Absolut classic. Everything was said about that. Crowd pleaser.

My rate 8.5/10

Gaboich

smells like sweet water and basic.

Not bad but outdated

RobSprays

Certified barbershop clean shave masterpiece. This takes freshness and gives it color and a soul. Absolutely delicious smell like im eating some soft melting mints. Great longevity but i find that most jpg eau de toilette are on the higher end of that concentration honestly might as well say eau de parfum and id believe it.

lulu169

Love love love love this on my boyfriend - sexy as FUCK!!! 😈🔥❣️❣️❣️

willba

guess ill go end my life then thanks guys

John_Barry.Smith

@therealcologneboy I must agree with you on this, shit lowkey stank. Only a deadass willywanka would wear such a musty cologne. Could see my pops using this

therealcologneboy

If you want to smell like a vanilla cream pie, this fragrance is for you. Sure the versatility makes up for some of the musty smell. However, this is honestly such a rob and Jean Paul Gaultier should discontinue this product immediately! The only person I could see buying and liking this product would be a boss baby!

TunaRave

A overheated fragrance that will always hold up.
Scent: A very sweet smell that strongly smells of vanilla, and a little bit of lavender, even. Starts off a little powdery and dries down to a very masculine scent. Can get boring. Maybe even feminine for some noses, but overall a very nice scent that's perfect for night and day.
Performance: Overall a very good performing fragrance that will hold up through the day nice and well.
Price: Expensive, but the cheapest in the Jean Paul Gaultier's line and worth it.
Good for winter, and very good for either everyday or formal occasions. This is a very good smell, though very common. 8.5/10

samuelares

This is a pretty good everyday scent, although some might find it boring since its a classic and everyone has smelled it before.

8/10

nourahalbqumi98

From the initial spritz to the drydown, this fragrance is a delight, with vanilla, lavender, mint, and cinnamon taking center stage, supported by delightful accents. Its longevity and projection are commendable, even with just a spray or two.

It's a striking and memorable scent, exuding playfulness and boasting a reasonably unisex appeal. While the price is acceptable, it may not be the ideal choice for sweltering temperatures or ultra-formal business settings.

Rasmus2007

this JPG is so underrated in my opinion. It has a very nice opening with mostly vanilla. Its a hard scent not to like, the only thing bad about this is that it doesnt last long at all on my skin and you have to be in cuddling distance to smell this on me which is a shame. Im a guy that likes to be discovered not to announce. But still I want people in like an arms range to smell me. Alot of people like to throw shade at it cause they're comparing it to the other JPG's. It isnt as good as lets say JPG elixir or JPG ultra male but I find it that it does its job well.

Slowlyee

Honestly really good and overhated starts off kinda powdery to me and then drys down to a nice vanilla smell. It also had pretty good performance perfect for daily wear in the colder months.

DDSpada

Very pleasant fragrance from the opening to the drydown - the main players are vanilla, lavender, mint, and cinnamon, and you can think of the rest as embellishments. Solid longevity and projection even with one or two sprays.
Striking, impossible to forget, playful, and even reasonably unisex.

The price is OK, but not great, and it might not be the best option for hot weather or very formal business settings.

ctraz

Classic. Strong lavender and vanilla dries down to vanilla-tonka sweetness. Slightly cloying if oversprayed. Flankers are nice but they aren't this. Best bang for your buck on the market for a while. Can't go wrong with the OG Le Male.

10/10

All day.
Every day.
Anywhere.
Everywhere.

hysteria1988

Picked this up as I had fond memories of really loving this back in the day, yes a mostly 'masculine' fragrance but its one I keep coming back to! stong lavender mint opening, and a sweeter vanilla dry down, long lasting, a nice addition to my collection!

Mariekiks

its not bad but there is better options like le male le parfum

Chronosnow

It is definitely my favorite Jean Paul Gaultier fragrance. Its definitely heavy on the vanilla&powdery smell. The drydown brings out the woody, cinnamon, & cardamom notes. The main accords are fairly accurate as well. It is accurate on the aromatic, vanilla, fresh spicy, and lavender accords. But to me, it doesn't smell warm spicy at all and the powdery accord should be way higher on the accord list. 10/10 fragrance all around.

Nico Mancera

1996: my sister who whas always a fraghead, give me a bottle of le male when i was a kid 11 years old. At that time i was only familiar with denim and axe (lol). I sprayed it on my wrist and the mint i smelled was mindblowing and the later drydown was very strong, so i have always a special memory of this fragrance and had 3 bottles when i was a teen i loved it, today i think its oke/ like it. The batches till 2010 where very strong. The new ones are a shadow of what it was from '95 till '10.
Today it is a little bit outdated.
A typical fougere with heavy lavender in the top and vanille and a bit cedar in the base.

901RT

The mint and cinnamon in this set the tone . Good projection, long lasting and just a good overall scent . It’s popular and OG for a reason . A solid 8/10

TheFraganist55

Honestly the OG Le Male gets hated on way too much. It is nowhere near Le Parfum, Elixir, or honestly any of the other JPGs, but it is the template for the DNA of those fragrances. It is fresh and warm with lavender, bergamot, cinnamon, and tonka. Overall I won't buy it because there's just way better out there, but I will respect it for essentially giving us even better fragrances from JPG.

Brett_Sinclair

The greatest of all time.
When Le Male first came out, it absolutely changed the game for men's fragrances. Minty, citrusy, flowery, aromatic vanilla, it was like nothing else that had come before it.
Projection and silage is beast mode. When you wear Le Male, you really wear Le Male. It's not subtle. It's loud, it's confident and it's sexy.
It's been my signature scent for 20 years. I wear other fragrances but always come back to Le Male. There's a reason why it's so popular and why it has spawned countless flankers. Because it's good. Very good. The best, in fact. None of the flankers have ever recaptured the perfection of Le Male and no other fragrance house has ever managed to capture lightning in a bottle quite the way Francis Kirkdjian did back in the 1990s.
I've recently stopped wearing it completely. Why? Because I've worn it too much. I associate it with times and memories that I want to move on from. But that's a me problem not a Le Male problem.
Oh, and make no mistake, girls love this smell. Especially if you've got the confidence and swagger to pull it off.
The only bad thing about it is that it's so good it's become commonplace. Overplayed even. And it is a youthful scent. You probably don't want to smell like this if you're a serious, professional man in his 40s or 50s. But then maybe you do? Why smell boring when you can smell like Le Male?
This really is as good as it gets. Maybe it's a bit dated now, maybe it's a bit too youthful and maybe I liked it so much that I wore it too often. But I'm very glad Le Male exists. It was an important part of my life and everyone should have a bottle in their collection.

Daddy_408

I have a brand new and sealed vintage le male bottle from 2010 before the reformulations. It is from BPI and in a limited edition collector bottle called Super Le Male Collector. Look it up it's here om Fragrantica. If interested shoot me a message.

danawhite

so i blind bought this on EBAY from a seller with 100% positive feed back over 500 sales and i either got a fake or this frag has NO projection at all, sprayed it on and it lasts 5 minutes on my skin before fading, very strange. my mom even said the same thing youd have to wear half the bottle to smell this??? did i get a fake?

luisr1

I love this fragrance, the vanilla with wood and cinnamon goes crazy, the only complain that i have is that it only lasts like 4 hours on my skin, maybe it’s because i don’t spray enough but apart from that its a super good aromatic fragrance,

Faeriecoma

Can someone review this that’s a girl who wears this? I love this so much I wanna wear it everyday.

