Sad this one got TikTokified but I still rock this confidently, since it’s masterpiece and one of the best fragrances I’ve smelled to date

I tried it at a store last year for the first time. When the sales person sprayed it on my arm, I could feel a burning sensation for 15-20 seconds, she said it was due to strong potency and chemicals. It smelled bold and lasted for 36hours with two showers ! Or, maybe it was just such a new scent profile for me that I could get smell it on the skin even after two showers. I quite liked the smell and was drawn to it. Lately I ordered a decant sample, this smelled terrible and almost like medicine gone bad. If the decant is original, I feel the quality/batches has changed drastically, however, without arriving at the conclusion, I will again try it at a store to be sure.

One of my favorite Fragrances its defenetly not a blind buy but if you like heavy, dark and smoky perfumes then will like this.

If I had to describe this in a few words I'd say minty, green, smoky wood.
Very dark but wearable anyway, it starts off with this almost mentholated green note which I assume is cannabis on top of smoke and wood, the herbal accord doesn't last for long but it does add another layer to the smell, after a few hours the amber starts to come forth making the fragrance surprisingly sweet compared to it's opening and early drydown, not so linear but the recognizable strong burning wood is strong throughout. So mysterious and enigmatic, its sensual, dirty and dark.

Mr. Blinx

Spare this one for special ocasions, very dark, potent, mysterious. Extremely strong and long lasting, you will make a statement with this one, people will smell this one on you, just be very confident wearing it. Overall beautiful scent for night out, highly recommend it

OnlyGodKnowsimGood

I was so desperate to love this. it seemed so sexy in theory but it really isn’t for everyone and can easily wear the person instead of the person wearing it, perhaps there is charm in this. It’s exclusive.
it’s a heavy scent and smells of a man who has felt a bullet pierce his throat. a man who knows the taste of blood.
an intense green that eventually dries down to tobacco and smoke and eventually it’s soapy… I don’t love it on me at all but I would appreciate it on the right person. definitely thought provoking because I couldn’t stop thinking about for days now.

Swore

Listen to Xavier by Dead can Dance, pretty perfect sonic interpretation of this scent.

Gothic, crushing, nostalgic, beautiful, painful.

Everything comes together into one thing, beautiful and lonely.

4C

This fragrance is unlike anything else. It was much more pleasant and wearable than I was expecting, I wouldn't really call it niche. The cannabis note is very faint and mostly lingers around in the opening. It is surprisingly sweet, but mantains this dark and holy vibe to it. If you've ever watched Cowboy Bebop, this fragrance has the exact same vibe as that scene in front of the church stained glass.

Darkstar _ Destroyer

I don't find this especially challenging, if worn at the appropriate times. This fragrance seems to elicit a sense of melancholy, due to the darkness of the vetiver and the depth of the woodiness from the agarwood. Also, a bit of what some describe as "church style" incense in the drydown.

Black Afgano seems custom made for overcast, gloomy days with a hot cup of coffee and a warm fire in the hearth. The same days you might reach for "Encre Noire a la Extreme".

Overall, a nice woody scent that, at least for me, doesn't remind me of hashish in any way. I think that is mainly a product of marketing. Great scent, even without the hype.

JaySentz

The cannabis is more like the incense that you might smell in a head shop, which is to say kind of reminiscent of cannabis, but not really. Not a bad thing though as I really like the green incense paired with oud it is really growing on me and is unique enough that I am considering a full bottle.

oakfrag1346

My friend owns this fragrance it’s very strong and heavy. 😍

kiep

shit is not unisex, very manly. the projection on this perfume is insane. I spray about 6-7 sprays on myself for school and shit lasts me to the end of the day with beast projection. 10/10

weazal

Applies surprisingly dense, thick vetiver. Soapy green top note buried under dark, muddy coffee.

Oud is warmly sweet like amber/vanilla, but animalistic streak is grimace-inducing skanky salty sour. Not attracted to sweaty b.o. and this isn’t helping. Smells like urine and ash.

Dry down of warm vetiver and incense helps balance edgy/unpalatable tangy funk. Never had a fragrance elicit such a “gross” response. Not bad, but challenging and for a niche audience.

obeyluke

Forget a "dark and mysterious villain era" - this smells like an old Middle Eastern man's ass sweat with an overbearing note of sickly sweet raisins and horseradish. It doesn't command authority or charisma or even have an interestingly polarizing take on using cannabis - there is no cannabis to pick up fr. I was disappointed, but luckily, I only got a smaller sample. I am so sorry if you did not, as I don't think you can even wear it in public in any respectable culture. Save it for when you want to feel musty on your off days or when you visit your grandparents, whose nostrils are prolly already burned out. For the love of God, don't wear this on dates. There ain't no women who want the impression you've been wearing the same pair of underwear for the last five years, and it's been stinking you up.

thee_argus

For all that the internet and a lot of TikTok has to say about this, this is extremely palatable and wearable and is not as out there as it's made out to be. You can call me a niche warrior, but I wear only black, war metal band shirts, and camo 75% of the time so if I walked past you looking how I do wearing Ultra Male I feel like it would be somewhat bizarre.

I wouldn't describe this as dark as people make it out to be. It is dark, but there is a richness and smoothness that give me vibes of stumbling upon a burnt down cabin at sunset. And speaking of burnt down, this is very reminiscent of Terroni, which isn't bad at all because Terroni is fucking mind-blowingly amazing. There is an earth sweetness to it instead of the raspberry you get from Terroni that instead comes from this resinous tobacco and coffee. There is not a lot of "greenness" to this, or at least it hasn't shown up for me yet.

This thing is POTENT, I accidentally got a drop from my sample vial on a paper towel in the back of house at work and within 20 minutes my coworker came out and complained about it. This 0.7ml is gonna last me a while. As with all niche get a sample before purchasing. This isn't some crazy and out there niche fragrance that the people who make TikTok slideshows who haven't even smelled this make it out to be. It's a beautiful, warm, woody, smoky and earthy oud that I will likely buy a full bottle of.

And no it doesn't smell like a blunt.

potatotus

Very dark fragrance, insane lasting power, and crazy sillage.

I absolutely adore this fragrance, nothing in my collection comes close to it, as time goes on the smell becomes darker and more deep.

10/10

thefragrancelover33

This fragrance is very dark and smoky. My friend thinks it's too strong and smells like shit, he is a pussy. I like this very much and don't agree with my friend b coz he is a hater

ginandrice

This definitely smells like something an urban demon would wear; dark and enthralling. It's a stranger with a knowing smile and a strong grip, leading you down numerous black-lit hallways at the underground rave; pulling you deeper into the strobing labyrinth of the building, to where the real fun is.

Predominantly, I get inky black tonka and spiced black rum, atop a base of dark, leathery tobacco. It's equal parts dry and resinous. There's also an underlying hint of leaf-green scent that's not fresh and vital, but not desiccated either; just funky and muted.

Black Afgano is definitely dark (a little wicked), but at the same time it's surprisingly smooth and sweet. Considerably more enjoyable than I was expecting, honestly. There's a round, vanillic sweetness here that's very dark; mulchy and malty. It's kind of plastic-y actually, in a dark, seductive sort of way.

bamba21

dream blunt rotation

fatiher123

It's a perfect scent, but it's very long-lasting. I sprayed 1 spray on my arms and even though I took a shower, the scent didn't come off, so it's not a scent that can be used every day.

etoblef

I invite you to see what perfume looked like 10 years ago https://youtu.be/swjzaPoQHhg

avantcoffee

Definite villain era fragrance. Very deep and dark, and seductive in a way that's ominous, animalistic and mysterious.

Not gonna lie I find this hard to pull off on myself usually in public, just because it's SO provocative, but I have a full bottle because I love smelling it on myself when on my own. To me, it represents a part of myself that's usually kept hidden from others - which is fitting for the mystery of the fragrance, yet wearing it - even just for my nose only - acknowledges a source of power anchored within myself. For those in the know of astrology, I'm mainly thinking Mars square Pluto or Lilith type of energy.

Love when a niche fragrance can represent a niche part of me lmao :') Anyways, it's not for everyone, or even for every setting ~ but a fragrance can be whatever it wants to be, and, for me, Black Afgano happens to be more psychologically understanding than practical.

Ground hound

Well-layered, warm, deep and dark.
A slightly balsamic opening, once it settles, there is a whirlpool of notes from fresh timber to sweet, almost decaying animalistic suede.
Good quality oud, a light tobacco note. Not that much smoke, more of a a touch of a timber of smoked bourbon barrel (I guess Nasomatto made the boozy Baraonda too), rather that a burning pine log. No coffee, no cannabis, if we are talking real smells and not made up ones. Tasteful resin, not churchy, not bitter. A black pit of cooking darkness with a green balsamic (but not too cloying) vapor above.
Overall- a very good perfume, interesting, deep, notes spiraling up and down, well-composed.

Henrik225

really, really love this fragrance. It's my second niche and it's perfect for me as it's dark and very grounding. I love it for the day and the night even though the reviews are leaning towards night. very unique smelling, and I definitely smell the cannabis and green notes, but not so much tobacco. On the dry down it strongly reminds me of incense and an old chest that's been sitting in your attic for a long time with the fragrance inside, and when you open the chest it's woody but has that smell from before.

Dmiddy

Over-hyped for me. I love the bottle design but the juice is not THAT exciting when compared to the dozens of other indie smoke scents out there. That said, there are other gorgeous scents in this line that deserve more time in the spotlight.

St.0cky

Lmao bro said unwashed anus 💀💀

faddyie

I got a decant of Black Afghano. My immediate reaction after applying it was that it reminded me of Amouage Fate. I do detect tobacco in the opening, but it is also heavy on herbs and balsams, similar to Amouage Fate. I will edit this review if I notice any changes. I'm glad I didn't purchase the full bottle. The funny part is that the day I sold my full bottle of Amouage Fate, I received the decant of Black Afghano. It's a pass for me.

AmrNabil97

I swear whenever I smell this perfume anywhere, I just gag and feel like vomiting, dizzy, nauseating feeling.. and I cant accept this odd disgusting scent.

Daddy_longlegs

Honestly it smells like unwashed Anus . I've tried a lot of difficult perfumes but I just couldn't digest this smell .the note of tobacco is sour , almost rotting and I couldn't smell cannabis at all. I know it's an artisanal scent but damn. .it stinks . Can't wrap my head around it at all. Too Polarising for me

Zaff

My first fragrance like this type, and i fell in love with it! It's dark and mysterious, full of masculinity in a bottle. It's this dark and masculine yet not giving me a headache. Not for everyones taste but definitely try this one!

mundine

don't know if people are bsing being able to pick out notes in this when it's very obviously a chemical weapon (and that's fine)

sidesalad

My deep obsessive love of another fragrance in the Nassomato range led me here. But never before have I wanted to physically cut off a limb to escape the pentrating aroma of such a hefty, suffocating intoxicant. An oily, sleazy, omnious cloud that refuses to let you forget.

zm3

extremely masculine, animalic fragrance. i dont get any of the notes mentioned. definitely a winter beast

PsychedBunny

Not for me. Smells like a shady guy selling in the red light district. Not sophisticated nor classy.

camwilo

Black afghano, yet another artisanal creation by perfumer Alessandro Gualtieri, has unsurprisingly left me speechless upon initial smell. Upon spraying, you are blasted with dark woods coupled with oud and a heavy tobacco. This fragrance brings you to a dark, barren and unforgiving wasteland with it's immense and powerful scent profile. It opens with leafy woods, made more apparent by the cannabis top note which then refines into a masterfully blended concoction of eerie and mysterious woods. I visualize a foggy forest at 4am in the morning, where it is too early to be bright and you are left with the foggy and vague shadows of the forest. I imagine it has just rained which is bringing out the contrasting leafy scent. To be able to pull of this fragrance, the wearer must emit an aura of darkness and mystery, coupled with a gothic temperament. I believe if you are not subject to these standards the piercing vastness of this fragrance will overwhelm the wearer and consume them, making the fragrance rather wear them. In conclusion, the dark woods coupled with a plethora of resins subjects the wearer to a truly unique experience, and the smoky incense only adds to the allure.

