juice left in it as well as a new 200ml bottle I bought a few years back. This fragrance has survived the reformulations quiet well even though I believe there are some slight differences between them, primarily in the opening. I will always keep this fragrance in my collection as it brings back so many good memories from years back.

smellitonme

Old school cool... a timeless classic! I'm on my backup bottle that I was gifted back in the late OO's. I love reminiscing about when I used to wear Hugo Boss, it felt like such a different world back then. Clean, masculine, complimented, what's there not to like? I find it best for Spring and Fall months but you could really pull it off in any season. It will forever be in my collection, and rotation.

Serbo_Canadian

Newbie here but I like this scent and I have received compliments on it from lots of different girls

Nice clean masculine scent, great bang for your buck!

My first cologne so I might be bias but I really love the way Hugo smells!

Austrian_in_Denmark

Around the time when Hugo came on the market, I spent one year in Spain. I was crazy about this perfume, but knew no-one who used it. (On my own skin it must have smelled bad, because I never considered buying it.)

So I would periodically walk into one of the big El Corte Inglés department stores and sniff at a bottle of Hugo.
To me the strongest note was cinnamon, and I am surprised it is not listed among the notes. Maybe the lavender, the wood and the apple somehow teamed up into pretending to be cinnamon. Hugo was both warm and fresh to me.

I have not smelled this scent in a long time, and I must remember to take a sniff, next time I get the opportunity. Let's see how I like it now, and then, if I do, how my partner likes it :-).

Cirilo

Very seasonal parfum - spring/summer ONLY! Works good when you at half empty office in the mid of July, or local grocery shopping. I also wear it on my doctor appointments to blend in with smell of drugs and medications so it's not too screaming in such delicate place.

TrephineArtist

The oldest, longest surviving bottle in my collection. I never liked this one enough to finish the bottle yet like a bald man with a comb I could never part with it.

I used to find this one a little harsh (and slightly bitter) compared with my old favourites such as Tommy Hilfiger cologne, D&G Pour Homme and Polo Sport, while those were emptied years ago this one is hanging in there, a remnant of the past but with an inviting, timeless, yet arguably more mature scent.

Green spicy freshness, this seems overlooked these days yet it's well worth revisiting now and again, there's something special about it (or perhaps I'm getting a tad nostalgic in my old age haha!).

saqlainr12

Beautifully smells like green-apple, Refreshing and energizing for Summer Mornings. Longevity in office is around 6+ hours.

hellogoddag

Very green, masculine piny scent.
A little boozy as well.
I have known this scent since forever, so it has always seemed like a classical male scent to me

dvdira

I've worn this many times since I bought my first full bottle (my 7 yr old daughter seems to like it), but I can't quite seem to put my finger on whether or not I love this fragrance. Sometimes I thoroughly enjoy smelling it on my wrist, other times I want to wash it off and put something else on. At least one time, I got a slight headache from it.

Its pleasant enough, but sometimes I get a whiff of something I don't like at all. I get the green apple and mint, but I've never sensed any basil and lavender (which is fine, since I really like the smell of apples). There's something here I don't like but I don't smell it all the time (I guess).

This one does stick to me long enough though, and it does project well. So.... its okay, I guess. But I don't think I'm going to finish this bottle, much less replenish it when it runs out. Gonna keep what's left in the bottle on display (only because it looks nice).

Scent: 2.5/5
Longevity: 4/5
Sillage: 4/5

Blackacid

My wife used to love it. Great classic.

ScentManJojo

This is an amazing scent still to this day IMO. I have had a bottle of this in my collection since it came out in 1995. I believe this was the Hugo house attempt at Creeds GIT. GIT is more of a gentleman's scent. Boss was going for the 20 and 30 year old crowd with this juice. Some of my friends call it a "frat boy" fragrance. I find that to be an insult. The note tree for this is extensive but to my nose it is well constructed and a pleasure to wear. I find it a great spring / summer scent and doesn't disappoint with longevity on my skin. A solid 8 hours on me. After 20 years still puts a smile on my face when I wear it. Enjoy!

smellyoul8ter

If you are just starting out as a collector, I can think of fewer classic fragrances to better begin your collection. If you’re younger, this is a classic 90s smell that evokes fond memories for the over 30 crowd. It is an inoffensive creamy herbal scent not unlike a classic shaving cream smell. I personally think of it as a barbershop scent but I may receive backlash for that... Anyways, if it isn’t obvious, this is a love for me. Do I wear this every day? Absolutely not! Do I wear this semi-often and love every minute of it? You’re darn right! Projection and siliage is quite good. Price is reasonable- borderline cheapie. You gotta own this!