EbagAppez

I have a bottle that is close to 3 years old, so I'm not sure if it is similar to the current bottles in production. For me, while this is not the room filling powerhouse it once was, I am still getting around 8 hours of performance on my skin and clothes. It seems to linger on my shirts the next morning, but this current day formulation does appear to sit closer for me and provides an arm length scent bubble for about 2 hours. It still gets some compliments from ladies that I date, and their ages have ranged from 20's to 40's, so this scent profile can still hold its own today.

Wayne2310

This fragrance is awesome. But for me it doesnt really feel like it would be worth it. Sure this fragrance smells awesome and can maybe pull a compliment or two. Mu only problem with it is that first it is very used by people who generally dont know much about fragrances. Second I believe that it is overpriced especially as you can get a better fragrance for the same price (like versace Eros) but if you want something from mont blanc I would vertaillut recommend ultra male over this (even though it does cost a bit more.

KingKaris

Smells very good but the cinnamon smells like a cheap candy

Gkanakevmenos

Very good and cheap

Tracery

opening smells like shaving cream in a good way other notes are detectable but they are subtle

0xrafae

I'm not into the testosterone-heavy vibes of barbershops, but I have a soft spot for the aromatic scents they've inspired. MFK clearly wasn't as refined back then, but you can see the things to come. Plus, it helped kickstart one of the most iconic perfume lines ever.

Hussam Ray

It doesn’t smell old fashioned at all ! I was surprised when I smelled it, the negative comments here don’t make sense, ofc it’s not bubble gummy like 99% of perfumes these days. But it is pleasant,

A really good choice for daily use
Thinking of getting a bottle now
I like it

SamTheOrca

Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier is a fragrance that deserves every bit of the iconic status it holds. From its striking bottle design to its unmistakable scent, it's a true masterpiece in the world of perfumery.

First, let's talk about the notes. Le Male opens with a bold burst of fresh mint, which immediately grabs your attention and sets the tone for what's to come. This initial blast of mint is soon joined by lavender, giving the fragrance a beautifully aromatic and slightly floral quality. As it settles into the skin, Le Male reveals its heart notes of vanilla and cinnamon, adding warmth and sensuality to the mix. Finally, a base of cedar and tonka bean grounds the scent, ensuring that it lingers on the skin long after it's been applied.

One of the things I love most about Le Male is its versatility. It's a fragrance that can be worn in any season, for any occasion. Whether you're heading to the office or out for a night on the town, Le Male always feels appropriate. It's sophisticated enough to wear with a suit, yet playful enough to pair with a casual outfit. No matter how you choose to wear it, Le Male exudes confidence and charm.

And let's not forget about performance. Le Male has excellent longevity, lasting throughout the day without needing to reapply. Its sillage is just right—not too overpowering, but noticeable enough to leave a lasting impression. I've received countless compliments while wearing Le Male, with people always asking what fragrance I'm wearing.

But perhaps the most remarkable thing about Le Male is its timelessness. Despite being released over two decades ago, it still feels as fresh and relevant today as it did back then. Its unique blend of notes ensures that it never goes out of style, making it a true classic in every sense of the word.

In conclusion, Le Male by Jean Paul Gaultier is a fragrance that ticks all the boxes. With its unforgettable scent, excellent performance, and timeless appeal, it's truly a must-have for any fragrance enthusiast. I give it a perfect score of 10/10, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to add a touch of sophistication to their fragrance collection.

Arantes15

This fragrance smells really good and it is a really good buy. However majority of dads and uncles might be using this fragrance so might come a bit old fashioned to some.

Score: 8.2/10

yadallah

I love this fragrance! It is vanilla, powdery, fresh! Super sexy! I will wear this until the day I die. Bury me in it.

gigusha31

This cologne is UNIQUE... 9 out of 10!
And keep in mind, this is not "NPC" cologne for everyone and everywhere!...

bubblebrendon

I really enjoy this fragrance, it reminds me of a barber shop smell, and a freshly shaven man. A very sweet appealing masculine smell. It fits a lot of occasions, and isn’t to strong for a casual type of day, but also good enough for going out for dinner or some fun.

Nicole5678

Lovely—a soapy opening, then I get really aromatic mint and subtle lavender that last longer than I expected, a little of the barbershop spice (cinnamon rather than the traditional clove). In the dry-down I get that wonderful, slightly industrial smell of old-school pomade (like Dax or Murray’s). I absolutely love this—just like stepping out of my old barber’s chair with a fresh cut. I feel like if you enjoy A*men Kryptomint, you would also enjoy this one.

dmitryrey

This is intereting. On me, this smells strange. Maybe a sunscreen smell, I think it might be the amber notes but not sure. I do not get lavender nor mint that people speak about.

f8

TLDR : Very iconic, bit pricey but worth it, medium strength

Over time this perfume has changed for me a lot and for the better, recently i noticed how much i liked it when i smelled it on other people and smells very good on my skin too.
For the price i would say yes, this is worth it, HOWEVER, still is pretty pricey for bigger bottles considering its a very used scent.
In my opinion it is very hard to overspray this perfume and I would truly say this is for ALL weather

Yehonatan

I really like Le Male It doesn't smell like an old fashioned fragrance at all. Really good for the price you pay.
the atomizer is pretty good. (100% Safe blind buy)

Hugoncfragrance

This is an amazing fragrance, this is my everyday and for every occasion since I’m pretty new to the fragrance industry. But hands down this is the best fragrance I’ve ever smelled in my opinion, and I’ve smelled a lot. My personal experiences with this fragrance that also makes me reccomend it to summer is that I put it in a smaller bottle and I just forgot about it, but when I smelled it again it almost smelled like sunscreen and it was an amazing summer fragrance.

I 100% reccomend this for a starter fragrance or for a blind buy it’s super easy to like!

TonyG

This has always been a solid buy, there's a reason why it's popular. I have a small bottle I found the other day that I didn't realize I had and it smallest like pure mint. That's all I can smell with a little lavender. Still very pleasant but I had no idea it just turned to mint after time. This, Ultra Male, Le Male and the Elixir are the only ones I have time for, Ultra Male being my favourite. The dozens of other Flankers are just tiny differences to an already great fragrance that is obviously just a massively desperate overgrab. Having literally 30 Le Male Flankers is just silly. What's next Le Male They/them? Le Male Astronauts poop bag? Le Male Groundskeeper Willie's Grease edition? Jesus JP move on.

JeremyPrajwal

This is horrible to me. There is nothing about this fragrance that I like. It makes me feel nauseated. Matter of fact I recall a walmart BodMan clone of Le Male that smelled better than whatever is being sold as Le Male these days. That being said I'll give it all due respect for being the legend it was back in the day. I have never smelled this in its prime and I'll probably never know or experience the greatness that everyone talks about. All I know is the Le Male that I own (purchased in 2022 at the airport duty free section) is not something I'd wear. I dont get no bubblegum I dont get no vanilla. I just get a headache. I have a full 125ml bottle that I just randomly keep spraying every now and then in the air and on my arm to smell and confirm that it indeed is bad and to regret my purchase lol.

dhmatyas88

I dont know have you ever smelld sunscreen, the og-s without any fragrance, yep thats smells like sunscreen.