KokuBombasi

Nova789K!

Got a decant of this and really OK for me. Maybe got to wear it out one day to experience what’s going on here. Have had a dupe for a year now of Black Afgano and like it better.

hihero

Dark, smokey, incense and tobacco with a hint of greenery held together by alluring amber resins.

It's what I was expecting & I'm happy with what I got. I didn't detect any sweetness and that's how I like it.

I wouldn't rate this as eternal or fills a room for siage but it's powerful long lasting and announces you within 2-3 meters. Definitely not Unisex in my mind. I do not want to smell this on a woman. Don't get me wrong I rated that I love this scent but I associate scent with locations, scenarios and attire and no suitable location or attire come to mind that suits a woman except maybe a funeral or in a burqa.

In all seriousness this is a man in a cigar club, around a poker table or in a mob boss meeting calling the shots. More realistically if you're not wearing a jacket or blazer then this fragrance is wearing you.

solulszabolcs

Characteristic scent. Not for everyone. It's not for me, for example.

twoski

This is a beautiful perfume. I was worried it would lean masculine but in my opinion this is fairly gender neutral. It's not the most femme leaning gender neutral frag ever, so for that reason i'd say it's not a safe blind buy.

The labdanum in this amber is very pronounced. Paired with the tobacco you get this sort of purple, sweet tone in the amber that almost makes me think of dried fruit like plum. There's some kind of vanilla aspect sweetening the resins. The scent is thick and sticky, there's something here that almost makes me think of molasses blended with licorice.

The coffee, oud and smoke notes play a part, but this is far from being an animalic oud. The ambery resins get to be the star of the show, with everything else backing them up.

I don't honestly get a ton of cannabis. There is this distinct funk to the composition but it's so tame that i wouldn't say it makes it a hugely controversial fragrance.

If you love deep, dark, seductive, mysterious ambers then you need this. The note breakdown is a little misleading, i think. It certainly made this a risky blind buy for me, but i feel that it has paid off in this case.

RayCashhhh

Dark, mysterious, seductive. Loud and brash, yet still refined and classy. Normally I gravitate towards sweeter fragrances, especially in the colder months, but Black Afgano is a welcome departure from that. I've had this for about two years now and finally got around to reviewing it. I don't have anything else in my collection that smells like this. There's weed in it for sure, but it's not dirty or off-putting, just very fresh and zingy. It's so well blended that I can't really tell if it's the tobacco, oud, incense or coffee that I'm smelling, but it all smells good. I've gotten compliments from men and women while wearing this. This is beast mode; it will last on your hoodie for days and even if you spray something on your body, BA will be what people pick up on. The only complaint, if you could call it that, is that it might be too beast mode. 1-2 sprays MAX is all you need for the day, especially around others. Please don't wear this in the heat either, this is best reserved for the cold weather. Black-tie event or just out running errands, Black Afgano is a go-to for me. 9.5/10

[email protected]

Blind buy and I am absolutely not disappointed . I was worry about “ masculine “ touch but not. Is really sensual, sweet but elegant, dark but cozy. Amazing. Tobacco notes really nice , can’t smell cannabis . I can tell u , u gonna be addict in this!

albertguy

dark and almost sensual and repulsive somehow. love it. i kind of want it.

MoonGirl22

Very incense-like intense perfume, dark and mysterious. I really love it. It stays forever on my skin and even longer on my hair and clothes.

Patj1994

Smells like a hippy’s taint

Azizialmajid

Just Blind bought this, I absolutely love the smell. However, I feel that this one is quiet similar with TF Black Orchid. It is not the same but similar, it’s like Black Orchid infused in oud minus vanilla and floral notes.

Green, Incense, oriental, and earthy.

Longevity is great, projection is enough.

In smell wise I love it, but feels redundant to have it with Black orchid in the shelf, both are dark, dirty, and sexy. That is for now, I will try to compare them again. My nose might be wrong 🤪

Pikey Mick

If you know what squidgy black hashish is then this fragrance has a good helping. I get coffee, incense, ambroxan, iso-E super, amber and a good healthy dose of medicinal, skanky-ish oud. I have had a craving for a dark oudy fragrance because I have so many oud/rose/vanilla combo's that it's getting a bit boring and so I bought this, Resala and Pardon. Out of the three this one has grabbed my interest most. I wear perfume that I enjoy and I don't care if others don't.
By the way, I'm not a big fan of ambroxan - I have nothing to prove, and here it is treated very gently and effectively.
Overall, this will probably be my winter signature. Not a blind buy unless you have a penchant for dangerous hobbies /liaisons. Get a sample and double dare yourself. F*ck boys don't bother, it might shatter your fragile egos!

Duci0167

The most important thing - is this reformulated? Just tried it ... it's hitting like a hammer! Outside use only! People convinced me it's reformulated, it's a skin scent but noooo!

calamusdraco4

This is a skin scent now, tough one to swallow but trust me. That’s why I sold my bottle, the formula has changed. Keep reading through the comments and you’ll see.

ahmedov

from the first spray you will confuse if it's stinky or you're gonna love it >> weird frag but after dry down settle on oud

DON'T blind buy !

HypeMan

The perfect combination of sexy and disgusting, alluring but appauling, intriguing yet intrusive. If you’re catching my drift this fragrance is divisive, as are quite a few of Gualtieri’s more potent concoctions. That’s not to say it shouldn’t be purchased, but that if you blind buy this everyone will see you as a fool soon parted from their money.

That waft of sticky sweet resin, trailed by a wall of smoke and incense, lightly accented with an herbaceous aromatic touch, some will want to vomit and some will start floating towards you like a cartoon character to a freshly baked pie. I’ve heard many comparisons made to this fragrance: Finger hash, unwashed ass, smokey black ink, etc. the imagery of this fragrance changes from person to person. If I were to describe this scent without imagery it would be dark, resinous, and smokey, with a non intrusive musk. Make up whatever imagery you’d like those will be the 4 most prevalent factors of the fragrance, and if those intrigue you at all… sample!

This is also not something you use liberally, 1 1/2-2 sprays is my personal max. Don’t listen to anyone who says this quickly becomes a skin scent, which do you think is more likely: someone unknowingly developing anosmia towards an extremely potent fragrance, or a fragrance known to last upwards of 2 days losing all sillage and projection in a matter of hours? Take your pick

Overall this is an amazing night life fragrance, those who hate it despise it, those who like it love it. Make your own opinion, get the opinion of other people in your life, and DO. NOT. BLIND. BUY. that’s the one thing I want you to get out of this review. A 2ml sample will last you more than long enough to form a full opinion.

ecllamalover

Sweet, toasted ambrette CO2 to me; high quality and very pleasant. There’s just enough of a cannabis accord and a resinous amber edge that gives me chilly-and-rainy-Tokyo-evening-in-November gentleman vibes. A safe (does not have the true green skankiness of hashish) yet still intriguing/sexy masculine scent. Could get a little more ‘dangerous’ mixing with natural BO.

Mezbah Sohan

Opening is little challenging but at the dry down, after 20/30 minutes it's similar to Terroni on my skin...

Esna

Epic forever. Iconic and unsurpassed masculine fragrance. Not for soy boys nor club punk crybabies.

MSKMAN

Black Afgano is one of the most safely unique scent profiles available, allow me to explain. The fragrance incorporates some controversial accords, but it doesn't smell offensive or repulsive. The scent opens up with fuzzy warmth and almost an inky-like quality and lasts throughout the duration of the fragrance. The scent profile is somewhat linear, with the exception of some subtle changes in the detection of agarwood in this fragrance, but other than that the fragrance is extremely well-blended and very cohesive. Performance is phenomenal due to it being extremely concentrated, my recent wear it was detectable on the skin for 20 hours plus.

vtzd

Does not remind me of hashish or cannabis at all, but wow, what an amazing scent!
It's eternal, and keeps me constantly wanting more of it. Amazingly complex and dark, but in a sophisticated way

MeguminLikesExplosives

It seems modern formulations affect every single bottle perfume these days in terms of longevity and projection or it's just my skin swallowing up fragrance..
But that aside! I love love love black afgano, one of the most unique intoxicating scents i have ever smelled for rainy cold days or just for your own relaxation ❤😋

I am slowly becoming a nasomatto fanboy not gonna lie, love black agano, china white, pardon and duro..i wanna try all the rest now

Detman101

This fragrance is a memory...good times...someone I used to be.
Sadly, I can't be this person anymore...or wear this fragrance.
I keep a small sample of it in my collection to spray every now and then...
To remember back when life was about living...not dying.

Hvid Gut

This stuff smells great.

Dark, smoky, dirty oud, woody, canabis with a little coffee.

A little funny sweetness that is very welcome.

Smells like you're sitting outside your cabin in a forest smoking a joint while drinking a coffee.

It is a perfume you have to be in the Mood for.

Lasts 8 - 9 hours with a strong to moderate projection.

just a really good artistic perfume 9.6/10

vnttj_144

Evil. An ominous cloud. You ate a strong edible or took a fat bong rip and now you’re seeing demons, greening out, and throwing up afterwards. This is that in a bottle.

Smoky, balsamic, burnt, oily, tar, incense, animalic, skunky, dirty, fruity, deep, dark, complex, mysterious, brave, penetrating, enveloping.

There is a touch of sweetness in the background, but don’t be fooled by this sinister sweet poison. In the dry down the oud comes out to play. Its’ name is Pong and it’s a dirty creature taking the form of a sewer fatberg.

It’s a badass creation that is polarising at first but once you make friends (if you’re brave enough) with this demon you’ll keep coming back lured and entranced. When I wear this I'd be afraid to step into a church save myself from speaking in tongues and combusting into flames. Black Afgano is what makes perfumery an exciting artistic experience.

Whateverwhocares

Dark amberous, unisex and smokey. Jammy cannabinoid incense and a smooth oud accord. Harmonic blending.

Befitting a dark haired chick wearing long ankle boots with lots of buckles and braces. Red lipstick? Check.💄✅

I see a self described goth 🦇 wearing a leather duster. He has long hair and an Interview with the Vampire, Brad Pitt complex. $180 a bottle? Easy there, Lestat. Anyway, this is good, creature of the night type stuff. Bring out the leather jacket and the fangs. 😁

SaltyPopsicle

This is Stephane Humbert Lucas’ Black Gemstone’s older and more mysterious sister. She’s dark, sexy, unisex and not for faint of heart. You know how not everyone can pull off wearing a hat? This is not for everyone. This is giving art curator with bougie bijou apartments (and lovers) on multiple continents. 10/10 all categories.