Coffee King

One of the first fragrances I remember owning, and it's just as I remember, very easy to wear, aromatic and very green, it's fresh, clean and totally inoffensive. You could argue it's not unique, but it has stood the test of time. A great starter fragrance.

Migalex

This really is green, aromatic indeed and dry. There is nothing sweet about it. Personally I do not find it pleasant. I would never wear it.

divenegg

I used to love it 20 years ago then i started to try more and more fragances and my nose can't stand Hugo anymore, too synthetic.

Criglett Clussnum

I love this stuff! It's very fresh and clean smelling and it has a nice little spice to it. This is a classic 90's scent. One of the best from that time. This is very recognizable and very mass appealing but in good ways. I put this in the class with Acqua Di Gio and Tommy, also from the same era. One of the best Boss fragrances along with Boss bottled. I think this is a must have and it's great for work and casual situations but really you can wear this anywhere and smell good. I give this a 9.5/10

Bfreepro417

eh, it's okay. Very, very, VERY synthetic, and there are notes in there that really ruin it for me, a bit of pine, maybe? But it smells SO damn chemical-like and cheap. It just kind of embodies everything I dislike about certain colognes as far as the synthetic, chemical smell. Not the absolute worst but rubs me the wrong way. I can see why others would like it, like there are some scents from the 90s that I get the same chemical drydown, but I still can like the scent due to nostalgia. However I feel while those other scents have really nice openings followed by a chemical drydown, this one is instant chemical synthetic mess. The fresh-spicy qualities, to me, aren't done very well, just too cheap/synthetic smelling and insanely generic and sloppy, like a shower gel or body spray quality. It’s also incredibly dated, coming from someone who never tried this until 2019, so again, it’s probably brings nostalgia for some, but too me, it’s kind of terrible.

2/10

katgirl76

I just put on my hubby's Hugo Hugo Boss and I find it quite refreshing and summery....and I like it as much on me as I do on him. Not the normal scent compilation that I usually go for, as I like heavy, rich orients and smokey fragrances. And no, it's not an expensive niche brand that will break the bank nor is it terribly complex. It is not unusual or unique, but it IS popular cuz it DOES smell good. It just smells fresh, clean and flirty. I really like the woody fry down. Great price for a great scent.

mauryji

energizing waterfall , trekking companion , it does not look 24 , not to me , at least.

MrBolton

I think this smells kinda spicy, but clean spicy, and the apple in it is pretty unique and prominent. I loved it when I first got it in college. It's stupidly cheap for its quality. It's not the world's best scent, but to get a 4.2 oz bottle for $30, it's a no-brainer, especially if you don't have a large budget.

The bottle design is neat, too. I like the cap staying attached; while utilitarian, it adds a level of chic to it.

6.5/10 scent (10/10 for the money), 9/10 performance (sillage and longevity)

luisrosales64

Super synthetic, I would recommend this to someone who wants a gym scent, it is not groundbreaking, but it is not a complete fail. 7/10

Yorkshire Rose

A very synthetic scent, but not unpleasant. Slightly dry and bitter apple is sweetened with a strong lavender base, and freshened with mint. Somewhere in the mix there are slight floral and woody undercurrents on a musky base.

Not very long lasting, but okay while it lasts.

Tonka Truck Bean

I get a synthetic passionfruit note.. does anyone else?

Had this some 15 years ago and have been craving it back lately. I may have to buy another.

One of the best bottle designs ever!

Oldspice

I tried Hugo when it first came out and gifted the bottle away to a friend. I decided to give it another shot recently, still a pass for me. Not horrible but just smells like cheapo "sport" scented deodorant/body wash/body spray.

Samiology

Used to wear this perfume during 1998 and i was in love. Pure freshness in a bottle. Saw it a couple of weeks and was about to purchase but changed my mind .

Highly recommended, perfect summer scent, pure freshness.

gOOsebeRRy

being my favourite since 2002. reformulated and it doesnt smell like past years back. however still this is my fragrance for a busy day ahead.

wisconsinboy

Another example of happiness in a bottle. Yes, it is rather synthetic, but I don't mind. It was common at some point in time, even in the hick-country of Wisconsin, because when I bought this I thought "I've smelled this before".

Invocati

Blindbuy for me, since it was a special price (50% off) in an authorized shop I trust 100%.