ViegoLover

A non-offensive scent, nothing amazing nor bad, just kind of exists. It did not stand out for me enough as a daily scent or for any special occasion, just taking up space for my dad to use. If you are on the younger side, ignore influencers and get yourself something with a bit more depth

Mahmud10

Rlly good scent with aromatic and flowery Notes. The drydown is great as the opening. I would say the lavender is somwehow comforting Overall i would give this fragrance an 8/10

Stabillix

I HAVE THE 1995 BATCH.

overall a great scent, it feels like its a bit for the oldies but honestly fits any age, it would smell like a barbershop after a fresh haircut. the lavender really settles it all with a powdery vanilla scent and after the scandalwood is dried down it gives it that fresh spicy smell. The drydown is where its at.

petewentos

The opening that lends itself to the lavender and mint wasn't really a scent that I enjoyed when sprayed on my skin. I was skeptical about the cinnamon in the heart being too overpowering, but it blends well really with the orange blossom and vanilla. After a few minutes, the base notes start peeking through that I would describe as a masculine powdery vanilla with some amber and sandalwood elements while still maintaining the fresh spicy accord in the heart and the mint in the opening. Unfortunately, the fragrance leans too barbershop fresh for me and wasn't what I was expecting at all when I first sprayed it on a tester strip in-store. I ended up returning it because it didn't meet my expectations and the fragrance made me feel nauseous.

ari6464646464646464646464

opening isn't my favorite but the dry down makes up for it, don't buy this anymore tbh, quite old enless your over the age of 87. specifically 87.

mrlebah12

Opening is ok but i love the drydown. The drydown smells quite similar to le male le parfum too. Which is my favourite out of the jean paul gaultier le male line

MegaOTK

A good everyday or late night fragrance

Calebale30

Great minty opening note. Super sexy and masculine vanilla dry down. Very similar to Versace eros.

NCFragrance

Classic and comforting scent. Nothing over the top, something that is hard to find in winter fragrances. Most people have probably smelt this without even knowing. Even though it’s usually considered a fragrance for an older man it’s still wearable for all ages. If you have the money then buy this one for sure.

fvsion

best le male in my opinion, but smells like baby powder

SmellGood24/7

Genially crafted fresh and fun fragrance with a clean blend of mint, lavender and vanilla. Performance is on point, projects nicely for 3h and stays on the skin for 8. A very memorable DNA makes this a timeless feel good classic. Three to seven sprays for the best experience.

woodfreak

as someone obsessed with artemisia… this is VILE to my nose.

colognesigma

to me its aromatic sweet and bubblegummy with a sunscreen smell not in a bad way tho then you get mint pretty mid but still good

Mattyp1124

I’m not sure why but this is a fragrance that makes me sick whenever I smell it. I can see the appeal of it to some people and have even had friends say they enjoy it, but to me it’s disgusting. Now this could be due to the reformulation of the fragrance but based off other reviews, the main issue with the reformulation is projection and longevity. Personally, I think this fragrance smell like a sweet baby powder with hints of lavender that really make for a cloying fragrance. I’ve worn this a few times and each time it’s made my stomach upset for some reason. (Could be having a bad reaction to one of the notes). Out of all honesty, I can see it being a good fragrance but it’s one of the first fragrances I’ve smelt and thought “wow this is bad”. Of course this is all subjective. If you’re looking into buying this, please test it multiple times and make sure it’s something you enjoy. Personally, I would recommend any other jpg fragrance in the le male line such as elixir, ultra male, etc.
Anyways I hope this helps anyone reading, have a great day!

ZanTheMan99

I have No idea where the hate comes from for this fragrance. Its ansolutely delicious and lasts about 7 hours on my skin. Would reccomend for blind buying.

s_wms

Classic 90s scent. Aromatic vanilla and mint. Smells like a barbershop scent (aromatic fougere) with a blast of fresh mint and vanilla. Lasts very long (10+ hours).

Napoleão

Tive dois frascos em 2014-2016, e indico para quem está iniciando com perfumes mais marcantes.
Bastante doce, e ao mesmo tempo marcante e másculo. Você não passará despercebido.

Wyattkonrad09

I bought this fragrance about two months ago at a dillards, I only bought it to see what all the hype was about JPG now on the opening it does smell like baby powder or a bouquet of lavender and vanilla. When i put this on before school people did say i smelled like baby powder but once it dried down it not as strong but more of a subtle vanillic scent. overall this is a great beginner spring/cooler summer day fragrance that i would reccomend to anyone.

user2988

a classic that likely will never become old fashioned

colognesigma

a beautiful vanilley sunscreen fragrance good for the price at e discount perfumes you can get 200 ml for $65 usd

MrMarshy

the bottle had an amazing edging streak that made me goon on the sigma alpha males amazing bottle but horrible scent it smells like when my grandpa died in his retirement home...10/10

Midtsund

This is a very good all-year around fragrance imo.
It is very versatile, classy, and lasts a fair amount of time too.

Adrmoreno25

Has been my favorite sent since I was young. It's definately and emotional attachment I have with the cologne but it reminds me of all the good times ive had with my grandfather since hes always had it, and I've now consistantly worn it because of the memories it gives me.

Eddielovesfragrance

Smell good

nicksbored

This is one of my favorites no doubt about it. It's classy, versatile and a compliment getter!

Fragrance 9/10
Longetivity 6/10 moderate about 5-6 hours
Bottle Design 9/10 I mean..

aldo91

tested this OG today
this one is masculine and it is created by one of the masters of perfumeries FK

Vilim20014

This is damn good. Perfect spring scent. Works great for fall too, and hell, even summer. It is sweet, but I think it's perfectly suitable for hot weather as well. It just exudes spring and summer vibes honestly. Super pleasant, casual, easygoing, likable, kind of sporty. Quite bright and effervescent. Surprisingly good performance as well, at least on my skin. The only negative I can think of is that the aromatic note (mint I guess) is a little bit too sharp in the first 1-2 hours, and later on in the dry down I get a slightly weird... burned spicy note. Otherwise I really enjoy this scent. Great aromatic, fresh vanilla.

SleepyHaed

I'm laughing at the kids who see the reviews on Tiktok and go buy this just to hate it. Blind buying is not the move. I tested it in a store and then made my purchase, and I am loving it.

impulse01

Classic cologne smell. Mass appealing but nothing too special. Very versatile, can be used in a lot of places.

UCT

its is good it smells exactlly like Burrbery Men , so if you want a cheaper fragrance with the same exact smell you can go with Burrbery Men instead of Le Male Jean Paul Gaultier for men . that is my opinion.

tropic42

Here me out, this fragrance is very hated on because it has to compete with others such as Le Male Elixir or Le Male EDP which are two VERY hyped fragrances. If you look at it past that fact, it is a very good smelling fragrance with good projection if you wear enough. I am still a little bit confused on what the best season to wear is because the reviews on this say winter and fall the most but when I asked some people who did not know what it was, they said it reminded them of "boating" and "an island" which are not winter if I do say so myself. Finally I want to address the fact that because it is not as hyped as the others it makes it a little bit better, it makes it so not EVERY SINGER PERSON has this, you will smell more unique and still very very good. I got a complement from a random girl the very first time I wore it.

Forand

I see why JPG made Le Male flankers sweet. The mint, lavender, cinnamon and vanilla in Le Male would go crazy if it were sweet. Sauvage EDT will be more mass appealing for daytime casual. Tester bottles of this are dirt cheap so it /is/ a highly affordable reach.

After wearing this a few times it has made my top 5. Performs well and has a decadent aroma. edit: knocked down a peg by LMLP

SkinnyLongFragranceMan

In my honest opinion it smells like fancy febreeze, but for some reason I like it a lot. My little brother did a blind-buy for this fragrance and for its price, it is a sweet and fresh, but masculine fragrance that you could wear almost anytime.

GarrettO

Its ok in my opinion. If i had to say it smells like something i would say it smells like a barber shop for old people.

Jezur

I have noticed that there has been a lot of criticism on TikTok about this cologne.

However, I believe that the negative feedback is somewhat unfair. From my personal experience, I find the scent to be quite enjoyable and, given its price point, it offers good value for money. Sure, he performance of the cologne may not be the best in the world, but it gets the job done just fine.