Jafer16

Dark, strong and beastly . Awesome

NiTrOz

Love it, love it! This is >The Scent< omg...the opening! but it needs 15-20 mins to settle down tho,...gourmand, candylike haha, the cannabis is Amazing. Then after 3-4h it settles another level to the most amazing dark woody frags out there,...goood damn...but its more masculine (not as unisex as I thought) It´s fab. But all and all, I have now bought a full bottle of this after 2 different companys samples -Cuz u never now its a scam copy, right? I guess they were diluted because the full original bottle is much more potent.<3<3<3
I don´t get ppls reaction that it´s Brutal..This is beautiful.
It´s not a Screeming attention perfume.... but it sure gets a smooth trail behind you
Same with this as in my review for Fahrenheit Le Parfum; "The last hours of the drydown >on skin< I don´t know if its my skintype but I get an almost sour, dirty, wet and salty Tobacco scent." it´s also cool and different

I have seen GC/MS analysis offered by group of Labtorium Formulas of Black Afgano and Fortis by Les Liquides Imaginaires - I have a very interesting thing to say about these two perfumes. I personally own 5 ml. sample of Fortis. This is not my style, however, I find this fragrance to be very sophisticated.

I guess, that one perfumer decided to share a formula from one of these brands and that's why we can create a version of this sort of olfactive profile. Sometimes I think about a thing that perfumers actually share some of the formulas between each other. Other perfumers make modifications and twist the same formula chemically to receive a slightly different olfactive profile and this is how projects for different brands are made. xD

To be short, Black Afgano by Gualtieri and Fortis by Givaudan (perfumer Sonia Constant) are actually extremely similar formulations chemically. 107 raw materials were used in construction of Black Afgano, the majority of them build Fortis (this formula is almost the same, but shorter). The same things were used in both perfumes, Fortis was twisted and the percentages of different aroma-chemicals were changed. When I saw the ingredients, I was literally shocked how marketing really makes us so naive.

Black Afgano

A primarily aroma-chemicals based formulation. Monstrous sillage and projection. I have been always thinking about this, how does Gualtieri achieve that. This is built upon loads of Iso E Super and Ambroxan. Some of macrocyclic Musks like Muscone, Ambrettolide, Ethylene Brassylete (small amounts) Globanone and Ambretone were used, lots of Cedarwood raw materials, Sandalwood even more! - Polysantol, Ebanol and others are in very high amount. Javanol is 7,66% of the formula, expansive amber like Timberol was 15,29% - this is mind-blowing. There are also some Pinenes and constituents of Gurjan Balsam EO. I was very surprised, when I saw very high percentages of Alfa-Isomethyl-Ionone in both of them. (3-4%) I am curious how it changed the formula. I would never guess it is there. Ionones have very powdery, clean, violet like, raspberry like smell xD, Ambrettolide smells very clean, cold, crisp and berry like. Crazy thing...
Javanol in Fortis covers 10,65%...

This is extremely interesting that both perfumes, regarding aroma-chemicals, are Cedarwood-Sandalwood oriented perfumes. This was just a chemical analysis, so I have no idea which naturals were used, but some were used for sure, at least in Fortis, in my opinion.

Both are very reserved, elegant, stylish and modern perfumes in short. People who like heavy oriental perfumery will appreciate this, for sure. Dryness, very potent spicy and woody qualities, smoothness.

The hard cannabis mentioned in the opening opens with a very clearly wet and green smell. Afterwards, a dark tone of sweetness takes its place, the amber effect quickly takes over the smell in a sweet way. In the middle and last stages, incense dominates, especially at the end of the day, very strong smoke is burnt. The feeling and green notes all make a combo. In general, it is a very nice scent that not everyone has, it can be worn day and night. Frankly, I did not receive any positive compliments :) I said this for those who care, otherwise I liked this scent, I don't care about the rest.

poltergeist

Heven't smelled the o.g. but I got Blend Afgano from Paris Corner and it's a banger. I get quite a dark, boozy licorice with just the right amount of sweetness. It smells very similar to Hindu Kush by Mancera. These two layer extremely well together on my clothing.

AP Riyadh

Dark, mysterious, resinous, slightly sweet incense amber with a green note.
Blended to perfection and the scent profile might put you in a calm but contemplative mood.
Great for evening wear and for me the image of reading a book late evening infront of a crackling fireplace come to mind as the occasion for wearing this.
Excellent longevity with modest sillage.
2 sprays are enough.

Saliva, Rain, & Cement on a cool Halloween night with bats above you.

cassiozambotto

medicinal non-animalic oud, weirdly non-hot sweet resins, misterious very dark & smoky, subtle green-ness.

this one is the goth/dawn/darker brother of tom ford's oud wood.

what surprised me the most is the performance, very well behaved and elegant, not a bomb at all.

very counter-intuitive composition, I really love this.

Goat Scents

I’ve got a slightly used bottle if anyone is interested. Please message me.

Uglylucy7

Edit: was testing at home and then tested in the niche perfumery I frequent.

In house it dried down to a scent I can only describe as play doh. I think my home tester is the reformulated version (if that theory is true) and what in the perfumery is the original. They can’t possibly be the same

KillFox

I hyped this one up in my head so much.

It's interesting, for sure. I wanted to love it. The weird thing is I keep wanting to smell it; I've gone back to the sample I have again. I do not like black licorice and I kept getting that at first try. It felt like black licorice done well. I still do not like black licorice so I disliked Black Afgano.

Crazy Nose.

It could be the depth of smokiness and pure smell of darkness that compelled me to throw the sample on my forearm again.

Definitely not a blind buy. I think some day I will love it, when I am older or more matured.

It's Nasomatto, so of course it's Sillage and Longevity is brilliant.

bygcoolrr44

Wow! This is a powerful scent. Incensey, roasted coffee, smoke, hint of blackberry, resinous, and herbs (I smell a hint of cannabis). This is definitely a fall evening to winter scent. Very dark and mysterious feeling. I feel like I'm in a gothic cathedral of some sort or some sacred place where you want to meditate. This scent is not for everyone. I would spray conservatively. Powerful. 2-3 sprays max. Do I like it? Yes. Would I gift this to someone? No. Possibly polarizing. Definitely unique. For the price you pay and it's power, I think the price is justified. I picture myself wearing this during church services in the winter.

Suncica7

This perfume reminds me of Just Rock, Zadig.
literally, less milky more whiskey kind of a thing, and dirty and amazing, it smells like danger.
It smells like a girl with issues, like a player, like a Badgal, it smells like some work to be done and healed, but not caring bout it, coz she is just enjoying her playful fast life, sex appeal, destinations and parties, dangerous woman.

amudrechenko

This is on my wishlist! Such a strong beautiful and unique fragrance. The oud here is dark, smoky, but is not infected like the one in oud palao by diptyque. This oud is different. It’s unique, incense-heavy (but not church leaning), spicy, ambery and very oily! I do detect some green notes but only lightly. This is such a masterpiece! It’s on my list to buy!

Girolamo

Not just your regular amber. This is smoky, woody, with hints of damp cannabis green on top of its resinous core. May smell fecal to some because of the oud, but to me it's barely noticeable. If you expect churchy vibes from the incense, you should look into some of Filippo Sorcinelli's creations instead because this is not what you're looking for.

It's hard to capture this scent in words. Imagine if you will being a CIA operative in the 1970s cutting deals with Mexican or Colombian marijuana cartels to fund far-right paramilitaries against communist guerillas. The shock value of Amouage Interlude Man is nothing compared to this, which either suits itself to be timidly worn at home for all the "I wear fragrance for myself" aficionados out there, or instead you dress it up and wear it to a boardroom meeting to add some olfactory oomph to your aggressive negotiations.

Don't blind buy this, at roughly €100 for 30ml it's highly recommended sampling this first.

sabertooth_salem

This smells like if amber and oud had a teenage child with an awful attitude and anger issues that sits in their room smoking hash and burning incense all day.

Opens as a resinous amber bomb. Then mainly incense and oud. Over time, a bit of cannabis comes through but the oud, incense, and amber remain the dominant notes for me.

I really wanted to love this one. Something about the bottle, name, and the reputation really appealed to me. Unfortunately, this edgy little number was too much for me. There's still something that I like about it though, in all its anger and brooding, and I feel like the right person could definitely pull it off. It's a fragrance with something to say, meant for someone who wants to make a statement.

FragrantMatty

My bottle is several years old; super strong, nauseating if sprayed more than 2-3 times. There's some green aromatics in the opening but are short lived. Turns to soft powder with leather and a fuel/kerosene kind of sensation. Like a bottle of baby-powder stored in a tar-black purse. Longevity is crazy although sillage can be close at times. I like the bottle and keep it mostly for that, I rarely ever wear it. It's kind of like a super-extremly concentrated Versace Oud Noire.

Edit: Thinking the powderiness might be similar to Molinard Oud Magnétique I got out my bottle to compare. A few strange things happened; I experienced some anosmia towards the Black Afgano and the Oud Magnétique became fruity and floral like ylang. Smelling them back and forth makes them keep playing tricks; Neat 🤓

Einius

Reminds me of a hash browney that i kept in my pocket during summer, but it still smells amazing. 9.4/10

HappyLucky

Maybe it is my nose - but this one got reformulated recently.
It is a new scent now. No shiny evocative smokiness.
Very green now, some people smell oranges in it.

Uglylucy7

I’ve got Nudiflorum, Barronda, China White and Pardon. I’ve been testing Black Afgano this week. I’m surprised how tame it is. On my skin it smells green (no overwhelming cannabis note) and then it softens into woody incense with a whiff of sweetness. It smells…nice?

I thought it would be a bit darker, deeper. A few drops escaped when I opened it and now my room smells like the old houses I rented with a ton of roommates in my twenties.

Possibly I’m nose blind to it? Anyway, it’s not smelling as risky, sexy or unique for me. I haven’t watched any of the marketing from this house. Maybe that sets the stage for some of the interpretations? If anything, it’s nostalgic. In a good way.

2019perfume

This has become a skin scent now

alexsate

This perfume balances on a very thin edge - you will either love it or hate it.
I loved it.
A rich, enveloping aroma, very persistent and with a long sillage. It is not an eau de parfum, so if you don't want to kill someone, it is best to limit yourself to one spray. The scent maintains its integrity all the way through and only towards the end loses the cannabis notes, leaving the wood, tobacco and smoke dominating.
And yes, I'm using it in summer, I don't care 😁

JonnyFrags

This is such a badass fragrance. It’s incredibly long lasting and so god damn interesting. There really is nothing like this at all. I feel like there are actually some similarities to the dry down of Memo Paris Iberian Leather but this is on a whole other level.

This does not smell like weed at all - fresh bud or burnt bud. Trust me, I know exactly what weed smells like lol. Maybe hashish but I’m not familiar with that smell at all. And no, this doesn’t smell liked TF Oud Wood either AT ALL, that stuff is a joke compared to this - scent and performance wise.

The closest I can think is like the smoke of some kind of aromatic rubber but I mean that in the best way possible. Actually, never mind, the smell is unexplainable to me. Like nothing I’ve ever experienced before but it’s so freaking good. It’s bold, mysterious, and cathartic.

EDIT: After sitting with it for a few days I’ve realized this sort of has a smoky aromatic chocolatey, nutty feel to it. Probably from the coffee note. I was eating peanut m&m’s and the aftertaste kinda reminded me of BA. It’s so good.