Packanging:

Came in a very nice robust, black box with "Hugo boss" in red (with deo, present pack) Very high quality. The Bottle itself is made to look like an army drink bottle (from what i've read). Very nice design in my opinion. Thick glass and also very sturdy. Looks clean.

The juice:

A very recognizable scent to me. I've smelled it before. Probably because it's a popular scent, or because an old friend had it. Can't remember. Very "clean out of the shower scent", soapy. Smells really good, but more on the light soapy side opposite to very musky or spicy. Uncomplex. Floral with a base woodyness when it sets a bit.

Conclusion:

I like it. Really nice, "oldschool" aftershave type of scent in my opinion. Probably fits for most men.
It's not my all time favorite, I haven't found that bottle yet. But for now I think it's in my top 10 at least.

justfloral

Good. There is the same note of adhesive tape (vinyl, cedar) as in Eternity for Men mixed with green apples, and trace off geranium and dry wood.

jiboom

I open the bottle every once in a while and give this scent another chance, but no... This stuff is so grose to me that it makes me cringe every time i sniff it. I can't imagine having to smell like that all day, no thanx.

Sniff away

The apple, mint and grapefruit opening are great on this fragrance very uplifting it has a great herbal dry down aswell. It's much better than Hugo just different which has a very harse opening and is suppose to be the modern version of this. The projection and longevity are good as well I've not tried this fragrance for around 15 year's I used to use some of my brother's as I never actually owned a bottle myself but I can clearly remember how refreshing this scent was it's not very expensive either and can be worn on any occasion.

fhr

Exactly what Zyleric said!
More than 20 ago years traveling to Gothenburg to summer course on a big ship and after purchasing in duty free, with my nice Swedish travel mate, and using there and going back to my university and then in my beautiful city of Budapest, coming from the 'West" this Hugo and that Polo what was vibrating and came from the same, trip were the favorites. My favorites and the girls favorites to around me. To be honest might not he best ever fragrance of my entire collection from the today's perspective, - I mean in a special way yes, as that time in my knowledge this was the all best ever - (and don't you believe I do always re-purchase this to have with me to be on the safe side), this was what opened my mind and wallet for the fragrances, and I will never forget the this to HUGO!
So guys and girls, this Hugo really is a nice safe blind buy ever, like Davidoff Cool Water, those are still and ever are modern, sophisticated, office-proof, compliment getters, so take those, enjoy those. Peace. ps: and don't forget the Polo Ralph Laurent as Zyleric told. :-)

M23

Very elegant male scent. Awesome

giuseppe98gp83

An excellent interpretation of Boss this Hugo. Very aromatic and green. It starts with fir, grapefruit and basil and then daring space to Mint with cedar. Excellent alternative to the Victorinox Swiss Army.
To be used in spring / summer.
Very very green!

Macca7806

I love wearing this stuff in hot weather. It lasts for hours and smells so fresh, green and uplifting but slightly musky and masculine at the same time.

This does smell very much like pine on my skin but not in an old man or floor cleaner kind of way. It smells clean and masculine

I have the new look bottle and performance is still great.

kazzaz

If any one asks me a perfume to purchase, I blindly suggest Hugo, it is one of the scents that EVERYBODY loves, it is kind of the standard scent in the perfume world, top notch.

Santos89

If you want a nice fresh scent for the fall, I'd recommend giving Hugo For Men a sniff.

The opening is a very juicy minty apple accord with lavender. It's a bit barbershop and very fresh.

It then gradually transform with hints of florals ramping up the barbershop effect, before drying down to an accord of lavender, apple and fir on top of hints of cedar.

Hugo For Men sounds more simplistic than it is. Wearing it really shows how good this stuff is.

It's not a players scent. This is the fragrance of a man who has a more mature agenda. Not that this smells particular mature - a 20 year old could pull this off with no problems, but it's more low-key and understated. It doesn't exude luxury, instead it's more of a man's man scent. Think Charles Bronson for the 90s.

If Bottled is Hugo Boss' masterpiece, then this is right behind.

Longevity is very good - 8-9 hours.

Rating: 7.5/10

zyleric

My number 1 or 2 most favorite fragrance the other being Polo Sport by Ralph Lauren. This is pretty much the perfume i have been wearing for the longest time and i really didn't care if i get compliments or not, Although this gave me one of the most important compliments of my life. Basically after wearing this consistently for years and years i decided to stop using it for about 3 years and just recently i bought a bottle and use it, my wife gave me the sweetest compliment by saying that the way i smelled brings her back to our early years as a couple. :) I reverted back saying i have been wearing this one for so long because i love it and i want to impress you by smelling this one on me but i didn't get a single response from you till now only ahahahaha! So i guess to compensate from that every time i wear this she will always say hhmmm... i smell you and your bringing back memories...