Idubbz_gucci

This is a good fragrance you can smell lots of lavender and vanilla, this fragrance is definitely worth the buy if you are considering it.

jinkerhamilton

smells like a barbershop with vanilla
L blind buy

sally110

i loved it but it is a little overused, its not super strong i feel like its more for spring or summer than winter as many of you say

iADOLFOi

As much as I have tried to like it, I never have. Le Male always strikes me as a synthetic blast of baby powder that evokes nothing in me. Honestly, as a men's fragrance, I find it sweet, loud, and ridiculous. Then again, this is Jean-Paul Gautier's menswear in olfactory form... I honestly believe the success of Le Male is more due to its artistic bottle and aggressive marketing than to the scent itself. However, to be fair, it has character. You just have to know who you are and what suits you.

azimabdul

timeless classic irresistible

Dannydavito773

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male EDT: this fragrance opens up with a very powerful punch of vanilla and aromatic notes, dries down with pear and vanilla, and it’s base notes include wood, cedar and amber. With 6 sprays I get 5+ hours of longevity. Projection is very moderate but is to be expected from an EDT. For 100 dollars this is a good beginner designer’s fragrance.

SleepyHaed

I don't think anyone would smell bad with this... but I do not think I could see any female wearing this. Its not feminine at all. This reminds me of literally every adult male from my childhood. I would not be interested I'm any woman wearing this.

This fragrance doesn't lean more feminine. Women that wear this don't smell good, you smell like a man. This is a man's fragrance.

lulu169

All the bad reviews here - I'm sure u got a fake. The genuine one is a vanilla heaven, strong and very pleasant. Period.

It's very unisex, leaning more feminine - in fact, I'm wearing it myself as a cheaper substitute for Mon Guerlain EDP, it's the same gourmand vanilla with lavender 🪻

KJS88

This is one of the few fragrances I actually get compliments on. And not just "oh how nice you're wearing cologne," but "oooh you smell so good" type compliments. It's not giving dated or old. This latest Puig reformulation does smell a little different to the first bottle I got as a gift in 2005 (I assumed it was new then, never heard of it previously). Not as pungent and doesn't throw as big, but it does still smell great. Still better than the previous reformulation. There was a period of two or three years during which I couldn't wear this because of some sensory and sinus issues I had which made it smell "off," but since they've passed, I'm really enjoying it again. It has presence without being an ambroxan or iso e super bomb. I really like the far dry-down, its a rich, foamy shaving cream, and I wish that aspect of it was louder.

A perfumer called Aaron Terrance Hughes did a review of this on YT a few years ago maybe and described it perfectly. Classically French but constructed with Anglo tastes in mind from good vanilla, nice musks, a likeable green spice accord. Clean but warm and sensual.

parvatishallow

Opens quite bright and fresh with a notable aromatic profile that quickly dries down to a soft, powdery vanilla. In the dry down you get hints of that aromatic freshness, something slightly oriental. On the whole it's a vanilla talc-like fragrance though. Very unisex.

I like this. Pleasing, smooth, inoffensive, and comforting. However, this doesn't feel super special or interesting to me. Good for every day wear all year around.

Phantom8194

Really nice fragrance, strong lavender in the oppening and then a mix of vannilla, decent preformance as well good for winter

Vlad Gorneanu

This fragrances has been somehow disregarded because of it's age and popularity but it remains a beautiful scent. Vanilla infused fougere with a specific and recognisable blend. Projects and lasts decently good. Price is also great. For an everyday super casual fragrance, it's still one of the best.

alex1127

Very good budget cologne for around 40$ at your nearest Nordstrom Rack. Very nice cologne, it smells nice and vanilla-y. Though I must say, never buy this from a store like Macys, or Nordstrom itself.

Pinochles

very powdery, heavy on the vanilla. maybe a little bit outdated. i could see my dad wearing this in the 90s. other than that its a decent winter/fall fragrances. wear it occasionally but most likely won’t buy again for retail.

Montebello

I can't stand the opening to power through it

POWWAAfragrance

Love the scent. With about 5 sprays i fill up a whole room. From the opening all the way to the dry down it is absolutely invigorating. Has a nice mint smell and reminds me exactly of shaving cream. One of my favorites in the JPG line and would strongly recommend.

doodluv

In it's current formulation: A very pleasant vanilla focused scent with the faintest note of mint (giving it an ever so slight green twist) that may come off as a bit dated for some.

It does not fill up a room anymore as older formulations did, not even close, it's actually quite weak and feels 'thin' and watered down in comparison.

I also pick up much more on the cardamom with my current bottle than before.

pusha65

I dont care how overused people say this is, I still love it
Not really clean for me. Extremely sweet and i get a lot of vanilla and lavender from this
surprisingly works in the summertime, and works better in warm weather in my opinion

oscxrccc

Decided to wear this today after not wearing it in a month or so. last time i wore this was dec 2023 whilst in Finland. i wore it for when we went for dinner at the posh hotel we were at where a girl complimented it on me.

Scent 8.5/10 - sexy versatile and clean. vanilla makes it seductive with lavender giving a fresh smell.

Longevity 6/10 - some dont get good longevity i personally get 5-6hrs then it goes to a skin scent.

Sillage 6/10 - good for about 3-4hrs.

overall 8/10. its versatility carries its score but still worth picking up as the cheapest in the 'le male' line.

rs790

I loved the tester. I loved it when I sprayed it on the back of my hand.

But then something weird happened after I wore it for a bit, and that is that the entire scent profile just turned to play-doh on my skin. Whenever I smelled it, whenever I wore it - eventually it ended up smelling like play-doh for me, which is a problem, because the smell of play-doh makes me nauseous.

One of the first and only times I've ever taken a bottle back to the store with the receipt and returned a fragrance. I couldn't stand it, and to this day I'm mystified by what scent notes in the bottle are coming together to do that once it hits my skin.

caleb allure

canny good fragrance but is outdated
so many more better jpgs my favourites being le beau edt and le male le parfum
this is rlly good dont get me wrong i love the mint in here
smells like dads now unfortunately
overall 7.3/10 get a different jpg this ones been out ages

azimabdul

timeless classic irresistible

Bukethätman

Simpy lovely. When i was about to buy it i didn't even test it on my skin. It smells a bit different when on my skin, but i has the vanilla note, which makes it good in my opinion. 9/10

osum54

Something about the original Le Male rubs me the wrong way. I did not like it at all at first and still don't like it that much but I do respect it for being the originator of the le male line. Even ultra male is iffy for me. I do highly recommend Le Male Elixir though, that one is very good. Then again I do like spicy, cinnamon, honey type scents.

benkim

Took awhile since Ive acquired to really like it. As a juvenile nose in high school, this was "too mature" and "harsh" for me to wear. Something in this then (I suspect spice), smelled a bit bitter to me.

I decided to re-wear it, since I have been enjoying other flankers - Eau Fraiche, Le Parfum and Elixir. And this is a mint, vanilla, lavender fragrance with decent enough sillage and longevity.
This dries down to herbaceous, somewhat green tinted vanilla, which I found to be pleasant. It was a trendsetter of a "masculine fragrance" then, and its effects still linger with the flankers.

certifiedborderhopper

smells good, but smells like old people

phantom102567

Great fragrance with an awesome, attractive vanilla.
Sillage could be better and has good longevity.
Definitely a 9.5. Highly recommend if you're looking for a sexy and versatile fragrance. Compliment magnet.

Defindo

This is my first JPG fragrance and I received it just a few days ago, I heard a lot of mixed reviews on it, some claiming it's "dated" but as soon as I got it... I couldn't stop wearing it. I've worn this fragrance 5 days in a row now and just cannot get enough of it. It's so simple yet addictive, it harbours this elegantly rich creamy lavender scent that I just want to re-spray 24/7. Not to mention it's extremely versatile and I'd personally say you could wear this anytime and any season.