Super interesting bottle with a really nice colored juice that matches with the profile of the scent but I wish the atomizer was nicer. It should be for a bottle this small and expensive. I knew I needed to buy this once I smelled it.

10/10 masterpiece

Flame Maiden

I'm female and middle aged. I wanted a fragrance that encapsulated my bad attitude and this is most definitely that. I love it and I will wear it anywhere, anytime because I really don't care. Black Afgano speaks to my black heart!

JusttheFactsMan

#156 in my "Tour de Fragrance" and this is probably my most unique fragrance experience thus far. I got this as a sample, and I definitely get the Gucci Intense Oud comparisons. But the cannabis note over the top makes this fragrance stand out. I don't know that I want to smell dark and heavy like this in July. To me this is very much a Wintertime fragrance that is going to seem a weird choice in warm weather. This morning my girlfriend hugged me tight, and no reaction whatever to this fragrance, and when she thinks what I am wearing smells good, she always says so. She didn't say it smells bad, she just didn't comment, which tells me this one's not making the impression I want to make, on her at least. So, I think this is a unique, high quality scent, but I won't go for a full bottle, and at $129 an ounce, that's just as well.

HDM80

AMAZING! This is exactly what I love about perfumery. Unique, refined, bold, mysterious, smooth, evocative. This would be my signature scent, except it can be a bit much in high heat. The opening gives a big weed smell. It smells like you just hot boxed a car with dutch masters and high grade 2000’s weed. So much so that I had to wait to visit moms house lol. After about 30 minutes it turns into a smooth, intoxicating, wood ember, somewhat earthy, dark molten green with a bit of sweetness scent. Id imagine Bruce Wayne would wear this. Mysterious, unique, refined and masculine. Lasts forever and projects very well after 4 sprays. High quality product worth every cent!!! This will always remain in my rotation.

Cult Of Fragrance

When I first sprayed this I was met with a face full of smoke. Almost like a fire that has burnt out, almost slightly ashy. As it starts to dry down you get the cannabis note which is somewhat realistic as it almost smells like some sort of festival.

The oud that comes from this is very different from things like Tom Ford Oud Wood, or Thameens Carved Oud, but is a fresher take on the oud. As this dries down, and this will be controversial, I get some sort of resemblance to Dior Sauvage. It isn't anything close to sauvage, but it almost resembles it with the sharp woody dry down, and because it is almost a fresh type of smokiness I feel like you could get away with it in spring.

It isn't something I haven't smelt before, but if you're sick of fragrances with bad performance, this is worth the money. lasts 14 hours on my skin. The first 2 hours were amazing projection, but after that pretty decent. after 4 hours its basically just subtle but doesn't go away at all even after a shower.

overall good scent but not as unique as you'd think.

tecfield

This is an interesting and complex fragrance. The smoke in it to me smells like when your set some wood on fire and then pour water on it. The smoke/steam that comes off of it smells exactly like this IMO.
Cannabis is also very apparent in it but not like smelling the plant or the smoke of it.
The woody part with coffee in this very similar to Pardon with cocoa.
Oud is clean and will come out in dry down once the sharper notes settle.
Overall, I really like the smell and it is very much artistic but not sure in what occasion I can pull it off if any. It's not like Pardon that you can wear it pretty much anywhere. Yet to find where to pull this.
It's masculine, very long lasting, and projects very good. I don't consider it beast mode that you may choke those around you but definitely close.
The dry down is much creamier and nicer. If you test this and the opening was a bit harsh to you, let it sit for 15-30 mins and it becomes a very nice creamy woody scent.
Also do not layer it with Hacivat. I did it by mistake and it smelled very similar to garbage sitting for a while. And since both are very long lasting I had a hard time to get rid of the garbage smell 😂

Shawn330

Bottles need a serious upgrade niche with plastic atomizer rims baffle me…. The juice is good it’s extremely ambery, it’s not listed but I get rose in the heart of this. It reminds me of Wardasina more than Laylati from the house of Xerjoff V collection

JmThms

Nice dark, dense, rich, smoky, brooding scent. Great for formal occassion wear with a serious vibe, despite the hashish connection. Black Afgano for black tie events. Strangely, it doesn't seem to perform anywhere near reported levels.

Fragcaster

Unique that’s all there is to this, certainly not for everyone and definitely not blind buy safe and not mass appealing like designer efforts. But my goodness this is a nice fragrance and if you want to stand out

Ninamariah

This unique blend is controversial because of the notes and how people experience those. Some people are standing on Hashish note and some people think that this has nothing to do with the Cannabis at all. Anyway I think that some people maybe don’t know the difference of the words Cannabis, Hashish and Marihuana.

From their website: “The fragrance aims to evoke the best quality of Hashish.”

Hashish is a Cannabis product produced from resinous material of the Cannabis plant and that is one of the main accords and the top note and it’s definitely there. It’s sweety and juicy, dark and resinous scent is amazing with mellow, rich, and smoky oud blend. This is definitely not the Marihuana which is maybe the most known smell of the plant called Cannabis, this is like concentrated form of that. If you want more realistic Marihuana (weed) note I recommend Fragrance Du Bois Cannabis Blue. I love both and those two are really different.

Part of ingredients in this juice has been produced in Holland because those are illegal in Italy.

This is mysterious powerful extrait de parfum. Enjoy if you have this, this is a piece of art!

*I hope no one gets offended. Just wanted to make clear the differences in these notes.

LeftLane

Wow! First of all, easy on the trigger. I suggest one spray on the wrist & use that wrist to spead the fragrance. Two sprays for an outdoor Winter evening occasion. Will easily become too strong to be in a crowded car, so do your application well ahead of time. Don't worry, you may become anosmic, but everyone else will smell you. Not a safe blind buy. I think my 2ml sample will last me years. It leans masculine, but if you are a lady with a bold personality, you can easily rock it. Just be polite with this scent, so you don't overwhelm. The notes I pick up: hash, incense, sweet turkish tobacco, coffee, smooth oud.
Like if you were at a pot party, burning oud incense to cover the smell, while drinking great coffee, & smoking good cigars. Not a bad scenario, IMHO. The price seems high for 30ml, but the strength dictates a little goes a long way.
I like it pretty well in May, but I will have to revisit in cooler weather. "Honestly Officer, it's my perfume!"😸😹

yyed

just so striking and complex, this might be one of my favourites ever, if not just for the incredibly luxurious and pronounced burnt hash and resin it presents at first. in the long-term (after about 4 hours and well into the 12 hour range) it morphs into a delightfully astringent and dry tannin-laden scent reminiscent of houjicha or perhaps a dark roasted coffee; just fantastic. the incense notes—while slightly muffled by the characteristic cannabinoid scent in the beginning—seem to find their spotlight in the very long term (24+hrs) sticking to shirt collars and sleeves in a gentle but persistent way as if to remind you of the wonderful time you had smoking and talking with friends the night before. i really cherish this one and keep a sample strip of it in my wallet to remind of said good times..

edit: while the comparison with byredo mumbai noise makes sense at first, as the latter arguably smells somewhat like the time-average of BA over 24 hours, it does not have the same complexity and evolution and imo is not trying to show off a whirlwind tour de force of different "burnt" smells quite like BA does.

stylishchickenbone28

Can confirm that this is indeed a compliment magnet. I've not used this too often, mostly because it's too overpowering but I wore it to a job interview and we ended up talking about perfume for half of it.

wesleyjohnfourie

This was my first fragrance from Nasomatto, and while I do enjoy it a lot, its not necessarily my favourite from the house, nor is it really worth the price point.
Totally agree with many reviews that you can get yourself a bottle of Encre Noire and smell "dark" for a lot less, but to me this isn't really what the fragrance smells of.
Totally unisex, but not under any circumstances something anyone could wear.
It is quite light, ambery, and doesn't really make me think of the smell of cannabis at all (coming from a stoner!!).
It makes me think of the smell of sap, like resin seeping out of some rainforest tree.
It lasts all of three minutes on my skin, but when I spray it on my hoodies it lasts for weeks.
I really do enjoy this fragrance and wear it with some regularity, but I would say there are much better perfumes on offer at a more accessible price point.

VanirCO

Any fragrance with polarizing reviews are likely the ones I'm going to enjoy, or at least appreciate.
I will start off by saying that Gualtieri is certainly a master at his craft, and Black Afgano counts as one of the highlights of both Nasomatto and Orto Parisi.
Is BA the *best* that Gualtieri has to offer...?
That I don't believe is the case. I own and love Black Afgano, and will continue to do so. It's deep and resinous, with a unique sour cannabis note that dries down into a sweet oud element that lasts for a full day, and into the next. Bonus longevity if it manages to seep into your shirt.
However, as far as "challenging" fragrances go, Black Afgano is honestly one of the more tame within the Nasomatto lineup. Similarly, as far as complexity goes, I feel some of the offerings from Orto Parisi stand out above Black Afgano (Terroni, in particular). Even within the Nasomatto lineup, Blamage offers a compelling alternative for those looking for a nuanced leathery option.
Black Afgano has become a victim of hype, in my opinion. Those hating it likely went in with lofty expectations that were impossible to meet by any fragrance, let alone this one that's genius in its simplicity - perfectly executing a few notes, but ensuring those few notes are extremely unique within the world of fragrance. It IS still a masterful fragrance, and one worthy of any collection. If you want a dark, mysterious fragrance, Black Afgano can and should still be at the top of your list for considerations. However if you're looking for a master perfumer's avant garde masterpiece, consider the numerous other offerings by Gualtieri - I promise you'll find something between both Nasomatto and Orto Parisi that suits your preferences, no matter how strange.

The bounder

Jessie’s Fashion Tips- This year I will be mostly wearing Black Afgano, and no vest neither!!!

PerfuMartin

It's okay. There's a strange jelly-bean accord that comes out on the heart. You could do a lot better performance wise and quintessential "black" for a fraction of the price.

Let me explain.
Pendora Projekt Black - £20
Black Afgano - £120

Pendoras Projekt Black is a pure Black fragrance and can be used to layer with other fragrances. It has very good performance, lasting 12+ hours in contrast to Black Afgano which lasts about 7 hours.

I personally layer PB with Cuba Gold Original (£15) and it smells nicer than Prada LR Black.

Tato Chkhenkeli

I know that many people like this perfume and many consider it the best perfume of all time. That's why I'm going to detail my reason why I can't stand Black Afgano. This is not my whim, but I will bring real arguments.
In short, you can do a simple experiment and everything will become clear to you.

This perfume smells of hashish, incense, tobacco. It is masculine and almost thick.

But the problem starts when it dries down. It starts to smell like spit (saliva). That scent only remains.
To see what I mean, stick out your tongue and lick your wrist. Leave for 2 minutes and then smell it.

That's what it smells like.
A S P I T.

And I can't stand that smell.

ILISLANDBOY

In the opening, I picked up a Seminalis DNA. As it dried down, I seem to be stuck with a slightly spicy, slightly sweet Play Doh. I'm not getting "masterpiece," or any of the effusive praise. Kinda boring, and I was expecting edgy and confrontational.

Fragfragbagbag

Yup, this is brilliant. High quality work. It does get to that sweet, smokey, fruity hashish depth/vibe. Not exactly, but close.

Opening is lightly dank, green, bright in that weed way. Slightly smoked pine. Dry down is goddamn superb. Having trouble explaining it, but it is deep and perfectly balanced. Untouchable.