Ecotourist

I can say in that year (1995) it was leading in modern-day styles by lunching this fragrance. It still has lots of fans. Me is one of them lol

AK_Oud

Two words
Freshness overload.

voldogradsandwich

Sharp and airy. Smells like an apple and pine tree hand sanitizer. Very sharp for the first two hours, pleasant for the next two hours after which it becomes too subtle to notice.

Not bad by any means, you can do a lot worse for the price as this one is pretty safe and unoffensive.

Tracer1203

This was a regular for me in my twenties.

nice unique fresh scent back then.

takes me back to when I had an office job caught the train into the city and wore a suit.

TheLoneFragHead

A girls review on YouTube described it as Popourri.
That was completely correct. Popurri.

dglightblue

Definitely a men’s fragrance. The accords are right, this feels big though, it’s got oomph.

It goes more of a clear wood as the hours pass.

Good, solid fragrance, it’s a bit humid summer hear which might be why I felt it was a bit much for right now. Autumn and winter might yield differently

FRAGFAIL108

One of my first fragrances I purchased. An easygoing, classic fresh scent that performs great in the spring and summer months. It’s undertones leave a nice spicy vibe that are inviting towards all. The sillage and longevity on Hugo is decent and this one definitely gets compliments, I remember the lady at the fragrance store advised this one to me!

ReturnToScenter

Another high quality release from Hugo Boss, and one that I don't see talked about too often. Perhaps because it was a 1995 release that was quickly overshadowed a few years later by the release of Boss Bottled. But it should not be forgotten.

The first few minutes of the opening are fruity sweet (apple and mint), but even the opening sweetness is heavily shaded with the dominant "green spice" accord that is the real signature of this fragrance.

That core is made up of basil, cedar, fir, and patchouli, and the fruitier notes just sort of dance around the edges of this spicy heart.

But at the heart of that heart, at the core of that core, is the lavendar, and that's what makes this fragrance just shine. The lavendar is the bridge between the apple-mint and the patchouli-cedar, and it's a perfectly balanced transitional element.

This fragrance also performs like a champ, lasting 8-10 hours regularly on my skin.

Don't forget about this gem from Hugo Boss.

Turbo

One of my first colognes, from pre 2000 era, purchased it when it first came out. Great stuff, not as good as some newer colognes but unique and brings me back in time.

Thomaso7

I got this a long time ago, and it seemed nice back then. It's sort of a young mans scent, with the apple and light fresh sort of fragrance. There is a touch of cedar giving some light spice. for my impressions, it is for a guy maybe 20 or 22 years old who just got his first office job.

bondbandyo

i have this since the year 2006.
Manly sweet but still, i can smell kindda fresh morning air.
Good projection but not so strong to disturb.

Sure this is the gem to attract attention...

I Used during cold evening time...Best blend in me.

francois81

Timless classic from Hugo Boss. Fresh, green, flowery-pine scent, good for everyday use. It’s bit sythetic, but I like it. As most of the perfume which came from the Hugo house, not an outstanding fragrance but very wearable and safe. The opening is wonderful, in the top I can smell most of the notes, but the apple-lavender-mint combination is the dominant. The first 10-15 minutes are great, but after the scent going to bit unpleasent. The mid notes are too soapy-flowery, this part of the fragrance is not too good, but few hours later changing again and I’ll get a cool base with the fir and cedar. My biggest problem, unforunatelly I can’t get great longevity, maybe just 5 hours on my skin… even so safe and clear stuff, I like it…

- spring/summer scent for daytime

- sillage is bit over the average, but longevity is moderate, 5 hours

- Safe blind buy

Scent (open, top-mid): 7.5/10 (x2)

I liked this scent however do you know are there any website that shows the harms levels of ingredients of the product such as ewg.org/skindeep, but this ones ingredients is lack and web site indicated as old formulation.
Because I saw this it includes paraben and I could not be sure for using it.

SJC

Fresh, clean, musk and pleasant at first, then becomes too floral with geranium dry down.