I'm in my very early 20's so to me the claims of it being "dated" or "for older men" just simply don't ring true. Anybody could wear this. Just an absolutely outstanding fragrance and I'll definitely be buying Le Parfum and Elixir after experiencing the classic. 10/10 from me.

morre.stanley

10/10 fragrance when i wore it the girls at school took my sweatshirt and started smelling it

Vickykin

My bf had it and I hated this one..badly!!!!

MartinSicha

very creamy vanilla and lavender, very overhated on tiktok but it does NOT deserve its hate. incredible starter designer fragrance and i recommend it.

DapperDon

Smells like a creamy lavender, vanilla & sandalwood scented lotion.
Vanilla is not strong, no mint really w/ a hint of cinnamon.
The Aloft hotels use the le male 🧬 in they’re ( dry bar ) body care products, but they don’t mention that.

aronfragrance

this fragrance is so sexy baby, love the vanilla

ChristianBasset

Recently purchased this fragrance and I like it. It has a nice smell and lasts forever but also is a bit too powdery for me. Overall an 7-8/10.

Afc_Croatian

Le Male in 2024.

Wow wow wow, still one of my favourite scents ever.
Le Male opens up with that aromatic vanilla we all know and love, the combination of vanilla and lavender smells incredibly clean and fresh. At first impression I found it similar to an expensive aftershave.

I think the cinnamon is what helps this smell like a spicy vanilla lavender aroma and to me it's nothing like my other fragrances in my 100+ collection. I love this one so much, I find myself having to buy another bottle often.

Longevity is still great, you are probably just going noseblind to it.

Still a 9.5/10 for me

Joel_perfumeboss

Put on clothes and it lasts almost 24hrs

MachoSlim

A very nice mint/lavender opening which dries down into a powdery and subtly creamy vanilla. It has very broad appeal, and is a great fresh and sexy fragrance. Maybe a bit too powdery for me, but nonetheless a good value pick.

7.4/10

eliotweg

Still a great fragrance overheated imo. A versatile everyday winter/fall fragrance has a great aromatic vanilla note that is just pleasing the wear

Max_fragrance

I just got this cologne, i feel its pretty good, a nice sweet and not too strong but not to weak.. I think this is perfect for anything, if i change my mind i will change this review. Good 9/10 cologne.

Södertälje

Classic fragnance. I have the original formula and it’s to strong haha now the performance is more versatile

krullieboyhenk

I relate this fragrance with a fresh classic barbershop that is neighbouring one of those classic candy making stores.
It is fresh and sweet but not fresh enough for summer and not sweet enough to be a date night fragrance, but it is perfect for in betweens.

It isn't very long lasting on skin and not very good at projecting wich makes it a better fragrance to just 'throw on' without thinking and still being able to smell good to most people.
There are some people that despise this fragrance and think the sweetness doesn't mix well with the fresh aspect and I can see where they are comming from, I would just advise you to smell this first and if you're blown away get it as a regular signature scent.

(In my opinion the "made in france" Le Male is way better then the "made in spain" but that might just be personal as there is only a slight almost unnoticable difference for most people)

JFK deserved it

I got this fragrance not to long ago i have to say it smells pretty good and sweet i would recommend you ti buy it if you are looking for a new fragrance that is not weak or is not that strong. 8.5/10

Scotty2388

I was fortunate enough to be given an unopened tin/bottle from 2006 by my dad, and it smells epic!!! It’s an absolute classic and is great for any occasion

Piggy41510

This stuff is just good!! One of the best lavender fragrances in the game!! On my skin I get 10hours easily but I keep my skin hydrated and I drink plenty of water. But I really love this fragrance and I don't care that it's old!! I love it and I will always have this in my collection. MFK made an iconic fragrance in 1995, and I'm still rocking it in 2024!!

Tulgafragrance

Love this scent, just wish it was a bit stronger. Other than that I use it daily, for some reason I can't stop using this one.

OAKESKINEN

It is kinda synthetic. Other then that it’s good

peteralv.

I would be lying if I said I enjoyed the opening of this fragrance. Though the dry down smells sweet, sexy, and like edible vanilla, the opening is very important and to me. To me, the opening smells oddly like a porta-potty.

SmellMasterBoss

Smells a bit like a barbershop but much better. Probably my favorite le male as of now.

KaanE

People may say that this is outdated but I don't think so.This is in no way outdated Francis Kurkdijan did a great job with this.I in the year 2024 (but I speak mainly of last year) still do get compliments wearing this fragrance.Much better than the NPC scent le male Elixir.

MoggedbyDemir

I don't get why too many people hate this fragrance. The opening is a strong masculine lavender mix and 40 minutes after spray, it smells edible, vanilla. This is such an original and way underrated in my opinion.

Kinnyski

It was 1996 and at 26 I was looking for a fragrance that I would like and suit me. Those my friends used or the popular women's brands like Estee Lauder Pleasures/ white linen/ Beautiful, Chanel and Clinique did not go with my body chemistry. I saw this in the men's dept, liked the bottle and was thinking of buying this for my brother. I sprayed it on paper and fell in love! Tried it on my wrist and walked around the store. After an hour I smelled something fabulous like a minty but herbaceous spicy vanilla wafting up my nose. It was gorgeous! That bottle never made it to my brother and became my signature scent. It was unthinkable for women to use men's fragrance back then but I didn't care! Everyone asked me what I was using bec it smelled fabulous. I have been exploring male scents since then!

Fjed

i was thinking of buying 200ml of it. Then i went to a store and tried it. And i am so glad i did because this just did not appeal to me. It just smelled like laundry but in a really bad way. Now this is just my opinion.

kruk666

I didn't love it as much as I liked to but smells good. I don't know what makes it that doesn't 100% convince me. but I'll give it one thing, the longevity really is eternal, I got super wasted yesterday night, I laid on dirt, grass and a blanket with my own vomit and I still smell like le male. props to them.

Daylight$Sultry7

In my mid-20s and relatively new to the fragrance scene, Le Male is a ubiquitous presence in the world of male fragrances. I definitely had to have a bottle of my own. I recall seeing Le Male flanked by a bottle of Pierre Cardin on my dad's shelf. Le Male opens with an invigorating burst of fresh spiciness that gracefully dissipates after 30 minutes, settling into a captivating and aromatic experience. Despite my initial reservations towards vanilla (for flavor and scent), Le Male's interpretation proves palatable, seamlessly blending with the woody and spicy undertones, especially with the cinnamon and/or cardamom. The harmonious combination of various notes culminates in an overall pleasant scent that exudes the essence of vanilla leaving a barbershop. It reminds me of fall.

While it may not be my first choice for professional settings or dates, I find immense satisfaction in indulging in this olfactory delight within the confines of my home. I'll have to wear this for a few dates and see what the women think. Some people have complained that reformulations of Le Male are too sweet now. I can sniff this fragrance all day thinking, "Gee, this smells good." Its enduring longevity is noteworthy; the fragrance lingers for an extended period, leaving an aromatic trace in the bathroom long after leaving for work, as I am told. Good bottle to keep around.

sh83

Smelled this years ago at Macy's and hated it. Since then, I've gotten way more into fragrances and perfumers and I feel my tastes have matured a bit. While browsing Fragrantica, learned it was made by Kurkdjian which made me curious to try it again but not enough to actually seek it out. Fast forward to Christmas this year where I received a sample vial so I was excited to give it another shot. Well, I actually ended up hating it more than I remembered the first time. I say this as respectfully as possible as I realize this fragrance gets a lot of love and just must not be for me but I did try to give it a fair shake this time around. I tried it on a warmer day as well as a much colder day to see how it reacted to different temps, tried it on skin and clothing and just do not understand the love for this one. I was also surprised to see so many rating this as a male scent as it legit just smells like a generic female shaving cream to me so I'm using the remainder of the sample vial as a bathroom room spray.