Well, this fragrance makes me feel great and relaxed. It’s its’ own masterpiece. You NEED to sample this if you’re even remotely into perfumes. 10/10

aaronmy

Very boozy, warm, and masculine in the opening. This is very dark as well. I would find this hard to wear. I’m surprised there isn’t any notes for rum in this. The cannabis I’m used to is a little dank in a way. That does come across once this dries on my skin, but it doesn’t smell fiery. Regardless, this is very strong and lasting. It’s more pleasant than I would have expected based on how reviewers speak of this fragrance, but I think this is good, just not my cup of tea.

petursey

Love love love love this. `I would bath in it if `I could ... this is my go-to Parfum and always gets noticed and positive reactions. I agree this is a masterpiece .... only downsides the price but a little goes a long way.... and you need to be careful with white shirts :-)
try it and buy it

afaninc

I love this art.
Dnt blind buy please first check

Pufcypokiepcy

The disappointment with this one made me write my first review.

I really wanted that strong, earthy, tary, almost unpleasant vibe, I like it.
It was earthy and cann-y for about 1 minute. Than it faded into faint, generic, sweet wood. It also caused partial noseblindness, so not sure if earthiness still projected and could've been detected by others.
It stayed on skin for long, but it was all the time faint, it evolved at some point in fact, but still into something rather generic and unremarkable.
I knew my skin chemistry affects fragrances deeply, but this time was to the extreme I wasn't aware is possible.
Also I gave it an honest try on paper. Zero earth, tar, smoke, hash, anything. Only sweet wood. Disappointed as heck.

But maybe it just wanted to keep me out from this overpriced thing.

-If you want to learn about my approach to reviewing, please see my profile bio-

Ba2siK

Really sweet and not smokey as people said. With hints of honey (even though not listed)

Fountain30

In my opinion quite possibly the best fragrance of all time. A true masterpiece.

jellisunc

Finally got a bottle of this and first time trying it - WOW ITS INCREDIBLE.

Rich resinous but sweet smokey and mysterious. Wonderful concoction and not at all challenging (in the best way). This is an incredible release and I am in love with it.

EDIT: drydown just makes this better - so divine. This is very amber heavy on me, lots of sticky resins. Possibly the best amber I have tried, slightly pushes over 21 from CoNat (which is way higher for me than Tauer LDDM, Ambre Sultan, etc.)

I think the trick is this balances the amber without going too sweet, just on the line of it.

Also, people who dislike cumin (which I find in most amber heavy fragrances) will definitely enjoy this!

heraklaitos

Admittedly I am new to the world of fragrance, but this one has captured me one of the most. I find it strong, intense, dark, spicy, with pleasant notes of coffee and tobacco. It feels very masculine. The bottle is gorgeous, with the prominent cap made of burnt wood. This makes the experience of putting the fragrance on rather special. Wonderful edgy name as well. A scent for the dark months I would say, wouldn't fit the spring or summer in my humble opinion. Thanks to Alessandro Gualtieri.

pedroquadros

At first place, I admit I love it besides the hype. It is a masterpiece and inspired a lot of fragrances like ebene fume, mumbai noise etc. But the original is the best from all of them, it has a cannabis accord that u can relate to green notes in the opening but it is all about oud and resins, if u have ever burnt oud u know the smell, every single time i smell this my mind is teleported to dubai markets where they burn oud, its so addictive... definitely not funky oud, id say more in the sweet side. Performance is very good, 3 sprays last me 12+ hours and nice projection, the only bad part is the price but id say it worths because it is the "pioneer" of this type os scent in a way. It is a oriental fragrance adapted to the ocident so it is much smoother than other ouds. I guess that if u have the personality it will smell very sexy, it is more a masculine scent but if I smell a woman wearing it Id think she is very much a confident woman.

jemly

this is the only fragrance with a cannabis note i've ever liked. the green notes and oud help emphasize that this is the plant, not the left over smoke. the incense note, to me, smells more like japanese hinoki incense, this isn't a stereotypical nag champa/pot-smoke accord the note list may suggest. no head shop here. it smells expensive, chic, confident and knowing. totally unisex, but i find it next level cool on the right woman in particular.

BigLongNose

Never been a fan of this thing.
It just smells like dark skanky cheap weed with saliva to me.
At least it lasts long

ts_likes_colognes

This smells like good weed and bad decisions. It smells almost exactly like the bedroom after you've had hot, sweaty, sticky, raw, animalistic sex. The temperature rising by 5-10 degrees once you're finished. Sparking up a joint afterwards (minus the sour undertones). It's an aphrodisiac.

flgrm

So good. The cannabis isn't really a "sour weed" smell like I was expecting. At first spray it's kind of like the smell of burned wax over this really fresh hemp, with this wonderful oud and tobacco layer below it. Over a few hours it starts to dry down into the awesome, sweet incense/benzoin-y flavor. Very interesting but not overstated, one of the few ouds I really like and could see myself wearing.

Kuldeep S

This is just a ok perfume for me. Few years ago I had a clone for this, from Al harmane , which was very similar to this but little harsher.

ts_likes_colognes

I find myself gravitating to polarizing fragrances. I love bold works of perfumery that make a statement, that aren’t afraid of being themselves regardless of what others say. When I got a 2 mL sample of this, I did not find it as polarizing as I thought it would be based on the reviews. But my goodness, does it make a statement. This fragrance is a masterful craft of perfumery. The cannabis note is clean and green, with none of the sour undertones to the scent of weed about to be smoked. The incense, tobacco and oud dance with each other in such a masterfully blended way. This scent lasts until the next morning and fills a room. I put okay price value because of how freaking expensive it is, but you are in fact delivered what you paid for.

Update: I got a bottle on super sale for $100! I'm so happy!

jshark7892

I dont get the hype. Smells like an 80 year old lady. I dont smell cannabis or really any of the notes its supposed to have. Its like a bad incense, mixed with an old sweet perfume, mixed with a metallic dirty sink smell. Glad i tried it but, i thought it was going to smell like hash and wood and it doesnt.

Update, I was told I smell sweaty after I got a drop on my hand and wiped it off twice with alcohol then went out an hour later.

gandrasta

Since it's raining all day, let's pull off dark material from the Lucifer itself. Burnt wood wrapped in ganja leaves. Be very careful when wearing this, because it ridiculously fills the room and leave unsettling trails.

RoGo72

I had read reviews calling this one mysterious & narcotic, so I ordered a sample to see what the hype was about. Green, herbal, & smoky with an undertone of Oud. I honestly was horrified by this scent. I had to wash it off my skin immediately as it was the worst smelling fragrance I’ve ever encountered. Oddly enough, my husband who dislikes a lot of scents I like said it wasn’t bad 😳 He happens to love the smell of good weed. No, he’s not into smoking pot…just loves the smell 🤢 I made sure to dump the sample down the drain so he wouldn’t be tempted to wear it. I just couldn’t bare the thought of smelling it again.

Fountain30

Be careful with this one, I do think it causes noseblindness. The reason I say this is because I could barely smell it even after 2 sprays and it got extreme reactions from people around me, even telling me they could smell me from the opposite side of the room as I walked in, the reactions were mostly positive thankfully but yes, this is stronger than you think.

Amazing fragrance for all seasons!!!🥰

After all the reviews i watched, all they hype and hate i read, and all the debate online regarding the reformulation etc, i finally bit the bullet and got this one.
And let me just say, this thing blew me away. Being in the middle wast, woody ambery incense oud fragrances are so common, that i thought this would not be anything special to my nose; was i wrong!
there is something intoxicating about the this juice; though i doubt this actually has any actual canabis or thc, since it is being sold legally in the country where i a.m currently residing. something about the balancing of the different notes and accords here just brings a smile on my face; reminding me of waking up after a night of drinking, and lighting some incense in the bedroom to mask the smell of something we may or may not have taken (its still ilegal in my home country) mixed in with the musky and musty smell of the previous evening’s steady night cap.
its definitely distinct enough from the other middle eastern fragrances. and in the strength and projection department, it holds its own well enough and does not appear weak in comparison to Layton, Naxos, Oud for glory, safari extreme etc.
the oud here is clean and tame, at least they are compared to my small collection of pure oud oils (dahn al oud).
then there’s the canabis/hash note; and here i will go on a tangent on my purchasing process. I was testing this fragrance in various different stores in the city where i a.m currently working, and i saw some differences between the testers in the stores i tried them on. on one store the juice was more black with no other tints, in another it was redish, and yet in another it was purplish.
but the more significant difference was in the smell. in one of them, i can smell more of a canabis smell that reminds me more of the canabis note found in fragrance di bois’ canabis blue; while the others were more consistent with the damp, musty green, hash like smell (which is definitely not just a moss and birchtar smell).
I ended up purchasing mine from a store named Plethora who are the official sponsor and carrier of Nasomatto, Orto Parisi, and Fragrance du Bois to name a few. the store attendant and manager there were so patient in me, going back and forth between shops, sampling the scents, taking pics. and they told me that the othe BA i smelled from the other shop (which i wont name) with the more pissy canabis smell, might be a counterfeit. and he proceded to tell me stories about how sometimes people come to their store to buy empty bottles from them for AED 100 or more (about 27-30usd), then shower me the caps that they take off the sample bottles they have empotied and the perfume glasses they have broken. when i asked them about the reformulation, the store manager tells me that allesandro gualtieri visits plethora either in the city or this country twice a year and he asked the reformulation question to him in one such meeting, in which the perfume house owner said that the formulation has not changed (which i took with a grain of salt of course, since they are still trying to sell me). they also game me about 100 aed managers discount to sweaten the deal; dropping the price from 682 (about 186 usd) to 580 aed (about 158usd).
i already slept with it on. and i woke up with still a light stain on my brown skin where i sprayed it and could still smell it there.
definitely loving this and recommending it.

Ilikewhatilike

Nice dna. I can imagine dressed up wearing this. Proper camphor, but maybe only close to cannabis.

DeathArrow

If you want a good clone, search for Privezarah Blend Afgano.

KID KOUROS

elthon john feat britney spears.

Ok this was a rock diva but now is making only commercial pop songs, we cant consider this niche anymore, the creation still but this is more commercial than some designer bottle. Everyone have this, even who use versace eros, this is not a "bad thing" BUT it kill the "exlusive-underground-alternative" vibe style who made this scent a cult.
The juice itself still majestic, theres nothing more to add to other reviews, but frag-hype game killed it

Buster Keaton

I really love this fragrance. all the time i wear it i got a lot of compliments from both gender. it smells very different and stylish. most my friends bought it after they smell it on me. recommended!😉

xillage

This starts of with initial hints of green, woody, tobacco, resinous whiffs.. Where the 'green leaves' get more on the top as it progresses towards the drydown.. A unique dark fragrance for rare occasions, and definitely not for the formal occasions because of the 'green leaweed'. And definitely not for the Airport, unless you want to get detained and checked inside out.

This is somewhat similar to Maahir black as well.

montgomery99

Ashy, smokey, woody, and tart. There's something very syrupy here, somewhere between cherry syrup and chocolate syrup if you can imagine it. It's surprisingly easy to wear, given the marketing and craze around it (and the rumors that it contains real hash).

No, what you're getting is a very high quality oud-amber fragrance, with facets of toffee, chewy sweetness. There is a clean powder in the base, not unlike the oud in MFK's Oud Satin Mood (thankfully that's where the comparisons begin and end). The cannabis note is more coffee to me, adding an earthy, slightly damp edge. It unfurls slowly, with different aspects that I mentioned being featured at different strengths throughout its long wear.