Dr. M. Fadhil

It was the mid 90's icon.
I wear it for long time and I returned back again. It is a refreshing citrus and sharp patchouli scent

LachlanK

Bought this because I loved the smell of it in the store... 1 month later, I absolutely hate this scent - so synthetic, so cheap, gives me a headache everytime.
Boy did I learn my lesson!
I assume this is a result of it being the reformulation so I'd be willing to give the original another go

joe38

This summer is my favorite !!!
Pleasant juice ...
It has a classic line of the 90s but still has a more lovelier and wearable fragrance.
I like it classic and yet modern! Apples are overwhelming! I think this is a total "green" scent that never goes out of fashion!
Suitable for everyday refreshment! I think it is comfortable for any age group.
Sometimes I find sales and I have to be in my collection and this is a great buy!
I feel good when I get this scent!

grisego

Fresh spicy sums it up.

Fir, pine, basil, apple.

This reminds me of a particularly hot summer I spent in Sweden - it was perfect for southern Sweden somehow.

A completely refreshing pick me up day fragrance.

It should always be in your wardrobe for everyday.

Twilight99

So this was my signature fragrance back in the 90's. Back then I only had a bottle or two in my bathroom cabinet, and this was one of them. I remember I liked this one ok. I even got compliments.

I just recently revisited it, and now it's horrible, horrible. I can't understand that I ever liked this fragrance. It almost made me sick to my stomach. So much my taste have changed in a few years.

FragranceFinder

The marketing of this fragrance is way off. You won't feel like an urban 90s douchebag kid with fugly sunglasses wearing this. You'll feel like a lumbersexual man with a well-groomed beard cutting wood by the cabin. Uber-masculine and kind of old school, in the sense that it is much more masculine and classic than most new releases.

I think this is a great, safe fragrance that you can use everyday to work. Or, you know, doing macho things by the cabin.

ismellgood

Used to be good, synFKNthetic, me thinks synthetic colognes on clothes n real juices on skin, try burberry brit rythm plenty of compiments

HighCountryEsq

Hugo has been a favorite of mine since the year it was released and has always been in my spring/summer/fall rotation. The year I got my first bottle was a great year for me so I will always have great memories associated with it which makes it even more enjoyable when I wear it now. Also it still gets it's fair share of compliments.

Bigsly

My bottle is from 2009. This reminds me of Escape for Men, but I think this one smells a bit better. I'd rather wear something with notes that are clearer and more "natural smelling," though. And if I want a "fresh" or warm weather scent I generally go for ones like Blenheim Bouquet. I might wear it one more time and then put it up for swap, but to me this is one of those scents that I don't dislike, but I know I'd rather wear something else instead.

LachlanK

At first, I would've never picked myself to be a Hugo Boss fan, but then I smelt this, and my goodness am I glad I did! Quite a masculine scent that, really, could be used in almost any situation. A great "safe" option for a blind buy and a definite "go-to" in my collection. Easily a 9 out of 10.

Acnite

i was in a fragrance store and smelled many perfumes. Then a employee showed me this fragrance and i was impressed. I decided to buy it.
But now when my nose was not affected by other fragrances i am not at all satisfied with the scent.
I would even consider this as a regret buy now.
Now i can't tell what amazed me about this fragrance the first time...
Too synthetic for me.

alfrued

I used to love it, but i don't like it now.
very synthetic for my taste

moawiya.alanazi

I prefer this one to the boss bottled.

knightlore

I been using Hugo for 10 years.. I did get a bit fed up of it about 6 years ago.

I still have half of a bottle from 2006, just bought another bottle now 2016..

So the 206 Hugo lasts over 12+ where the 2016 bottle I be lucky if I get 5 hours...

I won't be replacing it!

Ebad

This is a classic legend which still rules out today. Its a very clean fresh and very manely and mature scent.Best for office wear.I can clearly smell apple aroma and lots of it.The 80's and 90's perfumes were the power houses and so does this.Sillage and lasting power are good.I always get complements when i wear it but most of them are from men.I recommend it for all seasons this is a safe scent.
Scent 8.5/10
Silage 8/10
Longevity 8.5/10....Peace...

Esmeralda1

I Love this! Its very masculine, long lasting, great projection as well. You get a LOT for the money.. Will make the man very attractive.. I think this now is My favourite for My husband to wear!

roachburn

perfect for work, last all shift, inviting but not sexy. Very clean and fresh, above average performance especially for this group of fragrance. Day time for sure. Primarily a spring / summer scent but Can be worn any season due to its good performance. Any occasion but personally i wouldnt wear it on a date only because i have better options for that purpose. This is the Scottie Pippen of fragrances, great in every area but the best in none.

Mr. Chris

One of my favorite scents that I've ever come across. For me it's a personal thing, it's very nostalgic because this was very popular when I was in high school, it conjures up a lot of great memories.