MrMrBrian

I was single for a long time before I got ever got married My next door neighbor that grew up with me was a real loser! J.s But was one helluva wing man! That was for sure!! He could talk the talk even tho nothing he said was the truth…40 years old & delivered pizza for two diff pizza places…He lost all his front teeth and never cleaned his house or bathed….EVER!…But was obsessed with sex & It was all he could think about and would wash his private parts in the sink before going out and getting me the ladies I would have to smell where he bathed in “THIS FRAGRANCE!!” I have flankers of this that are different enough and don’t remind me of it..Maybe it’s the lavender. But yeah I couldn’t wait for Robert to run out of his Gift set of LeMale

FragheadMo

Le male is a classic and one of the few from Kurkdjian i would keep. The opening is harsh and i don't like the overpowering cola-accord, probably from the cinnamon and mint. But the drydown is gorgeous. Unfortunately, it's become too sweet for my taste now. I wish they released one flanker, with a nice opening, better ingredients and less sweet overall. I love the vanilla-lavender combination with a bit of freshness from the mint. I tried Reflection from Amouage, and it's not what I was looking for as a better le male, even worse in my opinion although of much better quality. Body kouros is the way to go if you want something smoother and more masculine of that type. I still give credit to Le male for being a classic and of which i carry many great memories.

7,5/10

C Schmoney

My least favorite in the Le Male line, however still solid. A minty barbershop vanilla lavender fragrance that is very smooth and inoffensive. A definite classic crowd pleaser. I personally think it smells a little too old school for me, but in no way do I think it is bad. A relatively safe blind buy for the mature men out there, but for us younger guys, I'd recommend testing it out first.

Scent - 8.0
Longevity - 8.0
Sillage - 7.9
Value - 8.1

carrotmaxxing

This has been my signature scent for quite some time. It's a classic scent that is surprisingly versatile. Some might find the opening a bit weird but the dry down is undeniably beautiful with the vanilla note being really noticeable. Even though it is now perhaps outshined and outperformed by the newer Le Male frags, I still believe it to be underrated and definitely worthy of a blind buy if you find a good deal.

h3llboi77

Just bought a bottle of this yesterday, and it’s awesome. I’ve been testing fragrances at a store in my town for a few months, and decided to get this one as my first real designer fragrance, as this was my all-time favourite. It smells awesome, it’s got a sweet “barber shop” vibe to it, and it’s very vanilla dominant. Performance is good on my skin, about 7-8 hours of longevity with 2-3 hours of strong projection.

Scent:10/10
Projection:7/10
Longevity:7/10
Overall: 8/10

coco_nut679

To me it smells like an expensive deodorant. Its pretty decent, but nothing that blows my mind. Blind buy worthy. Overall a 7/10

Professional.Sunflow27

Extremely comforting and iconic scent. It definitely Does not deserve the hate it gets. To me it’s very vanilla heavy in the opening but the dry down is an amazing mix of vanilla, mint, and lavender.

mhsaia

Perfect blend of sweet and fresh, very ahead of its time and still stands its ground in todays market. Since its not nearly as popular, it can work great as a signature scent.

8.9/10

Ed_Lanz

Not one of my favorites but it’s not a bad fragrance, it’s a vanilla sweet and minty smell that also feels clean thanks to the lavender. Quite versatile, it goes well on day and night on any weather except high heat. I don’t dislike it but I also don’t find it interesting enough to wear it on any situation other than a very casual setting or staying at home. I think the flankers are much better and interesting even though they aren’t as versatile. Can’t complain about the quality for the price though, as I get 10+ hours on my skin, and it is the cheapest from the line.

Scent: 6/10

I have heard this referred to as outdated but I tend to disagree. I find this scent extremely relaxing due to the vanilla and lavender. The opening has a lot going on and I had trouble differentiating notes, I could smell the mint but had a hard time trying to decipher the rest, the dry down is where it shines for me. Sexy vanilla with a powdery barbershop vibe. It's definitely masculine but more of a clean cut masculine smell rather than a bold bad boy leather jacket type macho fragrance. I found the performance to be not bad, about 7 hours with good to very good projection/sillage in the first 3 hours.

Elliott's Scents

very interesting opening smell:

Smells quite like sunscreen and i tend to use it as sunscreen too. Many say i overspray buy id rather smell VERY fresh than " fresh ". When visiting Cambodia, I was greeted by 3 ladies who asked what fragrance i was wearing. It tastes very sour. After drydown smells sort of like a freshly cut field on a warm dewy morning. Many say that this fragrance lacks due to it similarity of sunscreen but i think its better used as sunprotection. .

I rate it 6.3 out of 8

JockyNut

Just like a minty marshmellow in a bottle, 8/10

enestate

it makes me feel like i am a cloud in the sky it's just clean i like it absolutely wearable at any time has a nice scent lasts 6 hours and it cames with a shower gel which is very nice to own

mashketova134

As I woman I find it perfectly wearable in the colder time. Both men and women seem to enjoy the vanilla lavender combo on me. It's not head turning or loud, just comfortable, pleasant and enjoyable, I think that's why it's universally liked and leans so unisex on me. Like I just had a shower and threw on a few drops of vanilla and lavender oil.

Saltychipdust

This may be old school but I still get younger girls complimenting my scent when I wear this. Let’s get this right …..Francis Kurkdijian came up with this and it’s a masterpiece! I was wearing the new not so long lasting Reflection 45 and this to me just beats it. Le Male is fun clean, and projects nicely without being offensive. If you never tried it before then give it a sniff.

Holadis

The longevity is great for its price but i cant stand the smell. It smells like soap in your bathroom
Just outdated.

fikmi1708

“Wow” That’s the first thing that comes to mind when i smelled this. I picked up the vanilla the most and a little bit of mint right off the top, a little bit bubblegum too. It’s my first JPG fragrance. My first “expensive” designer fragrance, sort of. I blind bought this an old batch from 2011. I have no idea how different it is from the newer ones. Other than that, to me this is versatile, you can wear it in the day (not a hot one), at night and even in the cold weather. I do agree this gives off a cool vintage vibe, kinda like an old barber smell. Instantly my favorite in my collection 8,7/10 (I dropped it because i find it didn’t last that long around 3 hours max)

Edit : dropped the rating to 7/10 this performs worse than the other fragrance that i have. Still really likes the smell though, very insensitive.

Salkantay

Great fragrance, but it leans too heavily into vanilla for my preferences. It's so commonly worn by men in their 40s and 50s that this likely smells familiar even if you've never sampled. It's still an enjoyable scent to wear. Don't use it on date night because you might remind your partner of their dad or uncle.

Sinc scent

Smells like petroleum to me with a hint of mint

karolthepope

Had a decant way back. I actually really enjoyed it. Was considering it to be my first-ever bottle, but I got the prada l'homme instead. It smells very fresh but not in a summery way. A bit of barber-shop aftershave vibes with a lot lavender. I've seen people say it smells dated but I actually think it still holds up today. Smells nothing like JPG Ultra Male, this one is a bit fresher and not sweet at all. Would get a bottle for the nostalgia maybe. I really wanted a bottle back then

AkselSvEn

oooooooollllllllllddddddd schooooollll

AhmedWSWA

This cologne is the most hated one in the JPG line but to me, it's one of my favorites out of them all. It does irritate my neck and cause a rash and some itching but it's worth it. It's a very versatile cologne and you can wear it pretty much everywhere. It has a nice soapy fresh vanilla scent and it's not overwhelming at all. This is very underrated and I would recommend it to anyone, mature or not. Probably one of the most underrated colognes in my opinion.