Overall, this is a beautifully blended creation that is versatile, balanced, and wearable. The sillage is larger than the projection, and the scent trail is sweet, a bit like unlit/or "put out" fruity incense.

One side note: the atomizers for Nasomatto used to be great, but my 2022 batch of Black Afgano has a very banal atomizer (not necessarily faulty, just not one that can be controlled with the smallest "tap" like my older bottles can). Not sure if my bottle is just not the best, or they no longer offer the best atomizers in the business. Though I did appreciate all the samples and the bandanna that was sent when ordering directly from their website :)

The inspiration behind Black Afgano is cannabis, but it is not blindingly obvious, making for a more interesting, artistic creation. Like the rest of the Nasomatto extraits, it is highly concentrated, but BA wears closer to the skin than Nudiflorum for example. It is quite a shapeshifter before it settles - initially dark and ashy, then dewy and green, before becoming increasingly balsamic and smoky. It is surprisingly airy, despite its dark countenance.

BA opens with dark, ash-like notes, dry and woody with a smoky edge. A greenness then comes to the fore, surprisingly dewy for a moment in time, before becoming dry and herbal. It becomes nicely balsamic as it develops, like a blend of patchouli and sweet amber. A sweet tobacco note emerges, adding to the smokiness that develops in the background. Altogether, it creates an impression of smoking good-quality cannabis without really resembling it. This is quite ingenious, as it is an artistic representation instead of a blind copy - and more wearable as a result.

A hint of smoky incense emerges as it develops, melding nicely with the balsamic amber base. A soft woodiness rounds it out. I don't get oud. I get a hint of coffee at the later stages, it blends with the balsamic notes to give an unexpected chocolate effect. It fades to a sweet amber skin scent with a whisper of smoke lingering until final fade. Sillage is moderate on me and longevity is long-lasting.

More olfactory art from Nasomatto, BA is as dark as its bottle and name suggests, yet is interspersed beautifully with airy greenness. I don't find Nasomatto's scents to be the most wearable, but there is much to appreciate here. Green smokiness done right. 4/5.

tonileefiore

Waited quite some time to purchase and try this much hyped extrait. Was hoping it might be the Holy Grail for me. Sadly, I am once again disappointed.

Not sure what I'm missing but one word sums up Black Afgano for me and that word is FLAT.

The opening is bitter, dark and ashy (not incense) but with balsamic green something going on that did not appeal to me at all. Perhaps the green is the cannabis?? After reading so many reviews about the uniqueness and pungency of this fragrance, I had braced myself for something powerful. So, perhaps my expectations were set too high. But for me Black Afgano felt abrupt and dead...seems like nothing happened, or nothing ever developed on my skin.

Dull, listless, flat. Seemed like I was trying to sniff something great from the other side of a brick wall.

Definitely nondescript and truly not to my liking. This is a strong pass.

Disappointing to say the least.

Fanny Chloé

Here is a funny fact about this fragrance which I love by the way.
Last Time I wore it, I passes by a couple of teenagers smoking weed and strangely it smelled exactly like me LOL.

I love this perfume so much. It smells deep and mysterious. It feels like you are entering a cave full of old treasures.
I love incense in fragrances it gives a soothing almost religious Vibe.
Whenever I Wear Black afghano I get compliments for some very tasteful persons but mostly it IS too strong for the average Joe.
I feel like a boss ready to conquer the World with it.

Bysshe

This is a good scent, or at least it ain't bad, and it's better than most of the Nasomatto or Orto Parisi ranges, but it suffers from the same fundamental ailment marring all of them, namely an over-reliance on taking a bunch of powerful modern aromachemicals, turning them all up to 11 and sitting back during the blending process to see what comes out. The whole project is This Is Spinal Tap but without the knowing jokes.

Cannabis? Only people who have never smoked it may be tempted to smell it here. There is plenty of smoke, a fair bit of burning incense and dark woods that seem almost altered by some combustion process. There's no denying the initial impact, and it does linger a fairly long time, but soon enough, and for the entire long duration of the drydown what takes over is a peculiar scent, both resinous-sweet and bitter-green (more precisely, burnt), which I couldn't put my finger on until I happened to hear the great savant Persolaise nail it over on his YouTube channel: a huge dose of several synthetic sandalwoods, the kind that seep into every pore in your skin and every corner of the room. That aromachemical knock-out again...

And yet, to be fair, what's going on in the later stages, despite it being overbearingly synthetic, is also quite interesting: after all, sandalwood masquerading as over-ripe agar burnt to cinders and putting on an Afghan mask (made of hemp?) is quite a feat to pull, and I don't begrudge any of its admirers - which is more than I can say about anyone who thinks they're being clever or edgy by liking Seminalis or Stercus. Ultimately, if you want an incense smell, try almost anything in Sorcinelli's UNUM collection (especially LAVS), and if you want smoke, head onto Beaufort (and especially Vi et Armis) - in any case it'd be a far more authentic and edgier experience, and that's with possibly the same range of synthetics to play with.

I just remembered something, or rather made a connection that (for me) will finally put this insidious monster in its place. Anyone else seen (and remember...) the latest BBC riff on the Dracula story,(2020 or 21?) penned (if memory serves) by Mark Gattiss? One of the key vampires in it gets cremated after being not-quite-killed and upon her inevitable return her pungent smell of burnt undead-ness is remarked upon by the others in the scene - THAT's Black Afgano.

Boier Serafim

shaedz

All I get is the herbal/green notes, damp/earthy notes and a tiny, tiny little bit of incense, it wasn't what I was expecting though.

CzarSalad

Like a raspberry lozenge that your dealer has been sucking on for the past few minutes then spits it out into his bong water and tells you to take a whiff.

Chanel de Lanvin

I have been interested in this perfume for a long time, I just bought it.
I am very happy with this original creation, although I am not a smoker and therefore have no experience with cannabis, I still smell a relative smell because I have already had this impression in a festival in Brussels located in a metro exit disused, where the atmosphere was perfectly described with the songs of Bob Marley.
It seems that it was reformulated, not knowing its character when it came out, I really like this current version, its outfit is correct, but it's true that I would have liked more powerful for its wake.
It is a perfume far from commercial standards and which stands out, to have as a priority in your collection.

GateofHeavens

What an insane perfume. Was obsessed about it in summer 2020. I don't know maybe it was Corona madness lol, but next year when I smelled it again, I was like "how it in the hell did I ever like this perfume?". Insanely long longevity. Extremely heavy and very "Larger than life businessman circa 1965" kinda smell. It's a very interesting smell for sure, but definitely not my thing, not anymore.

JetonSahitaj

It is what it is
It’s Black Afgano
Dark, Herbal, Airy, Balsamic somehow
But its not what I expected
I bought it for 100$ so I don’t mind
It reminds Tobbaco Oud by TF but still
You know what this is not a good projection
Its strong only because of the atomizer so tecnichally the atomazier allows the juice to fill u up with one spray, I like the ide of marketing that they made also it can finish up early if u make more than 3 sprays…
But I love it
Shout out to Alex who is one of the best extraordinary noses out there

KerriZ

a super interesting scent. could not smell the cannabis at all but liked the aromatic oud Good lasting power...probably not a FB buy but def an interesting try.

HULOGIC

i like this scent. it smells very pleasant. some people can't smell the cannabis. i can but it's a very subdued dankness. and only reminiscent of weed in that way. it's not super cannabis-y. the smokiness is not like live smoke. t-rex by zoologist you'd expect to find ash on your skin. this has the slight after effect of incense. to my nose it's quite sweet. must be the amber. it's also kind of waxy. i like it. kinda different. not the most unique fragrance ever, but clever and nice.

ShaunMichael

It smells like a watered down version of Amouage interlude man. If you like that one but think it’s too intense….try this.

zotykiel

Eternal longevity? Lol it projects very weakly on me after less than an hour.

grachamb

Inferior knock-off of Music Festival

csabak

Creepy and mysterious old sigma male at the beginning, I’m disgusted by it really…. After the dry-down it’s an old fashioned elderly intellectual who happen to be a Freemason as well. Thanks but NO thanks.

smellworthy

Coffee and weed, my 2 favorite things haha.
It smells like how I imagined it to. It is super dark and incensey, I get more resins and incense than anything else here. Very little green notes, I can pick up a bit of the cannabis but its super dry and possibly burnt. Reminds me of the smell of a metaphysical shop. I do like it a lot but unsure if its worth the price

Raytheon

awful. just smells like i lit incense and the set it under my office chair. zero cannabis scent whatsoever.

mo choudhury

😩 another middle eastern attar. should've known by the name afgano. 🤦🏾♂️
don't get me wrong I like it, as a Muslim we grew up on these scent profiles.
but the way brands and companies are moving with the middle eastern scents, are taking advantage of the westerns with the silly price tag.
my advice to westerns who love middle eastern scents, especially oud, I know you love your oud for some reason. but just go to an islamic store and save your money. you could get black afgano for 10£ or 15£ and it's attar as well.

ggg1337

Blind bought, and was disappointed. I still like it, but was expecting more.
I only get amber, incense and burnt resin. Was hoping for more complexity. I don't get any green notes or fresh cannabis notes whatsoever.

Beautiful, dark, spicy and warm scent, Very long lasting, smooth and elegant. Second time trying sample of this, will be buying a full bottle very soon.

Waroway

Quite a polarizing cologne. Got this as a sample (~2ml) and before I even opened my package I could already smell it. It already smelled great, but on skin is where this cologne shines.

Immediately you are hit with a dark resinous smell and the cannabis note suprisingly isn't overbearing, but instead peeks out from behind the woodsy/resin notes. The dry-down is even better with the tobacco coming in along with the incense and oud becoming stronger, but I don't really get the coffee note at all (Might just be wintertime allergies). This cologne is a beast with you only needing to spray once and even then I think you'd be overspraying... as well lasting upwards of a day on my skin with me still being able to catch a faint whiff before I took my morning shower and that was just one spray. This is most certainly a colder weather/night-time fragrance.

I only have 1 real gripe. This is DEFINITELY not a spray and go fragrance. This is a wear once-every-3-months kinda fragrance that you keep behind a high-tech security system with armed guards surrounding it. To be honest, I have no idea when I would wear this fragrance, I think the most apt situation would definitely be a wintertime date, but even then it might put some people off.

As stated in the beginning this is a very love or hate fragrance and I highly suggest you sample before you buy. I have had some people say I smell like a rotting urinal cake while others say I smell heavenly, but then again, who cares? You'll feel 10 feet tall wearing this stuff and you should wear what you like. Overall a fantastic fragrance that will probably be getting a place on my shelf as a full bottle in the near future. 9/10!

actual-working-nose

I think you could successfully poison people with this fragrance. it smells like juice from an alien planet. it smells offensive and like some sort of toxin. I would be scared to even inhale this fragrance, honestly

ŞunuBiKoklasana

It is the most permanent perfume I have used in my life, it is not known what formula it contains. All I know is a headache all day long when I squeeze it once.

Damn does this bad boy pack a punch! I was almost scared to spray this fragrance directly onto my skin at first, given I could smell it through the packaging. It’s certainly not for the faint-hearted, so do be sure the accords appeal to you before committing. Primal and pungent, Black Afgano smells like it should be illegal, yet here we are . . .