There were a lot of scents that were popular back then but this is the one that stuck out for me. It's bright, clean, fresh and masculine. I still rock this and I love this just as much now as I did back then. If they ever discontinue this I will hoard a bunch of bottles, I don't ever want to be without this.

Gelladon

Hugo by Hugo Boss is a staple in my vast fragrance collection. This is the perfect Swiss Army fragrance it just works for any and all settings. It's a crowd pleaser that does it's job well. Hugo won't blow anyone away but it will be well received by all who smell this on you.

Benighted

Fragrance of my youth :) this was the first "real" perfume I used, and I used it for many years in my late teens. Got a chance to smell it again now 15 years after I stopped using and it is an quite nice fragrance in the end, I was expecting it to be a lot worse to be honest, didn't trust my teenage sense of smell I guess.

Nothing I'd go out and buy now but it's a nice fresh scent that doesn't have anything really special about it, just smells nice, good for a casual wearer. Most people are not like us here at fragrantica with 30+(++) bottles of fragrances, multiple for every occasion and mood :) And I would rather smell this on someone than some AXE deo or something like that..

So I'd give this an 5/10, doesn't stand out in any way, inoffensive, fresh well, generic...

mohsen95

amjadqureshi

Love it. Why? dunno. Hate all the generic wimpy juices it spawned. But Hugo Boss Hugo is where the sea breeze originated first & moved on to Sahara desert.
But aah memories. I have forgotten her name & face but not the naked body.

sir reeksalot

i alway thought it had a kinda burnt rag smell to it.cant smell the apple but i can the graperuit and the fir.the rest of the flowers i've yet to learn how to differentiate or identify really.i dont wear this much any more.heck i thought ralph lauren made hugo.

knightlore

I bought the music limited edition from 2014 it smells different to my 2006 original one..

I Wonded if it had been reformulated?

rakan1985

scent : 10/10
sillage : 7/10
longevity :7/10
90% day / 10% night fragrance
nice mint and apple scent
one of my old fragrances, a masterpiece by boss, one of my best scent on the summer, the apple was obvious (who hate green apples )

rahulkm

Smells good at the initial stage.. but disappears so quickly.. huge disappointment

I'll be honest. I'm not a fume head. This was a blind buy at something like $20 for 30 mL. I sprayed it and all I could think of was: PLUM. That's it. PLUM.

Why did I think that? I have NO idea, and I still don't, but I've stopped caring. It's smells GOOD. Nothing on No. 6 of course, but good enough. For me, this is more of a "smartly dressed" casual evening fragrance. Nothing fancy, but get the shoes right. Great performance.

Imagine: Walking through Toronto's High Park in the early fall. The sun is just setting, but you're not in a hurry. The soft scarf around your neck feels nice as it moves with the wind. A friend calls out your name and you go to join them at a nearby bench. The discussion involves relationships.

Think: Smooth, Green, Elegant, Smart, Casual

Overall: 7/10 - Longevity like a Bawss.

im not sure what to think of this. yes, its synthetic but in a masculine way. Like many of the 90s fragrances were.
i remember picking up a hitchhiker a while back, and i reckognized this fragrance on him, and i thought he had made the worst fragrance choice ever. He was an average guy, and the fragrance didnt match his personality at all.
at the same time, it was perfect for him. little to no personality. smelled clean and general.

thats whats so hard about this fragrance. it fits most people, but only brings out positive things to a handful of them.

this doesnt suit the colder months. its too fresh.
its more of a spring fragrance type, but it still doesnt suit warm clothing.
Its so fresh. so energetic, and powerful that its better to use it during the summer on days where youre outside all day.
like put on 1 spray in the morning before u hit the beach, and just let it fade in with saltwater, sunscreen etc.
and if youre going out later that night, then 1 spray on bare chest and sweat it out while clubbing. as little cloth as possible.

thats what i think of it.

Surya@7987

Hello everyone. Can somebody tell me what is the colour of the juice. Is it purple or blue??

themattsky

I would never, ever use it now but it used to be my favourite fragrance in High School! Such a great, fresh and masculine juice. I guess now I like oriental and sweet fragrances more, but I would recommend it to teens and guys in their early 20s.

vitolezio

Well all that I can say is....it is a bang for the bucks. A scent for everyday use in summer.

greenpepper

Given to me as a gift long ago. It was definitely fresh (superfresh - like clean linens and cut grass) , with some notes I like (mint, pine , lavender etc.) but it also smelled synthetic and very department store generic. I kept it around for a long time and eventually got rid of it, as it deteriorated over time: definitely a use it or lose it fragrance.