Sweet&Fruity

My all-time sexy masculine favourite.

None of the JPG fragrances are subtle - from a woman’s perspective, I’ve tried Scandal (incredible), Classique (didn’t like it, smells like fly spray to me), one of the other Scandals, La Belle (divine, I want it) all of them blast when you spray them, there’s no other way to put it. I would say none of them are shrinking violet fragrances - you wear them to be noticed.

Le Male is firmly in the ‘get me noticed’ category. It’s instantly recognisable, and strong - walk past someone wearing it and you’ll instantly know what they’re wearing, if you’ve ever worn it or smelt it. Every time I walk past someone wearing it, I do a double take and then want to trail after them!

I first fell in love with it on an ex boyfriend, whose skin chemistry worked so well with this, it literally drove me CRAZY every time I saw him. My current long-term partner has worn it on many occasions also - I’ve gifted it to him more than once - and although it smells equally divine on him, it doesn’t work exactly the same with his skin chemistry as it did on my ex, which just goes to show you how skin chemistry changes a scent.

This is so strong. An intense fragrance, worn to attract compliments/glances, whatever - as I say, you will get noticed wearing this. Love it or hate it (and I know not everyone does love it), it’s a definite head turner. It’s got an almost medicinal smell, not in a bad way, like an alcohol-herbal-woody-antiseptic smell, with a definite sweet and spicy blast thrown in to the mix. It’s clean and fresh, but also sultry and sweet - very complex, many notes on the nose. It’s got both strong sillage and strong longevity, which is great (if you like it that is). It’s kind of hard to describe, but as I say, instantly recognisable.

The original, and in my opinion, the best, take-me-to-bed scent.

Tshahb

I used to wear it in my youth, like 25 years ago.

It smells the same, but something is missing, and the magic dissappears after 5 minutes leaving a Mugler-es que, sweet aroma-chemical soup.

Maybe it was always thus, but I remember it being special.

CloudAtlas77

This is where it all starts for me. If I had to take one fragrance with me to a desert island, it would have to be Le Male. Suitable for everything, everywhere, anytime. I've gotten the most compliments with Le Male. Vanilla, lavender, mint – what could go wrong! People are gonna love it on you 😉

Iscariot13

The OG. Whilst flankers like Elixir and Le Pafum are a fresh, spicier take on the original, there is something special about the original Le Male that just can’t be beaten.

It’s vanilla bergamot minty powdery magic is never intrusive or overpowering (yes, Dior Sauvage, I’m looking at you…) and has a dose of nostalgia mixed in that appeals to the 30+ crowd.

To me it’s a fresh, confident scent that make one feel like fresh sheets blowing in a grassy daisy field near a white sand beach.

A classic 💙

Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male, Everlasting Elegance

The scent "Le Male" by Jean Paul Gaultier is a masterpiece that has withstood the test of time and never fails to enchant with its ageless charm. This fragrance celebrates sophistication and masculinity, from the distinctive shape of its sailor-inspired bottle to the excellent note combination inside.

A blast of refreshing freshness is created by the opening notes of lavender, mint, and bergamot. The fragrance's heart displays a perfect balance with a floral touch that adds a depth of complexity while keeping a manly character.

The base notes of the fragrance are a comfortable blend of sandalwood, tonka bean, and vanilla.

oddsoy

not my favorite vanilla ever. i hate the screechy, synthetic mint when initially sprayed but the dry down is quite nice. warm vanilla and fresh bergamot is what i get on my skin

Piggy41510

Found this gem of a fragrance at Marshalls and it was a gift set with 125ml and a 40ml for 70.00$ bucks. I love this fragrance and the lavender 🪻 and mint I think is well blended and that vanilla is smooth. I will always love the OG Le Male and I don't care who doesn't like it!!! I love it and it's a great legendary classic.

Tulgafragrance

even though its not strong for some reason its one of my favorites. I wish it was strong as these old heads say it was back in there day but other than that this fragrance is incredible. just gotta reapply every 3-4 hours

This a Great Timeless Classic and A MASTERPIECE by FRANCIS KURKDJIAN . You can't go wrong with Fragrances created by Him.
Minty , Vanilla and Ambery. My review is based on the new reformulation bottle. At first I received Two samples of that then I bought it.
It opens up with fresh spicy and Minty and spices notes in the background then dry down is creamy sweet Vanilla and Ambery. It is sweet but is not cloying. Le Male is perfect for cold weather. I'm so happy that I have it in my collection and I love it. Longevity is good.
Two Thumbs Up.
Bravo Monsieur Francis Kurkdjian !

Hello world! So because I have a love of fragrances, I love to share that with my boyfriend as well... Every year I gift him a perfume for his bday & Christmas, alongside whatever else lol. Last year for Christmas I lovingly gifted him a 125 ml. full size bottle of this bad boy. I smelled it in-store & I was swoooooning. This is a crowd-pleaser for sure. It smells like a tender masculine scent. When they wrote the description for this, they were not lying. That vanilla definitely makes it feel tender. The main 3 notes that I pick up on from this are the vanilla in the base, the mint which gives it a freshness, and the lavender which give it a soothing beautiful floral aspect. It all combines together and makes this comforting fragrance and to me, when I snuggle up to my man, that's what I love to smell. I think it smells beautiful, and though my boyfriend has almost finished the bottle and enjoyed it, it wasn't his favourite (to each their own) lol. In my opinion this isn't a tough guy fragrance, it's not bold but it is beautiful & relaxed. I wouldn't buy this for him again because he doesn't love it but maybe I'll buy it for my lil brother instead so he can enjoy it as much as I do (selfishly)!!! Do try it, it does last & has good sillage.

I have 7 bottles of the old formula, which is very strong mint and lavender, while It’s beast mode and good, I have to say the reformulation is not bad at all! I really enjoy both new and old formulas. Both very long lasting. And smell great. Also thee most complimented fragrance I own. Girls love this fragrance!

I never owned this fragrance back when it was released in the mid 90’s. I certainly recognise the scent from pubs and clubs back in that time period. I bought a few of the more modern le male flankers and thought I should try the OG. I have to say maybe it’s my age but the OG with its added freshness from the mint is the most versatile by a long way. If I could only own one Le male flanker it would be the OG. My wife is a big fan of the OG more so than the Elixir especially. I have to agree with my better half. The Elixr is so sweet I struggle to find the right time to wear it and feel it doesn’t suit me. Le Parfum is pure class but more for evenings or dressing up. The OG to me does not smell dated at all. It’s fresh with a good dose of sweetness. I am a realist with older fragrances and openly admit when a fragrance smells outdated, even if I still enjoy it. The OG le male still smells on trend in todays tastes. I highly recommend this one if you want something that is not too sweet but has a tonne of freshness, whatever your age.

Heard people talking about it not having aged very well, and that it smells outdated, as a 21 y/o guy i can say confidently that that statement couldnt be further from the truth

jodopsi

I used to love mint´s fragrance but this one is a bit overpowering and I got that toothpaste mixed with sanitizer that clogs my throat. I cannot smell anything else.

ivorianangel

this is so cute and is my most complimented

I used to love this stuff, it was a 10/10. I had this about a decade ago and it was so strong. I always wanted to buy another bottle but never got around to it. I just bought it again recently, sprayed on my arm and it’s still good. Unfortunately, not as strong or complex as it used to be. I don’t get as much vanilla anymore though unfortunately. I would say it’s a little more versatile due to reformulation than in the past - this could even work in a warmer climate now. It used to be a bomb that verged on cloying even with just 2 sprays. The DNA is so popular that I’m pretty sure a toilet cleaner product I’ve used smells very similar to the opening, which takes away a little of the appeal. Not a safe blind buy anymore! I still like Le Male, but more due to nostalgia at this point. There are many better options out there. I would not rebuy. It’s hard to tell if my change of opinion is due to the fact that I’ve since smelled better scents out there, the popularly of the scent has influenced all manner of scented products or reformulation (or possibly all three). 5/10.