I get straight up dank weed, opening with a sour alcoholic punch, though this iniquitous note is expertly enveloped in what I can only describe as charred wood and exotic resins, conjuring up the darkest depths of a North African souk. The wearer of this scent is dressed in shadow-black robes, tall and silent, jewels on his fingers, and lost to the dark fever dream of a well-packed shisha.

I was surprised to see coffee listed in the notes, as I don’t smell this at all. For me it’s all deep, dark oud and sour, skunky hash. I may play around with it and try layering a couple of my lighter Hemani solid perfumes to see if I can create a little bit of harmony for daytime wear. If all else fails, this will be a definite evening/night time fragrance.

In hindsight, was Black Afgano a little too powerful for me? Yes. Did I have fun sampling it nonetheless? Certainly.

checkdisk

I had high hopes for this - I love the smells of marijuana, of oud, of incense... but maybe I just need to accept that I'm not a fan of amber scents. All I can smell is amber and smoke. It dries down a little better but the opening notes just turn me off. Maybe my nose is broken but I just can't detect any marijuana or oud. Reminds me of Varvatos's Dark Rebel, which I also found cloying, sickening, overbearing.

Josu01

This is my first acquaintance with Black Afgano: Wow... Good!!! Damn good!!!
After applying it on my skin, it immediately began to manifest itself, boldly and strongly.
A perfume with an extreme note of oud and cannabis, amazing combo. Very strong when applied and stays very strong for a long time.
Black afgano truly evokes moments of happiness for me. Bravo Signor Gualtieri! It smells rich, opulent, mysterious, so different from everything else.
An artistic, magical, dark composition. Probably one of the most special perfumes ever created, it simply has its own magic. What else can be said that has not already been said in the many, many comments in this page?
10/10 Beautiful.

Fountain30

Oh god this is so perfect… it is so beautiful. On my skin it almost smells like crushed coal. It’s sexy, mysterious… just another smash from Nasomatto this is pure art. Longevity is incredible but for me sillage is about average. Still this is superb and I am going to full bottle purchase ASAP

Ps go layer this with BR540 for a mind blowing experience

Drchrisnicol

Forget the cannabis note. You’re as likely to get high off this as you are off Tom Ford’s Black Orchid, or (dare I mention it in the same breath?), Aard al Zaafaran’s Oud 24 Hours. But you see where I’m coming from. Dark, smouldery, heavy is what we’re talking. For me, it’s the coffee and tobacco I get first, followed by the lingering incense. And boy, does Black Afgano linger! The tiniest scoosh in the evening (certainly not a daytime recommended frag.) and you’ll be attracting attention all the next day. It IS a thrifty scent, too, although the 30 ml bottle is not cheap. So little do you use, that mine has lasted three years of special evening outings. And given it is 30mls, it is great for air travel, stashing away in your carry-on hand luggage. Not for the faint-hearted, but the one I use when I’m feeling upmarket.

Boozy Incense 8/10

The cool goth girl who smokes but now she has graduated from Hot Topic to Comme des Garcons and Rick Owens. It has a classy and trashy vibe. Extremely light and extremely heavy all at once. The scent has a cold witchy vibe and has a sheer quality which is why I feel the scent is actually slightly feminine.

I tried the tiniest dab on the back of my neck, so little that I thought I wouldn't be able to smell it. I was wrong. It was just the right amount.

It starts somewhat cool, transparent, and almost plastic-like. Then the sweetness of the resins comes through and a sort of boozy note that combined with the sweetness of the resins comes through as a sweet white wine accord like Moscato or maybe a Cognac. After that, the incense and smoke come through with a slightly funky oud that could smell like cannabis but it's missing the bitter terpenes of cannabis. It's more of an artistic expression than a literal one.

When smelled closely to the skin it's more interesting and full of notes of coffee. However, the sillage is mostly incense, sweet booze, and oud. The Coffee doesn't project.

The oud is a bit too complex and exotic to wear without being a bit dressed up. Not really a jeans and t-shirt scent.

It's similar to Tom Ford's Tobacco Oud but higher quality, more smokey and less chocolatey.

Also, reminds me of CDG Black with the incense but less spicy and less sweet.

Cardamom + Coffee + Cinnamon + Campfire Smoke + Incense + Wood + REAL Ancient Oud + Cannabis + lightly added Benzoin Resin + Tonka sweetness + Dry Tobacco + Patchouli + touch of powdery Lavender

Oh man, bought it last year, was too complex for me to appreciate, put it away for an entire year.
Tested it again tonight to see if i wan to keep it, 4 sprays on my hand and "Wowowowow!" :D
This smells like Killian's 'Black Phantom' scent genre, with some nuance of Gucci 'Intense Oud'.

It has a cult following, but who talks about this today? Who shows this love on Youtube today? No one.

The Benzoin/Tree Resin is lightly added giving it off it's traditional scent of acidic saffron-cherry.
The Oud here is real, that has been trapped in a tree for countless centuries, and this type has a dry dark woody note to it paired with a slight sour funk, which is intoxicating.
The note of dark Coffee is very much present in here which is delightful.
The Cinnamon note strings it toward a addicting gourmand reaction to the nose.
The Patchouli is a base note, that is present in the fragrance from start-to-finish, giving a hint of peppery earthiness to the dna.
The campfire burnt wood smoke is extremely strong in this but doesn't go overboard, adding a lot of character to the whole dna.
Another smokey note is the Incense, giving it a much needed slight feminine edge.
Cannabis is present, but not over-whelming, done more in an artistic way. Im not sure if it's Cannabis oil and/or with the leaf as well.
There is added sweetness to this that smells a bit fruity, and i cannot identify what it is, might be Tonka.
A hidden note of powdery Lavender reveals itself at the Bottom Dryoff stage.

What i appreciate about the fragrance is that the strong notes are just lightly added with each other so the dna is balanced. No note is over-whelming, although the notes individually are strong and of quality.
Leans extremely masculine, id only recommend this for a women if she's in a leather jacket partying giving off a fun baddie vibe, or hardcore hipster.
For us Men, this is a dominating alpha-male scent, where a little goes a long way when applying, less-is-more with this fragrance to make the best of it wearing in public. Would be great to wear at a coffee shop and weekend window shopping. I would even go as far as to say that if you have someone in your life that you absolutely lust with, wear this for a erotic sexual experience.
This is a beast, it has an above average projection, incredible longevity, people will 100% smell you, and the projection is strong & balanced, not obnoxious in public.

YT Trailer: watch?v=OibLiL0kHXQ
Nasomatto's perfumes is the dictionary definition of progressive olfactory art, and i think he should be praised and hailed as one of the most exciting Noses within the industry. The type of artist where everyone rushes out when they release a new creation to see & experience what it's all about. He has a little perfume shop in Italy, imagine what this olfactory artist could create with more money behind him and access to all the exciting unique notes in the world.
With Black Afgano you are getting the originator of this dna and quality ingredients. And with the price of Oud outrageous and now rare from over-farming these days, it's good value for your money. Yes it's only 30ml a bottle, but it's so rich in scent & performance that it works out to be the same if you were to buy one average or below performing fragrance. A dna best smelt on Brown or Black skin.
A girl once said it smelt like a Portable Toilet, and i have to agree now that she said that, it has that minty spice note to it.
I will confess, younger women do not enjoy smelling this, and older women that are into pot culture seem to enjoy it, for you to consider. Personally i don't care to wear this and never reach for it because i have so many other frags i enjoy so much more, but i really respect the quality & artistic approach to creating something new.
I'm not addicted to this, but it's incredible. Although not a masterpiece, it's dna is groundbreaking.

4/5 Woofs!

I am very confused by this one. I've tried this off and on for a few months now and I don't understand. Take the black cap (charred wood), soak it in water for a few days, smell the water saturated wooden cap. That's what this smells like. Wet wood. Not even fresh, burned wet wood. Just old, dank, dusty wood that's been soaking under a leak in an attic. Even if I don't like a fragrance I can appreciate it as an art, but this just makes me mad.

Lotus/iris

A couple people said it smelt like cat piss/ trying to cover up the smell of weed with cologne. I love it and its a staple of my collection. I dont mind the 30 mil bottle size and it makes it seem more special. Although i dont know if its been reformulated or what but the sillage isnt as good as people are saying, not that its a big deal. I still love it, 9/10.

kozlowski

oh this is just wild stuff.
but not the loud and obnoxious kind of wild, it's like standing in the corner and not saying a word kind of wild, a mystery within.
Its intoxicating, addictive, narcotic, sexual, illusory, fascinating.
Art.

contrary to some, I think it's great for summer. I can even imagine wearing it while dressed all-white on a long hot summer night.

Ferra_Verto

Very green, ambery, and spicy on my skin, major animalic facets too (I assume it's the oud).
Oscillates between damp and smoky, stays quite linear. Lasts for 12+ hours, really sticks to the skin. Best in cool/cold weather, this is much too much in heat.
Definitely unique and worthy of a try.

TjSmellsGood

It's a funky one. The sweet smokey incense scent is there, yes. The fresh tobacco is there, yes. But overpowering them both is this DANK musty scent. Does it smell like cannabis? Yes and no. The famous skunky scent is absent in this fragrance. However, the damp, musty, almost sour green scent that hides behind that skunkiness in cannabis is absolutely here, and it's loud. This is NOT a scent for everyone. I would say it's not a scent for most, or even for anyone. I have absolutely no idea what occasion I could possibly wear this. Yet, I love it. It's an experience. The sweet funkiness of it is akin to catching a whiff of B.O. off yourself and not entirely hating it? It's hard to explain why one would enjoy a fragrance that just objectively does not smell good. Maybe it's more like enjoying fine scotch even though it tastes awful by any metric other than "good scotch". At the time of writing it's the strangest scent in my collection and I probably won't wear it very frequently at all. But I'm still glad I got a decent of it.

Longevity - 8/10
Silage - 6/10
Scent - ???/10
Value - Either 1 or 10 depending on the person / 10

Overall - who cares, if you want something funky and weird get it. Otherwise save your money and opt for something more... Useful.

No one has the right to hide reviews, even if they are negative, ok

maxih88

This is a lovely incense based fragrance with heavy use of synthetics. Not in a bad way, but it is obvious for those familiar with materials such as Black Agar Givco and javanol. Besides incense, it has hints of oud, sandalwood and smokiness. Far into the drydown I get incense, musk and a touch of vanilla.

The note of hashish/cannabis is just, in my opinion, clever marketing. It has a sharp twang in the opening and into the mid that gives an abstract impression of cannabis but it's not anything like what cannabis or hashish smells like in real life.

The comments about "beast mode", "insane perfomance" and "a quarter spray will choke everyone around you" is mostly regurgitations of what people said about this fragrance in its first few years on the market. The current formulation is not only tamer but the color is also not as black as it used to be and more of a semi-transparent purple.

The performance is not bad though. The longevity is 9+ hours but the projection becomes very soft after about 45 minutes. It will not choke anyone out and is perfectly office safe. The scent has a nice habit of lingering in the air in a room you've been in, albeit in a very subtle way.

Absolute sex in a bottle, spray it at least an hour before the date, work, school whatever, the cannabis note is as addicting as canabis itself.

ahayahwehah

Smooth from the sandlewood, very slightly powdery, slightly dry, musky, mild agarwood (oud), soft but not smoky incense, slightly sweet but not as typically understood sweet to be - not sickly/sugary/floral/fruity, but more the sweetness of a first kiss, patchouli and earthy greens, hauntingly beautiful - like summoning spirits in a cold dark forest on halloween, unique although versatile enough, can be signature scent for certain individuals. Smelling this on the right type of woman would be very alluring.