I can picture the average person liking this, but not loving it. If you love it, well, cool beans.

ayaya

To me this smells like Diesel Fuel for life, its not my type of scent but it does las all day and it never fades. Its Sweet minty and gasy at the same time.

Melted

This is a fragrance I own that I tend to forget about. It's clean and fresh as others have said - it's very Hugo Boss! This is a perfume for all ages, all seasons and all occasions.

I'm wearing it today and it's never smelled so good.

darrenwrite

This is my go-to fragrance, I get great performance and would say this is good for all seasons and day and night, just a good all rounder.

AMajeedQT

Fresh, young, little sharp green smell.

Good for causal use or work.

jonnyboy81

Such a great classic cologne. You can never go wrong with wearing Hugo. Probably the best Hugo Boss cologne.

blindbuy420

I just got this in the mail and I like it. Very nice scent to wear to work or out. I can`t put my finger on what it smells like, but it is masculine, clean, and fresh. Almost kind of soapy in a good way. I only used 1 spray on my wrist and it`s strong after 2 hours. Good for any age, and for work, school, or play.

Seanfah

One of the first colognes I ever had, brings back bittersweet memories

Escoteric

This is another great fragrance, in a lovely bottle. Simple and eloquent. In their days Issey Miyake and this caused a storm. It is very clean, and limey with asea breeziness to it. You certainly can't go wrong, however therein lies its downfall, almost everyone sports this fragrance and that is a shame.

smr47

The very first one I got which was a gift. Nowadays you can find it everywhere, I guess everyone starting out to use starts with this.

lovealwaysalisa

Mmmm...This is a great, solid , casual fragrance for men. I have ALWAYS loved to smell it. Smells amazing, fresh, slightly spicy and slightly fruity. I love when my boyfriend wears this. I cant help but want to hug him and just breathe this in when he wears it. It's one of my favorites in his collection. Yes, it's nothing groundbreaking but a it's great everyday scent or even a casual date scent. Good one to have in your collection fellas. Women will love it. A modern CLASSIC.

California 00

Recently took a trip to Ulta and smelled it again. Perhaps its nostalgia but it still smells pretty good to me. A Classic.

Decently priced and a good fragrance.

Best to keep the review simple. This is a great perfume to wear and is unlikely to offend anyone. Its a great smell to give a good impression. I would say its lightly spicy and wears well on skin. Nothing amazing but is easily wearable

Santos89

This one is very underrated.

Sure it isn't a masterpiece, but it's a nice everyday fragrance, that smells very nice and lasts all day.

The opening is apple, mint and lavender, accented by notes of basil and citrus.

The lavender and apple stays throughout the duration of the fragrance. Shortly after the top notes are complimented mainly by notes of cedar, fir and sage.

This one is a bit synthetic, and isn't the easiest fragrance to pick the notes out of, as they all blend together in one big block of scent.

Overall I am pleasantly surprised by this one. To put it simply, it just works. It doesn't matter if it's cold or warm, it compliments the weather.

Longevity is good - 7-8 hours with good projection.

Rating: 8/10.

danielmventer

Great fresh aromatic fragrance!! BUT I think the geranium or carnation notes gives me headaches. But apart from that " a great summer night fragrance" but too intense for day wear, I would say.

Thomaso7

A light fruity floral woody-spicy. The fruity is kinda apple, but not really, I say grapefruit is more like it, but also apple, light floral at the same time but not sure what type, then it turns more into cedar spiciness. Good for the office, or daily use, but it's pretty juvenile, or amateur.
So I had it, (and still have some left) from my very early 20's. Not my style anymore. To be honest, I didn't even wear it much. This is for someone in their very early 20's or even younger. It's not grown up. I like more complex, masculine, non-fruity non-sporty scents. In other words I need luxury, elegance, class, grown up or amazing fragrances.

Ourfrank

From the opening you get that fresh Apple vibe along with some spicy, woody notes. It does eventually feel a little "soapy" but overall I would say that this is pretty linear. Honestly the first spray is the best part for me. After about an hour it starts to feel synthetic and kind of annoying. 2-3 sprays and that's it. Don't over spray or you will be the "cologne guy" with this one. Age group for this I would say 18-35. Good for after gym shower or just lounging. Not really formal at all to me. It's too laid back and almost sporty. It does project pretty well for the first little bit and seems to last for quite a while. It's also quite inexpensive, so if you're on a budget and just want to smell fresh, this is perfect. I give this 6/10.