"Dad scent" and "outdated",...gtfoh

This is one of MFKs first creations, landing him on the map as one of the greats along with Albert Morillas, Dominique Ropion, Jacques Polge, Jacques Cavallier...look it up

One of the most iconic fragrances of all time and for good reason...it continues to impress

Has it been reformulated and neutered...yes...but what fragrance hasnt that is this popular? Theres a reason this has a million flankers to this day...this and L'eau D'Issey...they endure the test of time

Nostalgic? Absolutely...does it envoke smelling like an old man? Hell no...get yalls nose on the powerhouse movement of the 70s and 80s

If youre serious about your fragrances, this will always be in your collection

Am I the only one who gets the same sense of masculinity from this cologne with Grand Soir? Maybe the lavender, vanilla, and cinnamon notes evoke the same feelings.

I got le male 2012 batch 75ml ml bottle for 49 dollars. Is it a good deal?

benlippi

Dated and nauseating

cameron346632

top note is extremely outdated with the mint and lavender mix but with that vanilla and sweet dry-down this fragrance definitely competes with the flankers
i can describe the dry down as a heavy vanilla with an undertone of lavender and amber incredibly versatile fragrance and wouldn't offend anyone

price 10/10
longevity 7/10
smell 8/10

So good. I did not like this at first, but damn! This stuff got so good. I had to wear it a couple times, so I can like it and now its my signature. Amazing. Definitely get it.

This smells like a dad. No kidding this smells like many dads, you'd know instantly from the fougere-like aroma thats so commonly smelt on older men colognes.

This is a powdery, vanilla, fresh out the shower fragrance and it still smell good today and performs well, but since this scent profile is so familiar among older men and dads it's hard to fall in love with it if you are younger. It might not be a “attention-grabber” but you'll still smell fresh, clean. Presentable.

Noblindbuyspls

Excellent longevity. Wasn't impressed by the initial scent until the dry down. Then it became so smooth and creamy lasting and projecting for days on clothes. In terms of sillage I can't tell yet but it lasts so long I don't think I need to worry about it. Lastly, the vanilla note in this just smells divine I'm truly impressed by this fragrance.

This will be one of my favorite designer fragrances for the rest of time.

Le Male was my dad's signature scent for the first 16 or so years of my life. I will always attribute this scent to the amazing and wonderful times I've had with him and the great times to come. This scent is an actual walking example of why wearing perfume/having a signature scent can leave a lasting impact on a person.

As to the scent, excluding the nostalgia, there is a reason this has been popular for so long. This is a masterpiece. A wonderful smooth and clean lavender, spicy cardamom, bright and zesty bergamot, and a top of mint start off this scent. This opening is so clean yet so so sexy, a mini fougere that will stand the test of time. I attribute my love for lavender to this scent, that's how good this opening is. The opening slightly sweetened by this roasted tonka bean and vanilla mix, drying down sweeter and sweeter but never venturing into the typical sweet territory that many other modern designer fragrances go. The cinnamon beginning to peak its head as the cedar and sandalwood mix with the opening to create this wonderful ambrosia of sexy-ness. Then finally drying down to a super smooth mixture of all of the base notes with this slight green lavender twinge (like the stem of the lavender plant if you've ever smelled that).

This is by no means an older mans scent, any man of any age can rock this.

Please. If you are at all interested in Le Male, so many retail stores carry it: TRY IT. This is amazing.

Sugar daddy fragrance..

The classic, you cant go wrong with it! Of course, the flankers in the Le Male series are better but they wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the original. A light and fresh scent with powdery yet spicy undertones. Although vanilla is in this fragrance, I don’t really get that note. I get a lavender mint rush with a little bit of fresh spiciness. Surprisingly, this doesn’t have any aquatic notes but I would believe it if it did. While Le Male is a classic, it’s also not as unique cause these days you can find deodorants with the same kinda smell.

The longevity is also as expected with 3-5 hours, typical for Eau De Toilettes.

Maoe2212

Pretty good, the perfume is more for older men (25+) but someone under that age could also use it, but as always dont blind buy, smell is a very personal thing, and what i think is good might not apply to you, so find it and smell it before you buy it.

Maoe2212

A good perfume that you can use for a lot of stuff, though it is better for nighttime, beautifully made perfume that was and partially is unique. Just a solid perfume, a little bit more for 25+ but you could also use it under that age, but as allways, dont blindbuy, smell it before you buy, as i know some people dont love it.

Ralph01478

Take this or leave it. I have many high end frangrance but this frangrance screams class in a gentle way…… I will always have this as my signature. JPG please amp up the strength again and increase the price , we will pay for it, this will always turn heads!

SmellFragDaily

A classic fragrance that her Daddy wore in the 90s, but not always a bad thing haha. I bought this fragrance on offer and I don’t regret it whatsoever. Unfortunately because it’s such a popular fragrance people won’t ask what you’re wearing because they already know. It has such a distinct & unique smell that is amazing to some but I definitely think this fragrance is more for older men (30+). There’s so many better modern fragrances now that make this look like the grandpa.

boffin1979

I stole some sprays from my eldest baby son (17yo) whom I gifted it to about 5 years ago. He likes it on me and I finally got a compliment from my wife. I don’t detect any vanilla or tonka. Maybe it’s the cushiony softness that can be attributed to the vanilla aspect. This is easily becoming my new dumb reach for the office.

GioiaVerratti

Not for me, kinda 'Meh,' but I do understand its significance in perfume history. It's kinda in the transition from the classic old-school men's fougeres to the sweet gourmands of today

molnargege

This is a classic and very great scent. I guess it has been reformulated so many times in the past years, as Sauvage or Creed, but it still stands out from the crowd in my opinion. I had a batch from this, and the first impression is raw sex for me when I spray it on. It's just too good.

villiruusut

The few times I've tried getting a whiff of the modern JPG perfume formulations, they've given me a headache so I haven't been able to stick around long enough to sit with the fragrances. So this one is based on a 2005 mini.

Soapy, spicy, and warm. The artemisia lends a little medicinal touch to the scent but still enjoyable. I actually find it quite unisex. A little softer than the standard perfumes marketed to men but 100% approachable.

SAMPSODX

The original formulation was groundbreaking and ther performance was unreal.

Over the years this has been reformulated and it smells synthetic, and doesn’t perform like it used too.

Now Le Male Le Parfum, that is gorgeous! Grab it before that’s reformulated also.

jbozz

I’m old enough to remember the original 1990’s powerhouse formulation of this stuff, it was the first fragrance I can remember which made a huge statement and in an ultra sexy way. It was amazing and I miss it. The new Elixir does recapture some of that magic but with a modern twist. That said, I just picked up a 2020 batch of the classic Le Male, and the vibe of the original is still there but is now a toned down and much softer scent. I have to admit it’s very pleasant and actually reminds me of an old school barbershop with that lavender. Almost shaving cream like at times. It’s definitely no longer the clubbing scent it once was, but is now made to be enjoyed casually, and I find the drydown to be very comforting and even a little nostalgic. This definitely still has a place in today’s world and it will always have a spot in the fragrance hall of fame as far as I’m concerned.

Kyely

This is a manly sent, but this is not a typical manly sent as in citrusy a.m. aquatic. This is a creamy vanilla scent when I first smell it I didn’t like it, but the tree down is actually really creamy and nice.