This instantly reminded me of my current favorite cannabis fragrance, “Green Bubble” from Jusbox. However, Green Bubble is a toned down version and not as dark/dank.

Nonetheless, this is a gem.

Black Afgano, again.

It’s summer in the city and all your friends are out of town and none of the men are really your boyfriends and all the bars are brimming with clumsy college students dazzled and starry-eyed and madly in love with one another and it’s too hot and too bright out during the day and you’ve sweat out every last bead of patience and joie de vivre and compassion you had left, or at least I did, and now it’s after dark and the sky’s opened up and the torrential rainfall has left you soggy and the asphalt steaming and it’s so humid that it’s no real relief. But it’s not so bad, really, to be alone in your own apartment here, every noise a little bit muffled by your sturdy walls, and they are yours, and this place is yours. And once you get inside and towel your hair off a little and change into something very soft you exhale for the first time all week and start to look forward to a few days of solitude spent reading and cataloguing and cleaning and organizing and just going utterly joyfully insane over the little things that are just yours, the little quiet things full of precious details that nobody else around you cares about nearly as much as you do anyway, and these are such special little interests and they don’t get enough attention when you’re a liquid part fitting into the glowing juicy world out there with everyone else. And it feels better the longer you’re here, making something only you love for dinner, something so powerful and healing that it’s nearly acrid to the uninitiated, tingly numbing Sichuan peppers galore and rich broths cutting glimmering oils, something most people wouldn’t think appropriate for weather as hot as this but you’re not cooking for them, you’re cooking for you. And in this way you’re reminded of the cooler months to come, how everything will again make more sense to you and how your surroundings will more naturally compliment your temperament, how delicious the air gets, how delectable it is to wear your favorite big coat every day, how everyone will be back in town and eager to nestle into each other and happy to burrow into this warm darkness with you, around fires and simmering hot pots and thoughtfully packaged little gifts and the inherent intrigue of longer nights. And in the meantime Black Afgano’s medicinal greens salve your bitter, cranky little wounds, and her drugs indulge your secret and expansive wild, and her sturdy woods and meditative incenses form around you a cloak of protection. You’ll make it, you always make it. Seasons change.

slave for scents

Resinous, smoky, woody and green. There was a brief time when it smells like graphite on my skin, then the scent develops into a walk in a dense bamboo forest after a brief rain.

I remember the first time I smelled Interlude. Something so deep and mysterious took me by surprise and hooked me from that moment.

The same happened again today.

Black Afghano is a masterpiece. An unmistakable powerhouse that grabs you and forcibly pulls you in.

The top notes of cannabis are prominent. The woods, the tobacco, the coffee, the smoke. It’s all there and it’s balanced beautifully.

I picked up a 1.5ml sample from ATC. One spray started off moderately and grew in projection over the first half hour. It’s strong, but not enormous, but that could be the sample being decanted incorrectly or it may even be toned/watered down. I don’t know.

It’s strong. It’s smoky, dusty, resiny. It’s bloody stunning.

$200 AUD for 30ml? I think Nasamatto’s got me digging deep into my wallet - it’s that good.

Not for the faint-hearted or nightclub crew. This is a mature, sophisticated, intoxicating scent. Probably won’t garner lots of compliments. So fucking what - you’ll feel 10 feet tall wearing it anyway.

Sprayed it once on a card at Neiman Marcus and took the card home and the card made my entire bedroom and hallway have this intricate and dark resinous scent. It filled my car with the scent as well from the 1 spray on the card. It is really potent and doesn't even require body heat to vaporize. There is a slight sweet ghost note within the bitterness and dirtiness of the cannabis, tobacco and oud which smells like the sweet and nutty part of a sandalwood scent. Perhaps that's the incense note. I agree with @Child Chemist that it is a bit stuffy and sort of glad it didn't get on my skin, but I loved smelling it on the card and controlling its presence on my nose instead. It is out of my price range for a mere 30ml so went with Anubis Kiss. I think I would like this one more if it was an EDT at a lower concentration and get more of it. The statement that one spray is too much is spot on and maybe should come with a dipper rod to dab just a drop or two on you instead of coming with a spray. This seems more potent than Arabian Oud essential oils and attars that I've been using, and slightly more harsh, but in that sort of realm of pure oils concentration. I wouldn't spray those oils either as it would easily become overwhelming.

Olfactologist

This is straight-up Nag Champa incense. Weird that champaca is not listed as a note. If you have ever stepped out of a sweaty Rave dancefloor into a chill room, you would catch this vibe. IYKYK.

Child Chemist

Black Afghano can make you feel claustrophobic from how dense the scent cloud is. Its intensely dusty and woody. Smells like velvet-walls and candles, with wine-colored rugs and incense burning. It's incredibly stuffy, which in the winter, might be something desirable, especially out in an open space. It isn't sweet but does foster some warmth to it. One spray is too much haha.

literally sex in a bottle

Word to the wise, this puppy works best when applied in a misting fashion.

The scent on this is beautifully relaxing. Its dark, resinous and perfect for a slow night out. Pair with dim lights and dark liquor.

Solid longevity: 9 hours till skin with a nice even transition from top to base notes. This is definitely a fragrance to under-spray and mist over the extremities. Better for the silage, as this puppy projects in a very linear fashion. Spraying in concentrated area will keep it too intimate.

Qui audet adipiscitur. (Who dares, wins.)
I blind ordered this -ridiculous, I know- specifically because I noticed that all my favorites are considered divisive, but I didn’t know what to expect. I certainly did not expect THIS.
A complete and utter monster, a scent that envelopes your senses and makes you invulnerable.
The first whiff, I thought it was my wishful thinking messing with my sense of smell, so I gave it a couple more, and every single one of them was a revelation.
I’m not good at catching individual notes of a scent, so I can’t help you with that, but I can safely tell you this: never, ever blind-buy it. I was very lucky, but I now realize what people meant about it being extremely divisive.
It’s loud. Not an obnoxious “Hey! I’m here! Listen to me!” loud, but rather a soft loudness of presence, like when you whisper, the world stills, and listens.
It’s heavy, but not overbearing. Dark, rough- a person who knows themselves. Woodsy, I think. Something an antihero would wear. Not a “clean” scent by any stretch of the word. Performance is astronomical, two sprays is too much, so I do one and a half- and that’s when I‘m feeling particularly bold.

Guys, I had a very bad experience buying this gem from a discounter and then I came to know that it was a fake one, however few tips for all of you guys :
1- every cap of black afgano is burnt separately so it will never have right angles edges or a smooth surface.
2- you will find on the bottom of every bottle the name nasomatto engraved on the four edges of the bottle's bottom .
3-the batch number will be engraved on the bottom of the bottle and it should be the same that is mentioned on the box just by the side of the bar code
4- the juice is black with reddish shades.
any bottle or box do not comply with the above that means it is a fake one.

Too dark, too smoky and too much cannabis for me

ssrraa

I love it, it’s the ultimate enveloping fragrance, I get questions about it and compliments all the time. I have the oil based one in a roller and I would say it is not as strong as the alcohol based one, so be careful if you want to buy the roller one it is not precisely the same. Also you can’t put it on clothes because it is oil so it lasts less time for that reason as well. I must say, I don’t get the cannabis smell, I mostly get amber, coffee and tobacco, I do get sweetness and (don’t know why) a little licorice. Unpopular opinion: I think it is more a summer perfume than a winter one, especially because of the images it evokes with its ingredients (desert, hot places). Funny thing: people say it is a little animalic, in fact, in turns a little bit towards the smell of saliva after 4/5 hours (even though only on my wrists, weird), not unpleasant, but not for everyone if it does happen to you too.

JupiterMoon

A classy, smoky oud. I get mostly cannabis and incense along with the oud. It's serious and business. Based on its reputation, I thought it would be loud and obnoxious. But it's well-balanced. It's going to be noticeable because it's an oud. Mature and formal. Nice smoky sillage. The dry-down and lingering skin scent is that of a burnt, ashy oil.

emmayoung537

I regret buying this. It's just too much of everything to me

*loves_shoes*

I have the oil rollerball, just got it today, so this is just my first impression.
It’s warmer than I expected, and sweeter. Kind of herbal, amber, a tiny bit bitter if I smell my skin directly - in fact the smell on my skin does give me the impression of cannabis, but my Dutch boyfriend says it doesn’t smell of cannabis at all. I asked him if he liked my perfume and he said it smells ‘very niche’. When I told him it’s supposed to smell of cannabis, he was surprised and said he’d never say that.
I like it, it’s resinous, a bit smokey (like an incense smoke not a dusty horrible cigarette smoke), and kind of warm and woody.
Rich and warm and spicy as it dries down, but still with that bitter green herbal edge.
Feels a bit calming.
Unisex.
I don’t get all the confusion over when to wear this. Maybe because it’s the oil it doesn’t project as much (I get arms length) but I think it’s pretty safe to wear to most occasions. It’s definitely unusual, but I don’t think anyone else would worry too much about it.

Babakaz

I really enjoyed the smell of this perfume right after I sprayed it on myself. It smells very unique to my nose, it's smooth and strong, a little sweet but still very masculine and a little earthy and dirty. it's very well blended imo and gives off a soothing sweet feeling. Unfortunately in the dry down it starts to smell unpleasant to my nose which put me off of using the perfume often.

the silage is enormous and It lasts so long that I could still smell it on the sweater i sprayed it on after a few days. But with great power some issues arise as well. due to its strong nature it makes it very hard for me to find a suitable occasion for it to work since I spend most of my days in indoor spaces and this is not a perfume made for indoor environment unless you got enough space to let the perfume flow.

I think the price for the perfume is OK since you will only need one spray (coming from someone who usually sprays around 5 to 7 sprays) and you could even just purchase a 2 or 5 ml sample in case you're not planning on dailying it, since even that will last you a while.

Overall I believe it's a unique and creative scent with extreme power. very good for outdoor occasions and events. could be headache inducing for some so be careful with the trigger.

Smell: 8/10
longevity: 10/10
silage: 9/10
masculinity: 8/10

Bonjour Mademoiselle

I used to smoke hashish and drink coffee whole night in france with this perfume. Good memories with this scent. For for those who don't understand what this scent really has in common with hashish, it's like a slight plasticine or plastic scent/accord, which distinguishes it from other perfumes with a very similar feeling (Profumum Vir, Headspace Styrax, Note di profumum Amante and more…)

Dumbplings

Don't wear this around sniffer dogs or the police...thank me later

I have it for one year.

You have to try it yourself at least one time in your life (in a store of course, don't blind buy this one).
Any kind of review will not help in describing this fragrance.

I am wearing this fragrance when I have a business meeting that I want to dominate. or setting with people whom I want them to leave me in peace.
It's a fragrance where you don't want to be likeable from other people, but, you want to be a source of threat for them.

performance from all aspects is in the sky.
let's don't talk about Winter or Summer. it's out of the scope for this fragrance. you wear it when you need to wear it.

if you want to act as a mafia guy .. this fragrance is what you need.

----------------------
This is my experience that could be different than anyone else.
Kindly, go to the store and try it and leave it on your self for while.