JaxTheMinx

My husband wanted this for Xmas but I couldn't source it for love or money. I've just found a reputable supplier with oodles of old stock, just in time for our wedding anniversary. I love Obsession and I too wear the EDP but hells bells I would be pleased to sniff something other than Obsession on my husband. Do they still manufacture Hugo Men in the USA/Europe? Here in Africa it's really becoming hard to source.

Kiltak

A bit mehh... 5/10

pberg

This is my personal favorite date cologne. I love it, and get compliments all the time. It's too heavy to wear for every occasion, but I wear it everywhere anyways :D

archlordema

Green and Fresh but not the best scent for summer. It and oldy, I have it but is gettin some dust in my shelf. Can come back from time to time but it does not catch me.

k_althawadi

if u live in hot sunny country these is the fragrance for u , nothing special abut it

TouchyMonkey

I got this as a gift from my first proper girlfriend back in the 90s. I loved the smell so much and she couldn't get enough. Lasts all day and projects great.

Just ordered myself a big old bottle to remind me of my carefree days before I got old and grey.

julio.nahring

Well...this one is a little bit artificial. I use it only at days with sun shining but not a too hot day... The lasting is very good, about 10 hours.

Scent:6/10
Projection: 8/10
Longevity: 9/10

My father wore this one for ever when I was growing up, actually still wearing now. He loves it. Every time I smell it I think of him and growing up and reliving all those memories. So for that I love this one. I always will. Something about it smells so simple yet nice at the same time. Beauty in simplicity I suppose. A very good everyday scent when you can't decide what to wear. Classic from Hugo.

The Oracle

I'm surprised by some of the negative reviews here - so much so, that I wonder who in the world could actually hold such opinions about this modern classic.

The truth is that Hugo Boss for Men is a fresh, striking, unique, and powerfully attractive fragrance. It will be around for a long, long time. I've had it in my collection for seventeen years, and while I wear very little at a time, I've had a million compliments on it from women. Definitely a babe magnet-type cologne: it says, "I'm having a great time in my life". I would say this is a "young" scent, especially good for men under 35.

aami

I like the fragrance but the only bad thing about this one is that it leaves bad yellow stains on white shirts which never get cleaned after many washes :(

So I can only wear this on my dark colored clothes.

Simpl3R3vi3w

I think it smells like a synthetic apple with a bit of flowery scent. That is not a bad combination. The longevity is okay, i usually spray about 5-7 sprays and after 6 hours cant smell it. The sillage is moderate. Hugo colognes are early-to-mid-luxury designer juices. They're not super expensive nor cheap. I recommend.

arigarj

Kinda synthetic

robert.bierd

I been using Hugo Boss for men over 10 years, I love it!

Extol

I revisited this after only having a sample in my college days. It's good. Yes, synthetic, but you know what? It's still a good daily choice. Inexpensive and fresh. :)

It's decently tough stuff and lasts 8 hours or so. First hour it projects 4 feet or so and gradually decreases by the hour.

I think it'd be a good blind buy if you want a summer frag to wear daily.

Blondinblu

I'm probably going to offend a LOT of people here, but as a woman, I wore this just to do something different and I had men asking me what I was wearing all the time. So, what can I say, except, apparently, men think it smells great on a woman.

420

This cologne is very masculine, its different, doesnt smell like any other, very unique. The notes are fantastic, the lavender is so well blended with the apple notes and other spices. Really really well done. The silage is really good it projects like a beast and will last you most of the day. Definitely something to add to your collection. 7/10

Dead Memories

Ok , here it is im not gonna review this or somethin just straight to the final conclusion , its going to be a little offensive for some , but its just my take on this particular HUGO BOSS frag , here it comes : ITS BULL S#!T , dont buy this its so synthetic and generic it does not have any quality to it the best part of this frag is its bottle so as always !:
SCENT : 0.5 /10
Longeity : 5/10
Projection : 1/10
quality : 0.8/10
Yay or nay :) NO NO NO , never ever there are far better choices for the price overall 1.7/10

meroo

My brother own this perfume and I use it sometimes when there is nothing else around. I don't really like it though. It starts a bit offensive and smells like someone is sweating for a bit then it gets better. It never gets really cool though.

It's not fresh as some reviews suggest (in my opinion). It's just intense and daring.

At first, I didn't like it. Not to say I hate it, but I preferred Hugo boss No.6. After few times wearing it, I found it very interesting. It projects well and has good sillage. It may be funny, but I like to spray perfumes in my hair. In the days that I spray it in my hair, I like to occasionally stand under fan or air-conditioner :D

Caution: Do not go for more than 4 sprays
